Project SV ZU Teambuilding Competition

:klawf: :sm/klawf: :klawf:
The big crab is probably the most interesting of December drops that didn't get quickbanned, with a wide arsenal of different sets: it can vary from defensive Regen sets on balance teams, to Swords Dance sets, to Choice items, and to Anger Shell stuff on HO.
Build a team featuring Klawf and post it in this thread with a brief description.
Deadline is Friday 8th at 10pm GMT+1.
Have fun!

first blood for this week with this squad here! i built the team with the offensive core of sd leafeon + np golduck in mind following the rotom-fan ban, but klawf snuck its way in as a defensive rocks setter with regen.
:leafeon::golduck::indeedee-f::klawf::volbeat::tinkatuff:
leafeon is such a crazy wallbreaker + cleaner thanks to its high base attack speed, a huge base 130 defense stat that allows it to tank physical hits and set up more easily, sd to further bolster its attack, synth to keep it healthy, and knock to force progress. tera fire is neat for resisting opposing fire-, ice-, and bug-type attacks, but more importantly for blocking will-o-wisp from something like misdreavus (especially a scarf variant). golduck is a great partner to bully leafeon's checks with np boosted attacks, with tera electric to resist super effective electric-type moves from something faster like dedenne, to give you super effective coverage vs opposing water-types, and to block thunder wave from walls like swalot and tinkatuff. indeedee rounds out the offensive core with a standard scarf set packing trick to neutralize checks like tinkatuff and healing wish support for her friends leafeon + golduck. tera ground tera blast is great coverage to similarly absorb thunder waves while also giving you super effective coverage for steel-types like hliggoo and tinkatuff. notice a pattern? the three work together to wear down and/or overwhelm tinkatuff.

in comes klawf, the first mon in the team's defensive backbone and this week's feature mon! klawf is a great defensive mon in the tier as a result of its access to knock off and the amazing ability in regen. it packs high base attack and defense and a respectable speed tier, even when uninvested or with minimal investment. this mon can tank hits easily and heal back the damage just by swapping into one of its teammates, as a good regen mon should do. defensive klawf should always be packing stealth rock and knock off, and i opt for rock slide over stone edge bc pp and accuracy, and high horsepower (crabpower?) is nice for--once again--hitting tinkatuff. im running tera ghost to blank fighting-type moves, but to also force something like squawkabilly to take recoil from brave bird. fairy and poison would work well here too i'd think, probably also steel. volbeat pairs well, resisting ground, fighting, and grass, and klawf resisting flying and fire. it's also just a great support mon with moves like thunder wave and encore and the prankster ability, but ive opted to go with taunt yay new toy and it finally got seismic toss back! these are also not found on its partner illumise, outclassing her pretty significantly, and even having a stronger u-turn too. lastly, i rounded out the team with spdef tinkatuff herself, who appreciates klawf running rocks to free up her slots for more support. thunder wave, knock, and encore are all standard, and then i pack play rought and 72 speed to bop max speed neutral nature cacturne, which otherwise can handle klawf + volbeat thanks to its grass/dark typing.

ended up writing way more than i intended, but thats pretty expected. crossing my fingers in hopes that more folks participate!

figured I’d toss a team in here for the first time.
https://pokepast.es/41a604d6e0f583c3
ended up making a team around prankster volbeat (read:tailwind)and the varying sweepers to benefit
klawf stands as a way to get rocks up and take out powerful pokemon who could kill other sweepers
hatterem keeps hazards off, dugtiro is there for damage and speed, and pincurchin keeps a lot of status up to further weaken the opponent
trevenant is probably the main threat, able to halt progress on set up mons with disable, outspeed problems with sucker punch, and live for longer than it should with the 75bp healing moves
all in all, a reasonably good team(hopefully)

Screenshot (806).png

I wanted to take advantage of some of the new mons so built around Webs Leavanny and Anger Shell Klawf. Webs + an Anger Shell Boost lets Klawf outspeed the vast majority of the metagame. I went with Tera Steel on it since it lets it resist the best priority moves in current meta Grassy Glide and Ice Shard. Missy is a powerful threat that also appreciates webs support, spinblocks, and plays well off of Klawf as well. Swalot is a defensive glue mon that acts as a check to the likes of Thwackey and Sneasel that can be threats for webs teams.

Sneasel is a busted mon that can break some holes for the Klawf sweep later. I liked Tera Fire over the typical Tera Ground since it lets you resists the aforementioned priority moves while still taking care of Tink. Most teams generally dont have a solid answer for physical fire types either and Sneasel deals with many of the common ones like Gabite. Specs Indeedee rounds the team out with a powerful special breaker and I gave it healing wish to heal up Klawf for a second sweep attempt if needed. Psychic Terrain preventing priority can be key as well. Hope you all enjoy the team.

Sorta generic offense, not gonna be as in depth as I usually am w/ these competitions but wanted to toss something into the ring~

Klawf is fast and offensive, putting out excellent damage with the combination of Swords Dance and a powerful EdgeQuake combination with High Horsepower, plus Knock Off to round out the set and Regenerator to provide additional longevity.
Tinkatuff is super standard SpDef Tinkatuff, one of the most standard sets around by this point!
Trevenant is another excellent, strong ghost; this time with the ever powerful STAB boosted Wood Hammer. Poltergeist does have the drawback of needing items on enemy mons, meaning you often have to limit Knock Off on your team, but I feel that most mons hit by Klawf's Knock Off either aren't typically Trevenant's targets or are immune to its Poltergeist anyway. Lots of fourths work well on this set, but I like having Drain Punch as a tool to gain back HP - Horn Leech, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw, and Trick probably work well to varying degrees as well.
Scovillain is a great special attacker, and I'm a huge fan of its Subseed two attacks set. Does an excellent job of being a nuisance while outspeeding the plethora of defensive Klawf. It also helps that it beats the Grass-types that often absorb its Leech Seed.
Lumineon's basically an old reliable at this point; fast Encore, fast pivoting, a decently powerful Hydro Pump, and your coverage choice between Dazzling Gleam, Ice Beam, and Tera Blast. Pretty self explanatory set as usual.
Indeedee-F finally has a concrete check in Tinkatuff and can struggle to break in early and midgame scenarios, but is an absolute monster endgame once these checks have been sufficiently broken down. Tera Blast Fire lets it circumvent Tinkatuff and makes life more difficult for Thwackey, while also weakening Sucker Punch should its terrain run out or get replaced.

:arbok: :sm/arbok: :arbok:
Arbok is the worst mon in the tier a recent addition to the ZU tier, come to us with December shifts, that despite its below-average stats quickly became one of ladder's favourite mons due to its unique tools like Coil, Loaded Dice + Scale Shot, and 2 great abilities in Intimidate and Shed Skin.
Build a team featuring Arbok and post it in this thread with a brief description.
Deadline is Friday 15th at 10pm GMT+1.
Have fun!

first blood again! coilbok is overrated, enjoy a defensive dual status version instead a la uberskitty!
:furret::arbok::chimecho::tinkatuff::golduck::misdreavus:
:furret:
i initially built this squad around sd greedent to try and revive it in the current meta, but wanted to also try it out with furret, hence the name on the paste. furret's standard here, using tidy up to clear hazards or clean up lategame with tera fairy to resist any sucker punches once you get boosted.

:furret::arbok:
as mentioned above, arbok is here to spread status through glare and poison fang and then rest off any damage and wake up with shed skin. i opted for eq over knock here but still kept the tera dark to blank an indeedee hoping to ko me. i bet tera ghost would be good here as well. enough speed for adamant max speed trev, which also mean youre faster than neutral nature max speed cacturne.

:furret::arbok::chimecho:
next up is chimecho to resist the ground- and psychic-type attacks for arbok, as well as fighting for furret. heal bell is so clutch, as is instant recovery. tera steel is fantastic on levitate mons, and i find myself almost exclusively terastallizing this to blanket check mons like gabite, dugtrio, klawf, and even opposing arbok, especially scale shot variants. running knock here just because you have so many opportunities to click it in a match, but you could go knock > eq on arbok and then dgleam > knock here on chime, or just have 3 knock users, thats not a big deal.

:furret::arbok::chimecho::tinkatuff:
tink here is a great catch-all, answering indeedee, glaceon, leafeon, flapple, sneasel, etc. and supporting the team with rocks, twave, and encore. you can also slot knock here if you wanted! but i opted for play rough and enough speed to bop cacturne, which could be an issue otherwise. you could certainly go rest over encore because of heal bell support from chime, but i think the set is fine as is. tera dragon on spdef mons is great for resisting electric, fire, grass, and water, and for helping to answer sun teams.

:furret::arbok::chimecho::tinkatuff::golduck:
needed speed control, so i slotted on golduck. works well with furret to form a flipturn core and appreciates arbok and tink checking cacturne, allowing you to spam water moves more easily throughout a match. chose hydro pump just for the added power, ice beam is standard, and bringing back tera eletric tera blast from my submission last week to once again hit opposing waters, resist electric, and stop thunder wave attempts.

:furret::arbok::chimecho::tinkatuff::golduck::misdreavus:
rounded out the team with np hex missy, who synergizes so well with arbok and tink spreading status, and can also inflict her own with will-o. pretty standard otherwise!

my first post here:)
I think wooper was cooking with the toxic/glare idea and decided to add to it.

arbok is here to set up toxic spikes and generally slow down the opposing team, as well as give some offense

rabsca is the typical rev blessing mon, with solid special offense

furret makes rid of entry hazards and can be a potent late game sweeper

magcargo is a surprisingly good shell smash sweeper (game freak please give it stored power lol), tera grass gives you pretty good longevity

misdreavus hex go brrrr, will-o-wisp can also be used as a backup

wugtrio is a simple offensive set, gotta have some physical offense

imma be honest, i don´t know how good this is, buuuuuut here it is

https://pokepast.es/a2e050a1c638d456
:fraxure: :arbok: :grumpig: :glaceon: :quaxwell: :persian:

Basically, Persian has a set which can lower the enemies stats (and do some alright damage) then u-turn out into 1 of your 4 set-up sweepers. Fraxure is a fast physical attacker, Arbok is a Bulky physical attacker, Grumpig is a fast special sweeper and glaceon is a nuclear weapon (with calm mind is base 130 Sp.A isn't enough for you). The duck is here to spin away any hazards (primarily webs) and flip-turn into one of the sweepers afterwards.
Teambuilding is my passion.

Also the team has unoriginal nicknames for bonus points (hopefully).

BALANCE ARBOK BUILD
:ludicolo: :Tinkatuff: :Volbeat: :Indeedee-F::Sneasel: :Arbok:
Threw in a balance build and used three offensive Pokes, two walls, and a tank. Ludicolo was Assault Vest and put in enough Speed to outspeed Adamant Trevenant. Tinkatuff was standard utility, and has gained more utility in bypassing Hattrem's Magic Bounce. Volbeat was good setup deterrent, Thunder Wave spreader, and pivot at the same time. Indeedee was Specs once more in order to generate as much wallbreaking prowess as possible, and had Tera Ground to provide a Thunder Wave immunity and a hit on Tinkatuff. Sneasel was standard SD + 3 Attacks as a wincon and Speed control at the same time. I used tera dark to further empower Knock Off. Arbok was Tera Dark to blank INdeedee's Psychic, empower Knock Off, and was Coil + 3 Attacks as a secondary wincon. I employed Boots to give it better longevity against hazards.

:leavanny: :klawf: :misdreavus: :arbok: :cacturne: :golduck:
Went ahead and built a little Webs team with :leavanny: because I hadn't used it before in ZU. Tera Ghost on the off-chance I need to deal with Spin immediately, but this thing prolly isn't gonna Tera. Next, I added PhysDef :misdreavus: with Tbolt to stave off :quaxwell: and keep up the webs. Fairy is a good defensive Tera here, although clicking it when the opponent still has :quaxwell: is a risk. Added Band :klawf: because that sounded like a good offensive mon with Webs up, especially with Anger Shell. Gave it enough speed to get the jump on slower :misdreavus: to maybe get a KO with Knock Off. Tera Water was chosen in order to boost Crabhammer's power a bit. Went for :arbok: next, the Coil variant appreciates being able to outrun more things with Webs up. I also added Sucker Punch to help against faster mons like Scarfers or Boots users. Tera Dark helps defend against :indeedee-f:. Shed Skin is the ability of choice since it means :arbok: can afford to get burned and not have it end it's usefulness. At this point, the team's feeling a little physical-forward, so I added :cacturne:, who also doubles as a way to get up Spikes seeing as I'm forfeiting Rocks on my :klawf:. This runs Sucker for pretty much the same reason as :arbok:. Tera Poison helps to cover :cacturne:'s weaknesses very nicely. Both :arbok: and :cacturne: have HDB because I didn't like the hazard chip the two of them tended to incur, especially :arbok:. Ended the team with the Ice resistant :golduck:, seeing as Ice moves can be a problem for my other 5. Gave it a Scarf set in case something goes wrong and I don't have the webs up for an added bit of speed control. Tera Grass boosts Grass Knot and helps against Electrics.

:arbok: :tinkatuff: :Leafeon: :Quaxwell: :Rabsca: :Glaceon:

Coil-Shot Arbok Balance
:rb/Arbok:
Coil shot with tera ground to push through klawf/tink etc even if u dont get to have coil up and are thus obvio weak

:sv/tinkatuff:
Standard sr set

:bw/Leafeon:
SD set with tera fire to bop tink and act as secondary setup sweeper cum natural speed control.

:sv/Quaxwell:
The teen dancer bird is a decent spinner and this particular set has been consistent for me in various teams.

:sv/rabsca:
Bugs a good special wall, answering arbok's greatest nemesis Indeedee. Its particularly more imp as my arbok doesnt have tera dark.
Revival Blessing can particularly be a clutch, reviving one of the breakers/sweepers of the team.

:bw/glaceon:
I needed a strong special attacker alongwith some more speed control. I decided to go with a non orthodox scarf glaceon which pulls off good damages cuz of that massive base stat while pulling a surprise factor and outspeeding the entire neutral speed tier (not counting eiscue noice).
