Project SV OU - Victim of the Week (Week 70: Calm Mind Enamorus-I)

If Kommo-o Terastallizes and Taunts, Skeledirge can't touch it (or heal up) due to Kommo-o now being a Normal-type with Soundproof (i.e. immune to Torch Song and Hex). Kommo-o easily breaks Skeledirge by dealing over 8% damage a turn from there.

So with that...

I'll update the Hall of Fame today. For this week, we've got the bird of destruction, Galarian Moltres.

:sv/moltres-galar:
Moltres-Galar @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Berserk
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Tera Blast
- Agility

This bird brings darkness upon to the battlefield and onto your enemies' faces once they lose to it. With the combination of Nasty Plot and Agility easily tearing through unprepared teams, and with its decent bulk backed by Tera Fairy giving it that setup opportunity it needs alongside good coverage, it is a serious threat to almost anything in the metagame right now. How will you stop the Galarian cousin of Moltres?

Submissions end Saturday, May 3rd at 11:59 PM GMT-4.
You may submit up to 1 check and 1 counter.

Blissey is a counter. Its enormous special bulk allows it to switch in easily against Moltres, who needs to rack up a large amount of boosts to even 2HKO it. While Blissey doesn't do much in return, it can boost its Sp. Def with Calm Mind, making it harder for Moltres to simply brute-force its way through. If running Flamethrower, the Sp. Atk boosts may also allow it to outdamage Seismic Toss or even 2HKO if you manage to acquire enough boosts.

Moltres should've brought Hurricane with them. Because now Ogerpon has been given the opportunity to safely revenge kill it without the need of terastilization. Clicking Ivy Cudgel results in a 2HKO, as even with Berserk activated Fiery Wrath doesn't deal enough damage to KO Ogerpon, and Sitrus Berry just barely doesn't heal enough to have a tiny chance on a 3HKO instead. Or you could just Swords Dance + Ivy Cudgel to avoid Berserk from activating, as that results in a OHKO.

Ogerpon can counter Moltres if it terastilizes after switching in, as Moltres is unable to wear it down in time due to the Sp. Def increase. Still listing this as a check, as I usually don't want to rely on terastilization. If Ogerpon doesn't terastilize, Galarian Moltres can KO it in 2 turns by NP or Fiery Wrath on the switch in, and then using its Dark STAB (again).

Congrats on the double win, your sets will be added to our Hall of Fame! For our next week, we'll be dealing with a real Fairy-type; though added in Generation 8, this Pokemon only made its competitive debut in Scarlet & Violet. Although somewhat overshadowed by its Incarnate forme, this devastating setup sweeper has found a strong niche with its ability to quickly spiral out of control and overwhelm many of the tier's walls with both its offensive prowess and its massive bulk. What can deal with Calm Mind Enamorus-T?

:sv/Enamorus_Therian:

EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 8 SpA / 76 Spe
Tera Type: Ground

- Draining Kiss
- Earth Power
- Taunt / Mystical Fire
- Calm Mind

Titanic natural defenses combined with heavy investment in HP and Defense allow for Enamorus-T to be a monstrous threat, able to take on and even set up against a large chunk of the tier. This fact is exacerbated by Draining Kiss and Leftovers combining to keep its health topped-up, while a Modest nature means that it still deals massive damage off its base 135 Special Attack. Earth Power provides excellent coverage to target the Steel-, Poison-, and Fire-types that may attempt to take on its Fairy-type attacks, and Taunt allows it to beat specially defensive walls that try to answer it purely defensively or phase it out. Alternatively, Mystical Fire can be used to target some of the few switch-ins to Fairy-Ground coverage. Tera Ground is key for flipping Enamorus-T's matchup against Poison- and Rock-type attackers while also granting its Earth Power a much-appreciated boost. Does anything in the tier deal with our newest force of nature?

Boring but efficient. Swords Dance, then 2HKO (you read that right, this Enamorus-T is EVed to not get OHKOed by Ogerpon-W +2 Ivy Cudgel). Enamorus-T cannot KO back in time and definitely shouldn't go Tera Ground in front of Ogerpon-W. Ogerpon-W can attempt to switch in and beat this Enamorus-T once but can't really try that same trick twice, plus this Ogerpon-W doesn't appreciate switching into Taunt. If you want to cut out several middlemen and OHKO with +2 Ivy Cudgel, you can go Tera Water on Ogerpon-W.

Skeledirge is a check. It has to Tera to avoid the 2HKO from Tera Ground Earth Power, but outside of that the only other issue is Taunt. Unaware ignoring Calm Mind boosts allows Skeledirge to brute-force its way through with Torch Song without needing to worry about Enamorus' Sp. Defense boosts. Since Skeledirge is faster, it can also attempt to burn Enamorus with Will-O-Wisp before it can use Taunt, powering up Hex for a guaranteed 2HKO after hazard damage.

Thank you all for your submissions as always, voting is now open!
Note that this Mamoswine set is actually a check, as Tera Ground Earth Power can 2HKO it on the switch-in while Mamoswine isn't able to OHKO back! This even has a chance to KO Mamoswine after it goes for Tera Grass, with a total roll of 86.4 - 102.1%.
8+ SpA Tera Ground Enamorus-Therian Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mamoswine: 208-246 (57.6 - 68.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
8+ SpA Tera Ground Enamorus-Therian Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tera Grass Mamoswine: 104-123 (28.8 - 34%) -- 1.5% chance to 3HKO
I'll make one modification though if that's okay with you, Unmasked - adding either the Assault Vest or Choice Band with no other changes would make this a counter, as Mamoswine would either OHKO Enam-T or not get 2HKOed even without needing to Tera. I wouldn't usually do this, but as we only have one other submissions for counter this week I'd still like to see some competition!
