Stats up!

I would like to create this post to know what Stat up poke is your favourite, and in your opinion the best. I would like to read your sets too, so we could do a good thread with this.

My two favourites are:

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 168 HP/120 Def/220 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Crunch/Earthquake
- Rest
- Curse

Dragonite @ Yache Berry
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 56 HP/252 Atk/200 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Dance

Let do a good thread.

If you're going to make a thread, you at least should start out with some discussion of your favorites..

Now, what seems to be one of the most popular (and also one of my favorite) stat up sets is no other than Brightpowder SD Garchomp.

Garchomp @ Brightpowder
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
-Outrage/Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Substitute
-Swords Dance

It's painfully obvious why this set is so good; with 28% evasion, Garchomp is very likely to get a sub/SD up with minimal damage, and then proceeds to sweep. Sets with Outrage tend to backfire at times, which is why DC is a viable, although weaker, alternative.

Even countering this set is a chance of luck; any revenge killer coming in with ice beam/ice shard/ice punch (I'm looking at you, Weavile and Mamoswine), has to think: Am I feeling lucky? If a sub and SD is up, it's GG unless you have two revenge killers who are speedier/packing ice shard.

Focus Sash is negated due to sandstorm, so that's a no go. Weather changing could also help in countering, but there's only one OU that can even do that on the switch in, and that's Abomasnow, who is mauled if it stays in.

Bronzong can also counter Garchomp to an extent, either by switching in on EQ or a DC. Bringing in Intimidators like Gyarados/Salamence as Garchomp is trying to set up usually forces switches; but if it's sword danced already, better switch out unless it's Bulkydos.

Lickilicky (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 224 HP/56 Atk/92 Def/136 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Wish
- Curse
- Protect
- Return

A bit of an imitation of your Snorlax but I find that the combination of Wish and Protect works a lot better than Rest and that Return is the best attacking move because of 102 base power and STAB. I know I have problems with Gengar but you would with EQ on Curselax and I find that I can sometimes outstall him.

edit: Critical hits with Close Combat (Heracross) are the real bugger though (they ignore defence boosts) although you could say that with pretty much everything...

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Bold, Levitate
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpAtk
Block
Calm Mind
Psychic
Hidden Power: Fighting

Rapes anyone stupid enough to not switch out their Gliscor/Donphan/Roarless Hippowdon/Mamoswine/whatever can't hurt Bronzong. Unless they carry Spiritomb, but whatever.

Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Bold,Pressure
252 hp/252 def./6 S.atk
Calm Mind
Shadow Ball
Hp Fighting
Pain Split

This thing is really good(specially when you have no weakness).I lost count of how many times it pwned for me(it was my permanent CM user in BL...until it rised to OU.Crap)

Hitmonchan @ Life Orb/Expert Belt
Adamant,Iron Fist
252 hp/252 sp.def/6 atk

Bulk Up
Drain Punch
Ice Punch
Thunderpunch

Yes...strange,isn't it?But it can defend itself really well thanks to Bulk Up and 110sp.def,recovering energy with Drain Punch(boosted by Iron Fist)

Great ones!. Anyway, I see that "the best stats upers" are these ones that have good defensive stats, a reliable recovery move and enough coverage. I think that maybe the next could be quite useful:

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Attack)
- Grass Knot
- Psychic
- Recover
- Calm Mind

Calm Mind will boost its Special Attack and Special Defense, so I put all the EVs in HP and Defense, so he could be more bulky. With Grass Knot and Psychic it will get two strong STABs. No the best coverage, but after few Calm Minds, STAB hurts NVE. Recover is what make it a big Calm Minder I think, and with Natural Cure, it has good defense against walls. All its weakness are the main problem.

I want to know if you could find other like this, which can recover with a good recovering move (Rest isn't a good one. Poor Snorlax). Lets find a good one!! And easy to get ingame... (Europe doesn't exist to Nintendo xD)

Well, since Raichu's my favorite Pokemon...

Raichu @ Focus Sash
Timid Nature
252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 252 HP
-Thunderbolt
-Grass Knot
-Nasty Plot
-Encore

Encores the other stat-uppers like Ninjask, Nasty Plots up, and brings the pain with its Thunderbolt/Grass Knot combo. I've taken quite a few teams down with just this Pokemon, it's just awesome.

Pros:
-Massive damage if you manage 3 Nasty Plots
-Thunderbolt/Grass Knot has surprisingly good coverage
-2HKO on Blissey (From what I remember, with 3 Nasty Plots of course)
-3 Nasty Plots = OHKO on everything basically
-Can put a stop to stat-upping Pokemon (Such as Ninjask)
-It's Raichu, what more do you want? :D

Cons:
-Raichu can be outsped by common Pokemon like Infernape and Gengar
-It may take a while to get your stat-ups
-Raichu is pretty fragile
-Sandstorm ruins the Focus Sash

Here's one that I've found very successful (and will likely use on all of my teams). I wasn't the first to come up with the spread, but it's very effective for the set.

Salamence @ Life Orb
Naive 32 HP / 252 Atk / 60 SpA / 164 Spe
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Fire Blast

"ChainMence"? Well, it's a ChainChomp-like set, anyway, exchanging Swords Dance and Ground STAB for Dragon Dance, slightly higher Atk, and higher SpA.

Naive and 164 Speed EVs outruns ScarfChomp after a DD.

60 Special Attack EVs guarantees the OHKO on Skarmory. (I may need 4 or 8 more since that statement was based on Metalkid's calculator, and it has been recently found to have minor errors. I don't know if they have been fixed yet.)

After filling the Atk, the rest is poured into HP, resulting in 339 HP and "minimal" Life Orb recoil.

This set has worked out very effectively for me and can sweep teams pretty well. How do you like this, Garchomp? :D

Pssshhhh... all these pogeys pale in comparison to Rayquaza!

Rayquaza @ Focus Sash
Adamant 252 Attack / 252 Speed
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Outrage/Overheat

I don't even need to explain why this set destroys. Sash guarantees one dance, if they switch you get two. Then its more or less game over unless they've got a sashed counter. Thanks for playing.

Rhyperior @ Expert Belt
Trait: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Def/ 4 SpDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide/ Protect
- Sword Dance

I use this set in a 2vs2 Trick Room team, and it's scary. Hopefully Competitor has 2vs2.

Well damn, Odinwolf, then you've got to consider Swords Dance Arceus, Tail Glow Manaphy, Calm Mind Darkrai, Bulk Up Dialga, Calm Mind Giratina, Swords Dance Groudon...

...

(Six hours later)

...and Bulk Up Palkia! You want to open that can of worms? That's like Pandora's fucking Box! XD

You can also run effectively the same set on a Slowbro, with Surf/Ice Beam, Psychic/HP Whatever, CM, Slack Off.

You pretty much hit my favorite two out of the gate, except I use Lum Berry on Dragonite to keep the Outrage going. I should probably switch to Yache Berry though.

Not my personal favorite, but I seem to see a LOT of BulkyDos from the Strategy Dex, often with Dragon Dance/Taunt/Waterfall/Stone Edge moveset to counter other Gyarados.

464.png

Rhyperior (♂) @ Life Orb
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 20 HP/252 Atk/236 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

Hits 384 Spd after a Polish as the oncoming Skarm comes in, then SDs as it sets up spikes thinking I'm gonna switch, hitting 758 Atk after a SD and then OHKOs most Skarmory and just gg's everything else.

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Adamant
252 Atk/252 Speed

- Belly Drum
- Fire Punch
- Double-Edge/sub
- Earthquake

Classic Bellyzard set. I love it, but I have came to the absolute conclusion that Bellyzard is DEAD in DP. The Stealth Rock problem is minor, and can be used to your advantage more often than not, but the bitch is the sheer amount of priority attacks.

Lucario, Metagross, Weavile, Mamoswine, Scizor, Dusknoir, Dugtrio, Spiritomb, Donphan, Ambipom, Azumarill, Arcanine and Hitmontop are all common Pokemon that are very likely (certain in some cases) to carry a priority attack that will end Charizard's rampage. Then there's other things like Deoxys-E, Ninjask and random Scarf Pokemon, not to mention Focus Sashes (although this is easily solved to be fair). On a competitive team, Bellyzard is just a waste of a team slot and a burden to the whole team.

But he sure is a lot of fun, which is why I felt he deserved a mention! :)

Lee, I find Jolly Works better on BellyZard. You need to outspeed. You still OHKO most things. Either way Cresselia and another Pokemon that I am forgetting gives you trouble, especially if Cressy carris Charge Beam.

nobody said infernape.. he can go NP or SD.

I'd say my favorites are

NP Porygon Z

NP Houndoom.. Houndoom is especially great if it gets flash fire boost, and plots on the switch.. shit will destroy teams if their speciall wall is down.

My fav for my fav poke

EVS: 126 Hp/ 146 Sp Att/ 236 Spd

Hidden Power (Fighting 70)Substitute
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind

Evs here only work if the hp iv is 26, if it was 28 or 30 (for hp fighting) you would subtract 8 or 4 and put them into Sp Att.

Anyway, this is my absolute fav set period. This pokemon is amazing. I have been down 6-1 and come back with this poke. Its great at stating up because it has 3 immunities, making it super easy to get off at least one calm mind, or just sub up.

If you have a baton passer on your team thats slow, the best thing you can do is pass this some speed. Thats really its only weakness, being out sped. Try it, have fun with it.

-Swords Dance

That is looked down by everyone and makes you look like a douche. Sets can't rely on hax items, better yet hax in case you are trying to test you're opponent's luck with ridiculous evasiveness.

Anyway, favorite set up set is....you guessed it....

Lucario
Naive
252 attack/ 252 speed/ 6 hp
Life Orb

Hp Ice
Swords Dance
Extremespeed
Close Combat

God that thing is a beast in the late game. I have countless logs of 6-0ing people that switch in Gliscor on a swords dance.

Also love MoPcross.

I find this set to be alot more deadly if you go with an Adamant nature, take off some Attack and Speed Ivs, and invest them into defense, it lets it hang around a little bit longer, none the less, I fucking despise this set just as much as I do HaxChomp.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet. This is my absolute favorite!

suicune.png

Suicune @ Leftovers
Bold
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpDef
- Surf
- Rest
- Calm Mind
- Sleep Talk

Also known as CroCune, this set just seems to last forever. Even if Starmie comes in while you CM, you can CM again and eventually beat it with Pressure, Rest, and some luck with STalk. After 2 CMs or so, it's practically invincible to anything not STABed and Electric or Explosion.

Oh, I didn't know your opinion constituted everyone else's. Hax keeps the game exciting. You've got to use the tools you're given with to win, not to fuss over what is 'fair' or some other shit.
