So Zama-h is getting banned now, and then, sneasler maybe? Or volc? Kinda surprised because I thought these two would be suspect candidates as opposed to quick bans.

I'm not sure if 3 new airstream sweepers as effective as gyara/togekiss/corv would take their place if they were banned, but that's some dead-end speculation of a dead meta regardless. Dynamax is mechanically stronger than Tera, and its best abusers are carried much harder by dmax than tera's best abusers are carried by tera. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to ban multiple pokemon in an effort to preserve an unhealthy mechanic.

Everything else you've said, I can agree with.

The only way to end discussion on tera is to ban tera :mehowth: join me
 
volc was clearly not made with tera in mind, but it also wasnt made with almost any of the gen 8 - 9 changes in mind. boots, less counterplay and no longer fearing toxic chip is just insane, with tera being the cherry on the evil fucked up cake top. I think if tera goes after volc, volc would still stay banned.

I dont find Sneasler a big deal, and dire claw is just gimmick bs, but I wonder if anyone would want to talk more about how the new pokemon philosophy for moves is clashing with smogons ban philosophy. Feels like every gen we'll get 30 new moves on random mons where at least 2 will be broken, vs the old games only giving signature moves to legendaries and then 3 special normal mons, and most of it not mattering.

is it cause they are attackers and smogon continues to lobby around toxic pokemon like toxapex (pun TOTALLY intended!!)..?

I am serious, I would like to have fun playing Pokemon but you people at Smogon just make it plum frickin impossible.!
 
sad to see shifu go as i had so much fun using it but also understandable given how limited its' checks are

edit: i'm also pretty surprised that sneasler didnt reach near any ban or suspect threshold given how terrible dire claw is

Volc was hard checked by Tran, Nite, Ceru, etc w/o Tera

Urshi losing it's fighting type so u can't revenge it has nothing to do w SD

Also, lmao at so many pro-tera "logic" posts about play around tera or check tera w tera.
Volc was a prime example of how tera adds too much variance.
Other mons are just less prime examples but the issue remains.

Crowned was 100% more broken, just less annoying to play against.
 
Wouldn't it be wiser to suspect Tera before Zamazenta? Because if Zama is suspect, we would waste a lot of time not to act on the central problem of the metagame.

And why Zama don't quickbanned with 2/3 votes?
 
I never think that Watershifu gonna get banned but it is what it is.
Volcarona got banned after 5 gen of brokeness. Maybe a retest if terra get nuked sometime in the future...
Zama is still alive somehow
 
Not surprised by Urshifu leaving but I’m shocked the council went ahead with banning Volc. Even reading through the reasoning this decision doesn’t make much sense to me. Yes, the mon has always been a horrible match-up fishing monstrosity, but even with the introduction of Tera there are plenty of mons that can counter it, Clod, Heatran, Gastro and Pex to name a few. Tera Ground/Grass can get it past some of these but overreliance on Tera is surely a massive downside, and frankly Volc isn’t sweeping that often without it. The mon is one-dimensional and while a correctly timed Tera can make it difficult to stop, I wouldn’t consider it broken. Certainly not as broken as the ID doggo. A suspect test would have been better imo especially since there wasn’t a massive level of community support for a quickban.

What tier are you even playing lol

Infernape is currently not released in Scarlet and Violet, Dialga has a ridiculous BST and typing that would break the metagame, and idk what you're smoking because Staraptor is perfectly legal (actually it's kinda bad). I get this is bait but try harder next time.

In fact, I'm 99% sure we have a BDSP Ubers format if you want to play that. Well, BDSP Ubers is dead but you can still play Gen 4 Ubers. Or NatDex Ubers.
