Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion v4

I suspect you’ll be wrong. The excitement will be pooled up to overflowing levels with this one. There are like five hundred thousand different directions it can go from an outsider POV right now, so don’t bother shopping around for different opinions and just wait for Thursday
Will this realistically have any effect on the meta game? Outside of offense being good.

this confirms that we are banning defense boosting moves.
"Has great potential to impact the metagame" Well obviously.
"not strictly focused on the metagame" because defense boosting moves are moves, not metagames, duh.
"Nothing to do with IRL events" do YOU know anyone that knows a defense-boosting move??? (if so, please contact an exorcist)
it's so obvious

My final guess is that Smogon will be implementing a new feature, which allows players to directly stream from Pokemon Showdown. This satisfies some content creators being hyped about the coming change and jives with the change having nothing to do with the meta but still having potential to impact the meta at large.

But this does raise an interesting point-when are we actually going to be getting the rest of the gen 9 models? I know Maushold is already in, but what about the rest?
I mostly agree with you but Wellspring having a currently permanent pensive emoji is like half the reason I love the mon

I swear if this is disappointing I will be so sad. Please let this be good. Please let it be so so cool

I genuinely thought you’d announce this the Friday 13th lol, then we may not be cooked :cheem-pao:
I suspect it has something to do with :
« five hundred thousand » - Finchinator
I hope the current hype isn’t an overreact then (I still think we’re cooked Thursday is the day Gliscor suspect ended so it’s bad :fukyu:)

What do y’all think about suspecting gambit :fino:
Can I get a lot of haha reacts please ?

What do y’all think about suspecting gambit
An endgame Kingambit capable of using Tera is one of the greatest atrocities of all time.
It's one of the few Pokémon in the tier that can run a decent variety of items, and beyond its raw power, the 50/50 Sucker Punch + the 50/50 x 4/5 viable Tera-types provides an exercise that requires more guesswork than skill or interaction between opponents.

I wouldn't mind a suspect of Kingambit myself. Leaving aside a potential Tera Blast suspect, Kingambit is probably the only mon aside from Kyurem that could get enough support for a suspect test. Although we would have to deal with a huge change in the meta after its ban given Kingambit's role in the meta. It would literally shake the foundations of the meta much like a Zamazenta (I believe the wolf is 100% fair and balanced) ban would.

Wow this diagram actually encompasses my feelings very well. I don't consider most of the bottom right to be 'broken' per say but very actively annoying due to a mix of Tera and general structures (Mola not as much tho), but everything else is spot on. Even if I've had to begrudgingly accept that Gambit exists, it still borders on deeply unpleasant to me.

kingambit has been that mon we all knew was absurd from day 1 but has always been viewed as just barely fine enough to stay. It would have a huge impact on the metagame, but I hardly see that as a bad thing.

there are too many turns of phrase in this post, my bar-puzzle brain is screaming that this has to be a hint
Overflowing pools. Shopping.

Smogon events where they temporarily unban something with no plans of it being permanent starting with the Iron bundle for the season and because no one will push for bundle to actually be Unbanned afterwards but it will give content creators something not stale to talk about. Not off the table from the not a test/retest comment because it's not intentional to actually unban after.

But. It only affects OU so that can't be it either.

And its not us shopping from our overflowing pools of money we make pump and dumping our showdown tied shitcoin. Idk. That would be sweet though.

I don't see that as a bad thing either. Kingambit is a stupidly cheap mon and has an unhealthy effect on the meta with its ridiculous power and priority from Supreme Overlord. Its ability basically makes the entire mon itself a side-grade to Last Respects and Rage Fist by giving Kingambit a boost to all its damaging attacks. If Tera didn't exist, Fighting-type Pokemon might have actually been able to beat it consistently, but it can just Tera out of its typing and check the Fighting-types it faces instead.
