Project SS UU Victim Of The Week v2- Week 53: Darmanitan (Submissions)

:ss/roserade:
Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Spikes
- Sleep Powder
Roserade is a strong check to Seismitoad. Earth Power is a 2HKO and if rain is up Roserade cannot outspeed it, but otherwise it takes a hit cleanly and OHKOes back with Giga Drain.

252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Roserade: 152-179 (58.2 - 68.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 SpA Roserade Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Seismitoad: 604-712 (172 - 202.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Amoonguss (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Foul Play

DESCRIPTION:
Amoonguss is one of the top 5 Pokémon in the tier since it can be easily inserted into any team thanks to its ability to soak up attacks from top tier threats. Amoonguss is one of the biggest threats to hyper offensive rain teams, particularly acting as a counter to the main special sweeper, Seismitoad. With 252 HP and 36 SpD investment, it is guaranteed that Amoonguss will be 3HKO’ed by Seismitoad’s threatening STAB moves. Hence, Amoonguss can comfortably switch into any of Seismitoad’s attacks and retaliate with a Giga Drain, that is certain to OHKO and restore 40% of HP. However, the opponent will likely switch out into Salamence or another Grass-type counter, where Spore can create immense pressure that may lead to the opponent staying in with Seismitoad. Although it isn’t the most common, rain teams may run Stealth Rocks, which breaks Amoonguss’ ability to safety tank 3 STAB moves from Seismitoad. This can be played around thanks to Regenerator, which commonly allows Amoonguss to sit above 50% and switch in after a KO. Otherwise, Amoonguss can pivot into other ground immunities or water resists until it has recovered enough HP to tank Seismitoad’s attacks and KO it with Giga Drain.

CALCULATIONS:
252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Amoonguss: 181-214 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Weather Ball (100 BP Water) vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Amoonguss in Rain: 151-178 (34.9 - 41.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 SpA Amoonguss Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Seismitoad: 360-424 (102.5 - 120.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Choice Scarf Zarude!

:ss/Zarude-Dada:

Zarude @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip
- Darkest Lariat
- Jungle Healing
- U-turn

Scarf Monki outspeeds and OHKO’s with PWhip as along as you don’t miss, easy peasy

:ss/milotic:
Milotic @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 104 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Flip Turn
- Toxic
- Recover
Milotic is a very nice counter to Seismitoad (not to rain tho, as CC Barraskewda eats it), as it can tank two EPs and it hits back with Toxic (or Scald):
252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 104+ SpD Milotic: 109-130 (27.7 - 33%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Earth Power vs. -1 248 HP / 104+ SpD Milotic: 164-192 (41.7 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Very simple overall and idt it needs too much explanation, aside that it's not a rly viable pick and it's relegated to certain team structures.
Oh yeah and also, Recover (reliable recovery) is very valuable overall.

:ss/Gyarados:
Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Adamant Nature
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Power Whip

Gyarados is a check to Seismitoad, it takes little from its stabs and is only 3HKOd by sludge wave, so it can either KO seismitoad with power whip or use it as setup fodder.
252+ SpA Life Orb Seismitoad Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gyarados: 110-131 (33.2 - 39.5%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Gyarados Power Whip vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Seismitoad: 708-836 (201.7 - 238.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

:ss/Hydreigon:
Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon

This week we have the demonic dragon hydreigon! A new drop from OU, hydreigon is likely to be a massive terror with its nasty plot set, being a devastating wallbreaker that can beat threats like slowking, aegislash, and rotom-w. How will you take this beast on? Submissions are due October 5 at 11:59 PM

:Primarina: @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Primarina is a counter as it can switch in take minimal damage and threaten an ohko 100% of the time. With rest talk it can keep itself healthy through the game and still threaten an OHKO on hydreigon. Even at +2 Hydreigon does not even 2hko with stealth rocks up which makes it a hard counter

252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Primarina: 73-86 (20 - 23.6%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Primarina: 143-169 (39.2 - 46.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Primarina Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 540-640 (166.1 - 196.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

:ss/chansey:
Chansey is a check

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Soft-Boiled
- Teleport

Chansey can only threaten Hydreigon with a 4HKO and Hydregion can boost to +6 and simply beat over chansey, though Chansey can Teleport to a faster revenge killer like Mienshao or Lycanroc-Dusk. Chansey can also use Toxic to put Hydreigon on a timer.

+6 252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 526-621 (74.7 - 88.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Chansey Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Hydreigon: 100-100 (30.7 - 30.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

originally I was going to go with Mandibuzz but it turns out that even though Mandi can tank hits well it can't do shit back so instead I'm going for...

:ss/noivern:
Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hurricane
- Flamethrower
- Roost

Noivern is a strong check to Drei; it can't take a Draco unless Drei is at -2, but if swapped in safely it can outspeed easily and OHKO with a Draco of its own.

252 SpA Noivern Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 378-446 (116.3 - 137.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mienshao @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 100 HP / 156 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Fake Out

this would have been done earlier if i pressed preview instead of cancel :psyangry:

Ye old Gen 7 tech has returned for Mienshao, as Assault Vest allows it becomes a good check to Hydreigon. With the given spread, Mienshao is able to take a Choice Specs-boosted Draco Meteor from Hydreigon. The way Mienshao is able to check it is by coming in on it unboosted. This allows it to take Draco Meteor from full well. Even better if it comes in on any other move. After it comes in, just use CC, it's a guaranteed OHKO. Once it is KOed, Mienshao is freely able to pivot out again and doesn't have to worry about chip due to Regenerator.

252 SpA Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 100 HP / 156 SpD Assault Vest Mienshao: 51-61 (17.2 - 20.6%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 100 HP / 156 SpD Assault Vest Mienshao: 168-198 (56.7 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 100 HP / 156 SpD Assault Vest Mienshao: 69-82 (23.3 - 27.7%) -- 77.2% chance to 4HKO

0 Atk Mienshao Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 342-404 (105.2 - 124.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice

- Mystical Fire / Heal Bell
Tanks a hit and kills back:
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 68 SpD Sylveon: 333-393 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (that's for LO, Lefties is even better as it does 76 max).

Zygarde-10% @ Choice Band
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed
- Outrage
- Toxic

zydog is a soft check to hydreigon. it has no business switching into any of hydra’s attacks (even unboosted flash cannon does 77 on the lowest possible roll) but it can outspeed and KO with outrage. of course locking into outrage comes with its own set of caveats (especially if your opponent happens to have a fairy in the back) but in a vacuum it gets the job done.

252 Atk Choice Band Zygarde-10% Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 536-632 (164.9 - 194.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Liquidation
- Knock Off

Not exactly a counter like Prima but it is at the very least a solid check

:ss/keldeo:
Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind/Scald
- Air Slash

DESCRIPTION:
Nasty Plot Hydreigon is an intimidating addition to the UU tier, as UU is generally slower and bulkier than its former OU tier. As such, Hydreigon is only threatened by the few strong attackers that can outspeed and OHKO it once it has set up. Hence, Keldeo is an amazing check for Nasty Plot Hydreigon. Keldeo resists Hydreigon’s more spammable moves, Dark Pulse and Flash Cannon, and threatens it back with a faster Secret Sword that will OHKO even a bulkier Hydreigon build. Switching Keldeo in immediately when the opposing Hydreigon comes out may be feasible since the opponent would likely set up one Nasty Plot. If Hydreigon attacks instead, Keldeo can live all of Hydreigon’s unboosted attacks, but Draco Meteor may leave Keldeo with less than 20% HP left if it hits. Hence, it can only switch into Hydreigon once and must switch in carefully.

CALCULATIONS:

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Secret Sword vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 452-534 (139 - 164.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 225-265 (69.6 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 69-82 (21.3 - 25.3%) -- 0.2% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Hydreigon Flash Cannon vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 46-55 (14.2 - 17%) -- possible 6HKO
