Project SS UU Lure That Threat! Week 25: Slowking (Submissions)

:ss/Nihilego:

Nihilego @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Knock Off
- Thunderbolt

While Specs Modest Nihilego is very rare and probably hasn't ever been used if i'm honest, it does a very good job at slamming stuff to hell and back, and this counts for Celesteela too!

252+ SpA Choice Specs Nihilego Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 226-268 (56.7 - 67.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

:Hatterene: (F) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 124 HP / 132 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire

If I Cm on the switch to celesteela, then mystical fire twice as the first heavy slam never ohko's me, and then on the next turn I activate custap berry and ohko it with a +1 mystical fire.

+1 252+ SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 200-236 (50.2 - 59.2%) -- 79.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 124 HP / 124 Def Hatterene: 240-284 (83.9 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

jirachi

:ss/Jirachi:

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpA / 136 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Psyshock

SubCM Jirachi absolutely owns and lures Celesteela, since with one CM up Flamethrower already has a chance to not break your Substitute, and Celesteela instantly becomes Setup Fodder. You do get walled by Krookodile so good luck on that LOL

0 SpA Celesteela Flamethrower vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Jirachi: 92-110 (22.7 - 27.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 120+ SpA Jirachi Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 172-204 (43.2 - 51.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

:ss/diggersby:
Diggersby @ Silk Scarf

Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance

- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

- Fire Punch

Fire Punch Diggersby is a good lure to Celesteela, as it is one of the few Pokemon to resist the Normal/Ground STAB combination. Celesteela comes in on Swords Dance since it mainly only runs STAB, and then gets OHKOed by Fire Punch.

Krookodile @ Soft Sand
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Smack Down
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
Clesteela likes to come in on krook because its immune to eq and only gets its leftovers knocked off and can leech stall krook out if if does not switch out but with smack down it can smash steela with a soft sand boosted eq which will annihilate spdef steela heres the calc:252 Atk Soft Sand Krookodile Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Celesteela: 356-420 (89.4 - 105.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO (after rocks it guarntees a kill)
And even defensive steela isnt safe beacaue krook has a high chance of 2hko steela heres the calc:252 Atk Soft Sand Krookodile Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Celesteela: 284-336 (71.3 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2hko
The inspiration for this set is from a lando set which is the adament soft sand smack down which is to lure corvey and just click eq which i used to bully standard fini BO on the ou ladder lol. Also ty for reading this have a great day!

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Bounce

Celesteela is one of the best switch ins to gyarados in the meta, as it can take boosted attacks and wear it down with leech seed for something to KO it later. However, this set sets up on Celesteela with ease due to it being unable to break the sub in a hit, allowing gyarados to boost lots and sweep the team. Can’t touch waters but other than washer and quag they hate taking a +4 or higher bounce.
0 Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gyarados: 66-78 (19.9 - 23.5%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

Voting is up! Congrats to D5405 for winning the week! Your submission will be added to the hall of fame. Now, let’s introduce this week’s threat!
:ss/Roserade:
Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Spikes
- Synthesis

This week we have Roserade! Roserade has been making a giant resurgence as a reliable spiker to support its team. It also has merits in checking threats like Amoonguss, primarina, and Tangrowth. How will you lure this threat? Submissions are due September 11 at 11:59 PM PST

:bw/rhyperior:
Rhyperior @ Choice Band
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch

- Heavy Slam / Megahorn / Fire Punch / Whatever

Standard Rhyperior is often falls short on its power in favor of its bulk, as Roserade can live Stone Edge or Earthquake on a pinch, send it flying with Leaf Storm, and can recover it off later with Synthesis. Rhyperior lures in Roserade by thinking it will set up Stealth Rock or use Toxic and blow it away with any of its Choice Band-boosted attacks.

252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 403-475 (154.4 - 181.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 403-475 (154.4 - 181.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 404-476 (154.7 - 182.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 323-380 (123.7 - 145.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Megahorn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 323-380 (123.7 - 145.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Payback
- Curse
- Mean Look
- Rest

As umbreon gets switched on by roserade and gets set up spikes in its face while doing 44% max to roserade with foul play, while it has recovery, can threaten poison, roserade will definitely switch in or stay in to attempt to do that. Mean look + curse traps it and uses it as set up fother as sludge bomb is a 4hko at best. Rest gives it reliable recovery against sludge bomb poisons while payback is the attack of choice because it benefits from moving last. Curse is like the only boosting move it has

252 SpA Roserade Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Umbreon: 85-102 (21.5 - 25.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Primarina @ Assault Vest
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 40 atk / 252 SpA / 216 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Moonblast
- Blizzard
- Aqua Jet

The goal here is that you have just enough spdef evs so that you can tank one leaf storm, hit back hard with a blizzard, that either one shots, or puts roserade into Aqua jet range. and then end it even after black sludge recovery, since the extra attack evs plus torrent ensure that the roserade isn't gonna win the 1 on 1.

252 SpA Roserade Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 216 SpD Assault Vest Primarina: 204-240 (67.7 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Primarina Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Roserade: 248-292 (95 - 111.8%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
40 Atk Torrent Primarina Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 38-45 (14.5 - 17.2%) -- possible 9HKO after Black Sludge recovery

:SM/Tentacruel:
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 28 SpA / 176 Spe/
8 Spd
Timid Nature
- Reflect Type
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb
You can switch in Tentacruel on their spike and from that position the Roserade player will most likely go for the sleep powder to put your tentacruel to sleep so that the spikes dont get rapid spinned away. But with this set you can outspeed and click reflect type on their sleep powder and the sleep powder will fail because you are now a grass poison type after the reflect type and now you can freely click rapid spin without getting slept by Roserade.

Seismitoad @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Power Whip / Liquidation

Been messing around with Rain a bit so offering physical Toad as a Roserade lure. Special Toads can 2HKO Roserade at best, so while the flower can't switch in while Rain is up, it can still force you out if it's healthy enough. EQ and Ice Punch both smash Roserade on its weaker Defense:

252+ Atk Life Orb Seismitoad Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 266-316 (101.9 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Seismitoad Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 268-317 (102.6 - 121.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

If you really wanted to lure Rose I guess you could run Weather Ball/Hydro Pump over Rocks or Whip to bluff a special set but I haven't played this game in months idk what's meta anymore :v

:Tentacruel: by D5405. This was a really really cool idea. However, this roserade is not running sleep powder, nullifying the purpose of the lure as it can just chip you down with sludge bomb while healing itself with synthesis. Great try though

This week we have primarina. An amazing defensive Pokémon the tier, primarina has the benefit of handling scary threats like keldeo, Salamence, aegislash, and kommo-o. Being able to lure and remove it will greatly open up your team for a sweep. How will you lure this threat? Submissions are due September 18 at 11:59 PM PST
