Alright so after some consideration, this is the team I came up with. I wanted to try and do something different from my usual balanced teams without legendaries, so I made an offensive team including celebi and heatran. I also have never had starmie or scizor in a team so I wanted to incorporate them. My team building process was kinda complicated by I'll put down the important stuff.
I wanted both these guys off the bat, mostly because I've never used either of them, also because they work fairly well together. I was going to have starmie as a rapid spinner and scizor as a revenge killer, which well everybody uses him for. I thought this was a pretty good base for a team to build up from.
Originally I wanted flygon as a DDer, but to my great annoyance he doesn't learn it. I put DDer tyranitar in his place instead. Mostly for his strong atk.
At this point I had been reading a lot about fire/grass/water cores, so I thought this would be a good chance to try one out and incorporate some legendaries. I also needed some pokemon that could set up (celebi), and somebody to lay down stealth rock (heatran).
I was planning on using a metagross lead, but decided against it because I wanted to try something different, I already have a steel type and a fire weakness, and I wanted a spin blocker. So I decided to go for the more inconventional Gengar lead because I love Gengar and I could take on some popular leads with him.
So my final team
Gengar@focus sash
252 SpA 252 SpE 4 HP
Mild/hasty Nature
Levitate
-Shadow ball
-Focus blast/taunt
-Counter
-Icy wind
Pretty much the icy wind lead in the site, which i saw and immediately took a liking to. I thought that the counter-focus sash tactic would be neat to try and use and would help me stop leads I've had trouble with (metagross). I was considering making him more bulky by giving him more HP to cause more damage but i decided i wanted more power instead, and counter is dealing back heavy damage anyway. Icy wind is for taking out aerodactyl and other such leads and focus blast and shadow ball are pretty solid options.
Starmie@choice scarf
252 SpA 252 SpE 4 HP
Modest nature
Natural Cure
-Ice beam
-Recover
-T-bolt
-Surf/hydro pump
Rapid spinner with some offensive punch. I went for surf instead of ice beam for stab, but I might go with hydro pump for more power. I can't really decide though, I'm happy with surf for now
Heatran@Shuca berry
40 Atk 216 SpA 252 SpE
Naive nature
Flash fire
-Stealth rock
-Flamethrower
-Earth power
-Explosion
The resident stealth rock user, will appear after scizor or celebi to hopefully absorb a fire attack directed at them. Once he gets the boost lay down stealth rock while my opponent switches (hopefully) then explode in his face or attack. The 40 Atk EV's are for a little more punch in his explosion.
Celebi@life orb
232 HP 240 SpA 36 SpE
Modest nature
Natural Cure
-T-wave
-Leaf Storm
-HP fire
-Recover
One of my setup sweepers, abusing nasty plot and trying to take out some bulky waters and stuff once some of his counters are down. I was planning on using him along with scizor as fire bait to allow heatran that free switch.
Scizor@choice band
200 HP 56 Atk 252 SpD
Adamant nature
Technician
-Bullet punch
-uturn
-superpower
-pursuit
I liked the uber set much better than the OU set as he's bulky enough to take a hit, but half his moves can be priority so he will attack first anyway. Not much more to say about him, since he's pretty well known. He has a powerful pursuit as well, and between him and tyranitar hopefully they can catch something.
Tyranitar@leftovers
252 Atk 252 SpE 4 HP
Jolly nature
Sand stream
-Dragon Dance
-Fire punch
-Stone edge
-Earthquake
My pride and joy, he's my late game DD sweeper who packs a powerful pursuit. His moveset is pretty decent but he gets completely walled by skarmory or bronzong. I might take fire punch over EQ but for now I'm relatively happy with it, especially as he is meant to sweep late game and by that time hopefully heatran has taken out those pesky steel types.
Alright so this is my team. Just to recap it's meant to be incredibly offensive, and try to gain momentum as early as possible. I have a feeling I'll struggle against stall teams, but none of my friends run them so I haven't seen action against one yet. A big point of this team is to switch around and gain the advantage, while getting rid of status from natural cure. This team has a lot of immunities which will help me switch around a bit. After I've gotten a favourable setup fodder pokemon, I'll switch in either celebi, or tyranitar and start setting up. I might consider switching out starmie for a calm minding suicune, but I would like your opinions first. So ya any advice would be nice, thanks for your time :D I can put in a threat list but I don't have time at the moment
Changes are in bold
