Project SS UU Victim Of The Week v2- Week 53: Darmanitan (Submissions)

:ss/Chandelure:
Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
- Trick

Second week submitting Chandelure lmao. Anyway, this is a check to subtoxic aegislash. With the ability infiltrator, it can bypass aegislash's sub and KO it with a shadow ball or fire blast.
252 SpA Choice Specs Chandelure Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 434-512 (133.9 - 158%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Remember for all those who are have reserved a check/counter or plan to submit one that the deadline is Tuesday, March 16 at 11:59 PM GMT-8

COUNTER

:ss/Celesteela:
Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Flamethrower
- Heavy Slam

It can't get toxic'd, it can use Leech Seed through King's Shield, and it takes little damage from Shadow Ball. And it has Flamethrower. Really subtox Aegi can't do ANYTHING to do this you guys should use it more if you have subtox Aegi issues.

bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

Nominating Bisharp as a check to SubToxic Aegislash. Bisharp makes Aegislash complete setup fodder, allowing it to force it out, or KO it. Black Glasses allows Bisharp to still give its Dark STAB extra power without Life Orb chip. The immunity to Toxic also helps. Bisharp can also take advantage of King's Shield by getting a Defiant boost, giving it +1 Attack rather than -1.

252+ Atk Black Glasses Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Blade: 306-362 (94.4 - 111.7%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Bisharp: 101-119 (37.2 - 43.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

:ss/kommo-o:
Missclicked (Kommo-o) @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Scale Shot
- Substitute

Kommo-o as a counter, just dont come in on a toxic lmao and then u win the game gz ggs was fun better luck next time
+6 252 Atk Kommo-o Scale Shot (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 162-192 (50 - 59.2%) -- approx. 86.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
worst case they switch after you are +2 and u win the game without getting to +6

::ss/scizor:
Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Roost

Submitting scizor as a check as it's immune to toxic and tanks a shadow ball and just roosts it off and can stall all day just only losing to critical hits and can possibly revenge with knock off as you can see in this calc: 0 Atk Scizor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Blade: 304-358 (93.8 - 110.4%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

Time to vote! We got a lot of submissions this week, all being very good checks and counters to SubToxic Aegislash. Believe me, if I could vote for them all I would. Enough rambling, down below are this weeks checks and counters.

Voting time is over! Congrats to HydreigonTheChild for taking first place among the checks while both 25oof and UrAverageHuman tied for the runner-up. Additionally, Askov won for the counters with Codename Magnum in a close second. Congrats all of you! Your submissions will be added to the hall of fame shortly. Now, lets take a look at the next victim!
:ss/Kyurem:
Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Roost
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power

This week we have Kyurem, a devastating wall breaker in UU. With its high natural bulk and brutally strong attacks like Ice Beam and Draco Meteor, nothing wants to switch into this guy. He is so good that OU is taking it for themselves for the April tier shifts. Changing things up, I want you to find checks and counters for the SubRoost set instead of Choice Specs, a cool set that lets Kyurem bypass normal answers to it like Chansey while still destroying the regenerator cores. However, this week will also be A DOUBLE POINTS WEEK, meaning that the winner gets 4 points instead of 2. This is the time to show off your stuff and use this chance to soar to the top of the pack to win the cycle. Submissions are due Tuesday, March 23, at 11:59 PM GMT-8.

Also, I am going to be evaluating checks and counters differently this time in particular. Since kyurem can easily get a substitute on most of the metagame, when finding an answer to Kyurem, it must beat Kyurem even if the Substitute is up. For example, normally Lycanroc-D would work fine as a check, but the sub lets Kyurem take a hit and OHKO back with earth power, making Lycanroc-D a shaky check and it will not count in this instance. Feel free to message me here or on discord if you are unsure about your submission. Now, lets get to it

francis forever (Sylveon) @ Heavy Duty Boots / Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Mystical Fire / Heal Bell

Sylveon is an underrated mon rn imo. It has solid bulk and works nicely against the trending Kyurem. Hyper Voice lets Sylveon bypass Sub and does enough damage as to not get pp stalled by Roost. It can counter Kyurem and take advantage of it to Wish pass or Heal Bell.

Scizor @ Metal Coat
Ability: Technician
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Roost

Bulky Swords Dance Scizor is an excellent hard check to SubRoost Kyurem. Strong priority in Bullet Punch to go before an attack or a Substitute, as well as plenty of PP to not Pressure stalled. Swords Dance can allow an already strong Bullet Punch to OHKO Kyurem. Roost can allow it to not be worn down by multiple Earth Powers.

252+ Atk Metal Coat Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 284-336 (70.1 - 82.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
200 SpA Kyurem Earth Power vs. 120 HP / 0 SpD Scizor: 114-135 (36.6 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Changing to Noivern!

:ss/noivern:

Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- U-turn

couldn't find a cool art :(

Noivern as the natural luxury of being and incredibly fast Pokemon with Infiltrator, which is enables it to hit through Kyurem's Substitute. Draco has a 62.5 chance to OHKO Kyurem at 100%, which it's hopefully never going to be at due to Sub. This means that it is a guaranteed kill on Kyurem if it's given a free switch while it had its sub up, and even has the odds in its favour with sub up!

Pokemon-TCG-Rhyperior-Card-Art.jpg

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rock Blast
- High Horsepower
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance

Rhyperior can either come in directly into Kyurem behind a sub since Free-Dry is a 3HKO (less probable since Rhyperior gets worn down v easily) or revenge kill Kyurem with Rock Blast. Granted Rock Blast hits, it always breaks Kyu's sub and lands another hit on Kyu, doing some good damage even if just one hit.
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 171-202 (39.4 - 46.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Rhyperior Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 240-288 (59.2 - 71.1%) -- approx. 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Steela the Kyurem Murderer (Counter)
:ss/celesteela:
Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 184 HP / 72 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Air Slash

While regular steela's can also counter kyurem this one has been optimized to do it more effectively, it can safely come in as freeze-dry is a measly 5hko and every other attack it carries does absolutely nothing, it has double attacks so that PP stalling is out of the question and if Kyurem decides to not put up a substitue in its attempts to pp stall it can get seeded which inmediately forces it out
Getting past steela will not be easy.

CALCS
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 184 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 79-94 (20.7 - 24.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
72 SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 102-120 (25.1 - 29.6%)
0 Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (80 BP) vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 192-228 (47.4 - 56.2%)

Reserving Hatterene

:hatterene:
Hatterene @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Draining Kiss
- Mystical Fire

Hatterene is a fine check to SubRoost Kyurem. Hatterene's natural bulk lets it take Freeze Drys before a CM reasonably well, and it can heal off any damage taken from an attack on the switch via Draining Kiss. If Kyurem tries to sub on the switch, Hatterene can start boosting up with Calm Mind and win with Draining Kiss. To wit:

200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 109-129 (34.2 - 40.5%) -- 48.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 73-87 (22.9 - 27.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 152-182 (37.5 - 44.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 230-272 (56.7 - 67.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Of course, you'll have to mind your HP, but given how effective Hatterene itself is as a general hazard deterrent, it shouldn't be too difficult to keep it from getting chipped too much.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 40 SpD / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Wish
- Protect

Jirachi is a very good defensive check to kyurem due to:
- Being faster than it (319 speed jirachi vs 317 speed kyurem)
- Having good natural bulk combined with EV's
- Having a super effective stab that is very annoying for kyurem to deal with
- Being able to recover damage that kyurem does to it

0 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 188-224 (46.4 - 55.3%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO
200 SpA Kyurem Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 40 SpD Jirachi: 182-216 (45 - 53.4%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

These calcs show that wish jirach is able to wish protect off earth powers while Iron head has a very good chance to 2hko kyurem while having a 60% chance on top of that to not make it move. Wish allows jirachi to be able to constantly come in on kyurem freeze dry or roost and pressure it heavily. Jirachi is not a counter due to earth power after chip such as spikes, weak moves, and status such as burn pressure it into burning way more wish PP and not being able to check kyurem throught the game if chip cannot be avoided since kyurem earth powers pressure constant wishes

Grimmsnarl @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 132 SpD / 124 Spe
Careful Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- Spirit Break

Grimm as a counter because you can use spirit break to break the sub(idk if it drops spatk with sub, if it does, even better.) It can even taunt it from subbing again or roosting off subs. On top of that it can set up light screen for a teammate like Celesteela set up for free without fearing getting stalled out.

0 Atk Grimmsnarl Spirit Break vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 206-246 (50.8 - 60.7%) -- 89.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Grimmsnarl: 109-129 (27.6 - 32.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Grimmsnarl through Light Screen: 54-64 (13.7 - 16.2%) -- possible 7HKO

:ss/Mew:
Mew @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Cosmic Power
- Rest
- Stored Power
- Body Press

Demon Mew sort of just eats this alive - I can't think of a more perfect Pokemon than SubRoost Kyurem for Demon Mew to freely set up on and proceed to destroy. Kyurem can't even stay in with a sub up because it risks letting the Mew set up infinitely as it does minimal damage. All Mew even needs is one Cosmic Power anyways to start breaking with Body Press, but the real danger is setting up multiple times so that the entire rest of the Kyurem's team is gone afterwards.

:ss/Alakazam:
Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot

Gonna change this to a check since I dont want to cross over too much. Anyway, Alakazam is a check to subroost kyurem. With a free switch, it is able to break the sub, live a freeze dry, and KO back with focus blast.

252 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Psychic vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 216-255 (53.3 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
200 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Alakazam: 115-136 (45.8 - 54.1%) -- 50% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 382-452 (94.3 - 111.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Remember for all those who have made a reservation to complete them, and that any other submissions are due Tuesday, March 23 at 11:59 PM GMT-8. We got a lot of submissions! I'm really hyped for this week
