Why the fuck does dragonite deal like 24 damage to everything with espeed without tera bruh

Even at +1 WITH Tera Normal it's still not picking up OHKOs on the weakest shit like moth and ival

(Still a good mon but MAN it doesn't hit hard for a 134 attack mon with ddance)

80 bp is really low for a mon to be ohkoing things with. Dragonite only has a 50ish percent chance to OHKO Iron Moth at +1 with Tera Normal ESpeed, while Dragapult has an 80ish percent chance at +1 with Dragon Darts. +14 base attack matters less than +20 move base power.

Also the only reason Iron Moth doesn't get ohkod is because it actively has to run defense evs lol.

It's stats are a bit low, not to mention Sinistcha exists. 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Brambleghast: 102-120 (32.4 - 38.2%). In contrast to the Hot Leaf Juice: 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Sinistcha: 83-98 (23.9 - 28.3%).

I don't think role compressing a Spikes setter and Spinblocker for a way worse Wellspring check is very worth it

The only niche Brambleghast has in OU is that of a Tailwind sweeper, with +1 Poltergeist doing impressive damage to everything until its inevitably stopped by Kingambit. Its not a good niche, but at least it isn,t outclassed by Fraudtcha at doing it.

Not really an OU player but I remember in a draft league during SS among friends I beat one of the toughest dudes via DNite v Strength Sap Vileplume. My team was named after it but I didn’t realize it’d be MVP (think I started last among finalists but ended the final round second)

All the reasons you think it's good.

Blessed speed tier, good offenses, decent speed control, phenomal status spreader and abuser via Hex, respectable breaker with Specs or Banded sets, fits on a bunch of teams. That's not even mentioning all the stuff it annoys with either it's STABs or status. Dragapult is just one of those "good ass pokemon" kind of mons.

I mean Pecharunt has seen more usage recently. Lots of Pecharunt Offenses. That one Lando Pecharunt Cinderace team has been used on ladder quite a bit recently, while Tinkaton has… fallen off, unfortunately. I’m not sure why, it should still be good. Sinistcha falling off is weird, except it isn’t, Kyurem’s back.

even setting aside the fact that no tinkaton is ever switching in on zamazenta or garganacl, it (and sinistcha) boasts extremely valuable and largely unique qualities that go beyond simply checking like one or two mons in OU. if what you described were to be the case, then the likes of zama and garg would be much more controversial than they actually are

tinkaton is never switching in on garganacl or zamazenta + both have way more utility outside of checking like one or two mons

If I used the ugly gremlin, I would switch it in on Garganacl. Paralyzing something that’s supposed to absorb status is huge, potentially denying the fucker’s recovery, same thing with Gholdengo but it’s easier to check by virtue of being an offensive Pokemon. Iron Moth in particular is game over for Stinkaton, all of the notorious Encore users can also easily take advantage of its presence.

Sinistcha gets pissed on by Raging Neck and Dark types in the tier and know I would switch it into Zamazenta and just brainlessly click Strength Sap.

I should have worded that more clearly but Sinistcha’s target (in that post) is mostly Zamazenta by just brainlessly clicking Strength Sap while Tinkaton can status Garg whose role on a team is often to absorb status. Theoretically Sinistcha could actually work as a Garg counter (mostly Curse variants) with enough SpAtk investment allowing it to bully it with a combination of Strength Sap and Matcha Gotcha. It’s rising because it’s a slow bulky Calm Mind sweeper like Primarina and brainless Strength Sap shenanigans + people crying about Waterpon IIRC

My thoughts on rises to OU, and what I think should rise in a perfect world

Rises
-Tinkaton. It's rising, thank god. It's such a good utility mon and I'm so happy people on ladder are finally beginning to see the light.
-Sinistcha. Everyone knows this mon is the best spinblocker in OU, and everyone knows it's good. Hope it'll rise.
-Pecharunt. Upon thinking about it more, I understand. Pecharunt is honestly super underrated and I'm happy it's here.
-Garchomp. This mon isn't as talked about surprisingly, but it's genuinely quite good and has a few solid sets, especially in lead matchups. I can see this rising and I see its place in OU.
-Weavile. He was robbed of OU by fraudscarada (exaggeration) and he's still really solid. WEAV FOR OU!!
-Hydrapple. This won't rise, but it'd be good. Great breaker, great Tera user, solid on balance. This is my personal "should rise to OU" hot take.
-Scizor. Have you guys tried this mon? It's insane. Turns every single 30% mon into a dead mon in the endgame. Hard to fit, but great on offense. Scizor for OU.
-Toxapex. This doesn't deserve OU but I like it :3

yeah and then you'd take a salt cure as garganacl simply clicks protect and switches to gliscor or some other pokemon that walls tinkaton. i implore you to use clefable or a bulky pivot like slowking if you can't handle garganacl, tink cannot reliably switch into garg at all. iron moth is also not an immediate game over for tink structures unless you threw 5 fire-weak mons + alomomola in the builder and started laddering. even then iron moth is deathly afraid of thunder wave and takes a net 50% from rocks + gigaton hammer. i find that this argument also quickly starts to fall apart once you apply it to OU pokemon; for instance, would you consider alomomola to be a bad pokemon specifically because it thuds into ogerpon-wellspring?

Attack OHKOs Kyurem after a spike (not in snow). Overheat doesn’t kill Tusk btw.

Okay but fr tink is similar to clef rn. Clef has worse typing and stats in exchange for eating Knock and having recovery, and they're otherwise similar. They're both solid, though. I just personally prefer clef because I like bulky hazard stack.

To be fair Corv does NOTHING into tink. Twave is brutal, it can't defog or Idefense or roost because of encore, and it gets chipped away by gigaton.

Has anyone here tried Gigaton + Ice Hammer + Knock tink? Nukes Scor and Clef and bullies Corv. Not great but probably viable and funny!
