Project SS UU Lure That Threat! Week 25: Slowking (Submissions)

:ss/thundurus-therian:
Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 8 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic / Focus Blast / Grass Knot
- Knock Off
- U-turn

This is overall regular Thundy-I but worse but it brings an appreciable volt immunity in some scenarios and the ability to lure a few mons that'd come to check np Thund-T but wouldn't appreciate pivot, Chansey is one of those (can also work p well on Tang/Zarude/Nihi/Heattom pivoting in). Chansey would usually like to come in on nasty plot to proceed to tox/soft boiled Thundy to death (even if it means having to sack something, it's a consistent way to get rid of it), and will probably never switch out against an unboosted Thundurus-T early on.
Knock-Off is close to an OHKO move on Chansey, making it lose a considerable amount of bulk. Once it's knocked you even get the chance to 2hko it after chip if you feel like it by running Focus Blast but honestly it's unneeded, as long as it's knocked most of your team that isn't an Amogus should be able to power through it in the long run.

:bw/venusaur:
Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Growth
- Power Whip
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

Physical Venusaur :)

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Venusaur Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 543-641 (77.1 - 91%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

:ss/Nihilego:
Nihilego @ Black Sludge
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Knock Off
- Pain Split

So you think Nihilego is stopped by Chansey? You thought that was a big shot counter? Think again Senor! Not only will this Nihilego knock off Chansey's Eevee-o-lite, it will also outlive it with Pain Split and force it to switch out. Chansey can't do anything to it at all whatsoever no sir-ee-blob. Try again.

:ss/primarina:
Primarina @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wonder Room
- Hydro Pump
- Moonblast
- Psychic

Thought Chansey could endlessly sit on Prim? Think again! Wonder Room is a neat move that swaps the Def & SpDef of all mons on the field, though it doesn’t get much usage due to how situational it is. With this, you instantly turn the tables on the pink blob, as shown by these calcs:

252+ SpA Primarina Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Wonder Room: 651-766 (92.4 - 108.8%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Primarina Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Wonder Room: 562-663 (79.8 - 94.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Togekiss @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Play Rough
- Dual Wingbeat
- Focus Punch
- Extreme Speed

252+ Atk Choice Band Hustle Togekiss Focus Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 590-696 (83.8 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

hustlekiss go brrrr haha

while some variants of togekiss can beat chansey over the long term, it's usually safe for chansey to come in and scout / toxic / teleport out (although this set doesn't have it). hustlekiss, however, immediately bops chansey with a focus punch that usually OHKOs after rocks. just hope it hits x

:ss/Regieleki:
Regieleki @ Normal Gem
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Screech
- Volt Switch
- Thunder Cage
- Explosion

Using a new toy we got, this set aims to trap chansey with thunder cage due to it lacking teleport and lowering its defensive with screech, then KOing it with explosion. This suicide trapper set removes chansey them for a teammate that is stopped by them to sweep. Chansey would want to switch in since eleki seems to be more specially oriented from what I've seen
252 Atk Normal Gem Regieleki Explosion vs. -2 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 789-929 (112 - 131.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I'm all in for Slowbro-Galar. A classic UU mon, almost always specially oriented with lots of special coverage. However, its base Sp.Atk is the same as its Atk. Why not put that to use?

Since Slowbro-G is a poison type, toxic cannot effect it aswell, forcing Chansey into seismic toss. Here's the set.

Slowbro-Galar @ Mago Berry
Ability: Quick Draw
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Shell Side Arm
- Liquidation
- Zen Headbutt

Slowbro-G in this surprising set is able to set up Belly drum with no punishment. Here's the best outcome for a Chansey. Also, if it switches out after seeing B-drum, that's half HP Slowbro-G getting in a free move.
Chansey uses Seismic Toss while Galar-Bro uses BDrum. Mago berry kicks in, letting it take 2 hits more. The 164 speed invest lets it outspeed chansey by a single point- letting it get the kill in 2 turns.

+6 252 Atk Slowbro-Galar Shell Side Arm vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 648-763 (92 - 108.3%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
+6 252 Atk Slowbro-Galar Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 577-679 (81.9 - 96.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Quick draw also allows for a possible sweep, on another Pokemon. Two for the price of one!

Its time to vote! We got a lot of fire submissions, so that's great to see. Down below are the submissions this week

:Tangrowth: by Magnum - sorry bud, tang nearly always runs knock off, so chansey is never really going to switch into tang because it'll almost assuredly lose its eviolite and be crippled for it

Voting ends on July 6 at 11:59 PM PST. My vote will be for wonder room primarina, a really heat submission that took me by surprise and looks cool to use.

Voting has completed. Congrats to KM for winning the week, your submission will be added to the hall of fame soon. Now, lets take a look that this week’s threat to be lured.
:ss/Pelipper:
Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

For this week we have pelipper! Pelipper has recently dropped to UU and has already made a huge splash, turning rain into an incredibly solid archetype with its offensive presence, role compression in hazard removal, pivot abilities in U-turn, and reliable recovery with roost. Being able to remove this threat is key in being able to overcome rain. How will you lure this threat? Submissions are due July 10 at 11:59 PM PST

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Freeze-Dry

Even with a Jolly Nature, Freeze-Dry is still able to OHKO Pelipper without any chip.

0- SpA Life Orb Mamoswine Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Pelipper: 348-421 (107.4 - 129.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Thunder
- Iron Head
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn

Thanks to Pelipper’s Drizzle ability, setting up rain, Thunder will never miss and OHKO Pelipper, with the Speed EV’s letting you outpace max speed Rotom formes

0 SpA Jirachi Thunder vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 420-496 (130 - 153.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Specs Gyarados...
:ss/gyarados:
Gyarados @ Choice Specs
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Hurricane
- Hydro Pump
- Toxic

Is Specs Gyarados good? no most probably it isnt. So why would I use this thing over like Keldeo? Well first of all it has the stab Hurricane which allows it to spam its stab even in the face of bulky grasses, and it also is an incredible pelipper lure! While pelipper doesnt rly beat standard DD Gyarados 1v1 it is an effictive pivot against it and it can even fish for some scald burns, with this we just completely end the career of the pelican in one fell swoop. (we also 2HKO with our other moves which is just delightful)

252 SpA Choice Specs Gyarados Thunder vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 584-688 (180.8 - 213%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Gyarados Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 219-258 (67.8 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder

Usually chansey is free setup for rain but not if chansey is running thunder and can ohko after rocks

68+ SpA Chansey Thunder vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 244-288 (75.5 - 89.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Krookodile @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Darkest Lariat
- Thunder Fang

This takes me back when rain first came June last year and I used Adamant Thunder Punch Flygon to surprise kill Pelipper, good times.

252+ Atk Choice Band Krookodile Thunder Fang vs. 248 HP / 160+ Def Pelipper: 340-400 (105.2 - 123.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Krookodile Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 160+ Def Pelipper: 260-308 (80.4 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
You don't even KO and you have a higher chance of missing.

Rhyperior @ Focus Sash
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Metal Burst

Lol. Pelipper would def take an opportunity to scald here, so rhyp can live a hit and KO back with metal burst. You may wonder why I just don't stone edge, but rhyp needs a fair amount of attack investment to OHKO, plus this is just way more fun to use
