Project SS UU Lure That Threat! Week 25: Slowking (Submissions)

Dunno if this technically counts, but...

:ss/mantine:
Mantine @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Mirror Coat
- Roost
- Defog

Rotom-Wash can generally come in safely against Mantine and do some free damage to it with Volt Switch, but not this time. This Mantine's EVed so that Mirror Coating the Volt Switch does enough damage to KO a fully invested base 100 HP mon (Tang, Mew etc.) Anything with more HP than that bar Chansey, Gastro and Rhyp get outright KOed after damage from rocks. Just need to scout for a Toxic or Choice Scarf before deploying this strat.

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 120+ SpD Mantine: 204-240 (54.6 - 64.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Possible damage amounts: (204, 204, 204, 208, 208, 216, 216, 216, 220, 220, 228, 228, 228, 232, 232, 240)

:bw/krookodile:
Krookodile @ Passho Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Smack Down
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock

Rotom-W is lured in to Krookodile not being able to touch due to Knock Off being a 3HKO. Once lured in it gets smacked down, losing it's Ground-type immunity and them being KOed by Earthquake. Passho Berry is used to make sure Krookodile always lives a Hydro Pump.

252 Atk Krookodile Smack Down vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Rotom-Wash: 46-55 (15.1 - 18%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Krookodile Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Rotom-Wash: 276-326 (90.7 - 107.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Passho Berry Krookodile: 165-195 (49.8 - 58.9%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

:ss/rhyperior:
Rhyperior @ Choice Band
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Heat Crash

Rhyp is usually pure Washtom bait, providing it a low risk switch-in so that it can Defog away Rhyp’s rocks. Banded Rhyperior changes that, sniping Washtom and having a good chance to OHKO after rocks:

252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Rotom-Wash: 258-304 (84.8 - 100%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

:ss/Celesteela:
Celesteela @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Flash Cannon
- Energy Ball
I was originally going to do solar beam moltres before it was taken :psycry: but this also works well as a lure. Rotom-W is a pretty safe answer to steela's two main sets. It can just volt on the defensive set and wear it down while offensive variants can only damage it with the unreliable meteor beam since it resists air slash and flamethrower. Therefore, its going to be switching into steela a lot during a game. Specs energy Ball is able to OHKO after rocks damage, removing rotom from the game. The other moves are STABs and coverage for steela's usual targets

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celesteela Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 268-316 (88.1 - 103.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Now, its time to vote! We got a lot of great submissions this week, so that's awesome to see. Down below are the lures submitted for the week!

:ss/Hatterene:
Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire

This week we have the mad hatter, Hatterene! Hatterene is a solid wincon in the tier, being able to use its great bulk to check the likes of pokemon like Kommo-o and keldeo. Furthermore, it is one of the few hard counters to the infamous spikes mew. How will you lure this threat? Submissions are due June 19 at 11:59 PM PST

reserving gunk shot mew

:ss/Mew:

Mew @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off / every other move it runs idk
- Soft-Boiled
- Spikes

Hatterene is a very common Mew switch-in thanks to its ability, Magic Bounce, which lets it bounce Spikes back to Mew's field and usually Mew's moves don't threaten it at all. UNLESS you run god Gunk Shot and poison it t1!!! just don't let it calm mind so much bc u are probably going to end up getting outhealed by draining kiss if you also miss some of the Gunk Shots

4 Atk Mew Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 204+ Def Hatterene: 136-160 (42.7 - 50.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew: 70-84 (17.3 - 20.7%) -- possible 5HKO

+3 0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mew: 177-208 (43.8 - 51.4%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO

Lycanroc-Dusk @ Life Orb
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Accelerock
- Iron Tail
- Psychic Fangs
- Close Combat

Lycanroc lures in Hatterene, since it isn't 2HKOed by any of it's moves besides Stone Edge, which runs the risk of missing and only has a 13% chance to actually 2HKO. Iron Tail always 2HKOes and it's funny, get tailed.

:Zarude-Dada: @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip
- Darkest Lariat
- Bulk Up
- Jungle Healing

You can bulk up straight on hattrene in its face, activating your weakness policy and ohko'ing it the next turn. Even if you miss one zarude is tanky enough to fire off another one. If hattrene switches out you are now in a better position with a +3 attack and +1 defence zarude at 50% hp ready to claim a kill.
+3 252 Atk Zarude Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Hatterene: 348-409 (109.4 - 128.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zarude: 146-174 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zarude: 146-174 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Level: 100
Modest Nature
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
- Draco Meteor
- Acid Spray
- Sludge Wave
- Surf
What Hatterene wouldn't want to 1v1 something that's only stab move is worthless, along with being twice as strong to it? I dunno.
However, this one has a trick up its sleeve. Acid spray sets up, lowering SpDf.
Sludgewave then hits. It will always OHKO, too, at -2 SpDF.
252+ SpA Goodra Sludge Wave vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 394-464 (123.8 - 145.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
"oh well you need a turn to set up acid spray where they kill with draining kiss."
The special bulk and AV provide perfect coverage, and deems the regeneration from it useless.
0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Assault Vest Goodra: 66-80 (17.2 - 20.8%) -- possible 5HKO
This is my lure.

Eat a Mystical Fire, get the 2HKO with Iron Head (or the OHKO with rocks and a bit of luck!)

252+ Atk Metal Coat Scizor Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Hatterene: 258-306 (81.1 - 96.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Escavalier can win the 1v1 with Hatterene thanks to his good special defense, and can OHKO with iron head.

0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 154 SpD Escavalier: 236-280 (83.9 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Poltergeist
- Icy Wind

Hatterene is normally a big pain for spikes teams, and Poltergeist allows Froslass to 2HKO defensive Hatterene. Hatterene is often very eager to catch Froslass on a Spike so it's not too difficult to bait.
