Strategy Analysis: Doom Desire and Future Sight (revived)

damn i might make a BP team whos main job is getting +6 attack to a CB adamant Doom desire Jiraichi

Doom Desire rocks.

Shedinja:
Hermit took Doom Desire's attack!
(100% damage)
Hermit fainted!

Subseeder
Sceptile used Substitute!
Sceptile made a Substitute!
---------------------------------
Jiggarachi used Hidden Power!
The Substitute took damage for Sceptile!
Sceptile's Substitute faded!
---------------------------------
Jiggarachi's health is sapped by Leech Seed!
Sceptile took Doom Desire's attack!
(63% damage)

Doom Desire, switch to immune poke (tbolt here), switch back to pokemon (predicted hidden power was ice)
Sarenji withdrew Glidar!
Sarenji sent out Jiggarachi (Lv.100 Jirachi)!
---------------------------------
Jolteon used Hidden Power!
(35 damage)
It's not very effective...
---------------------------------
Jolteon took Doom Desire's attack!
(51% damage)
Jolteon fainted!

Just another subber.
Gengar used Substitute!
Gengar made a Substitute!
---------------------------------
Jiggarachi used Hidden Power!
The Substitute took damage for Gengar!
Gengar's Substitute faded!
---------------------------------
Gengar took Doom Desire's attack!
(50% damage)

Sandstorm really helps with Doom Desire. Then again, so does +6 attack.

Jiggarachi used Hidden Power!
(75% damage)
Umbreon fainted!
0nyx sent out Gengar (Lv.100 Gengar)!
---------------------------------
Gengar took Doom Desire's attack!

Jiggarachi used Hidden Power!
(100% damage)
Dragonite fainted!
0nyx sent out Jolteon (Lv.100 Jolteon)!
---------------------------------
Jolteon took Doom Desire's attack!
(94% damage)
Jolteon fainted!

Also, don't use CB. You'll be wasting much needed PP :(

Imagine this, Jirachi uses Doom Desire and they switch to Skarmoy, you switch in Magneton, kill Skarm, they send out Dugtrio and he takes the attack for being a a fagmon. Would that work?

damn this sounds like potenal hotness i may have to post in a CB Analysis thread with a updated CB Jirachi with DD

I think Wish would be a good addition to this analysis, since it takes a while to happen also. Most people know about wish, but I guess it'd help newer players.

why would a skarmory switch into a jirachi?

my idea for a BP team to get +6 attack to CB adamant Doom desire Jirachi

probably not very fluid but since this is a example that doesn't matter much

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 60 HP / 48 Def / 224 Spd / 168 SAtk / 8 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

mainly used to get skarm outta the way and then passes agi and sub to Jirachi

Ninjask (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 228 HP / 240 Atk / 36 Spd / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Swords Dance
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Substitute

Passes Speed and Swords dance boosts to Chi

Gengar (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 248 Atk / 248 Spd / 8 SAtk
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Explosion
- Ice Punch
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb

team filler member

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 116 HP / 40 Atk / 176 Spd / 168 SAtk / 8 SDef
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Focus Punch
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

filler member

Marowak (M) @ Thick Club
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Bug]
- Rock Slide

another team filler

Jirachi @ Choice Band
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def / 216 Spd / 20 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- Doom Desire
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Shadow Ball

probably not the best set and wack EVs but HP dirt aces Maggy and SB slays Gengar AA is filler

imo CB won't work on DoomD Jirachi since it would waste the PP. You'd have to switch out losing you +6 bonus if you were an extremely unfavorable position (ie, stuck using HP Ground against Skarm) and unless you were using HP Ground previously Maggy would still come in for the ko. Obviously lose CB, so that Jirachi can have some dictation on what he can counter. If you get the +6 to him, he won't need it anyway. If you don't get the +6 to him, he still won't need cb because there are more Cons than pros.

Wish or something would probably be better than AA also.

Mother of all bumps to say that one strategy I've seen that is highly dangerous is to use CB Jirachi with Doom Desire, and then switch to a Screecher. Screech will help boost the damage caused by Doom Desire. Especially effective with Spikes down, so they can't even safely switch out of Screech.

Unfortunately Doom Desire\Future Sight doesn't work like that. Its damage is set when you first use it, based on the original target's Defense\SpDef. You'd have to use Screech first, then use Doom Desire. It's not nearly half as effective then.

OK, Sarenji just verified that Netbattle is wrong, and it uses the defense at the time of using the move, not at the time of striking.

Jirachi Doom Desire versus Rayquaza:

RAYQUAZA: 94 damage, everything normal
RAYQUAZA: OHKOed by Jirachi after switching in from L5 Igglybuff, who was Doom Desired.
RAYQUAZA: 178 damage from Jirachi after switching in from Charizard, who was Doom Desired.
RAYQUAZA: 189 damage with -2 Def
RAYQUAZA: 26 damage from -6 attack Jirachi

STATS:
Jirachi: 225 Attack
Rayquaza: 214 Defense
Charizard: 127 Defense

Future Sight is the same thing.

EDIT: This is ADV.

Yeah, I was really surprised when I was fighting a level 50 wild Uxie with a level 11 Murkrow and switched to a level 50 Mesprit to take the Future Sight; it OHKOed without even a critical hit.

I played for a night this past weekend and had some small success with CM/Wish/Protect/FS on a TSS team. Tough against other spikers though with all the switching out that FS/DD Jirachi has to do.
