Team Building Process:
I knew immediately I wanted to start my team with Uxie lead. I wanted to try it out, since it's been becoming more popular as of late. I decided to use TrickScarf Uxie lead, because it is able to beat many common leads and give them a Scarf for the rest of the match.
I knew I wanted Skarmory as a Spiker. I use Skarmory as a Spiker on alot of teams, and this was simply the right choice for the perfect Semistall team.
I needed to use a spin blocker, as most teams do, and this was a perfect fit. Rotom-C is a great, bulky spinblocker that really helps my team, especially with that STAB Thunderbolt.
I added Vaporeon as a Wisher. I figured it would be a great addition to my team, mainly with being a great Fire resist.
I added Lucario to help give more physical power to my team, because I thought it would be a good fit.
I added Tyranitar to help deal with special sweepers that it can trap such as Gengar and Starmie, which give problems to my team.
After lots of battles, I noticed how weak my team was to WishCM Jirachi. It practically went through my whole team, so I needed to make a change or two, and I did. I took out my Wish support to add a Heatran to handle with Jirachi, and I also replaced Lucario with Gyarados to add another Ground immune and Fighting resist.
The Closer Look:
Uxie @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/104 Def/152 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Trick
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
---
Uxie is a very underrated lead. Personally, I think it should be OU, with it's high stats, pretty nice movepool and overall bulk and ability to support. TrickScarf Uxie lead is able to pass a Scarf onto many leads such as Swampert, Metagross, Azelf, and Mamoswine and force them to only be able to set up Rocks before having to switch out. Then, I can set up Rocks of my own and play my way around whatever comes in. U-Turn allows me to scout once I have gotten rocks up, and Thunder Wave allows me to cripple anything that i might need crippled such as Gengar or Heatran.
Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind
---
Skarmory is a very standard but amazing phazer and Spiker. Having access to both Spikes and Whirlwind makes it very versatile in the Overused metagame. Brave Bird allows me to hit pokemon such as Machamp pretty hard, and is an overall good STAB move to have. Spikes is the whole basis of Semistall, and with Whirlwind, allows me to phaze around while the opponent's pokemon constantly take Spikes and Stealth Rock damage. Roost is needed to recover Skarmory's health at critical times.
Rotom-c @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/12 Def/244 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Will-o-wisp
- Substitute
---
Rotom-C is a great spinblocker, mainly with its pretty nice speed and general bulk. I run 244 speed to outspeed Timid Offensive Suicunes and hit them with a strong Thunderbolt before they try to set up. Shadow Ball is the other STAB move that hits other pokemon that Thunderbolt doesn't hit such as Breloom. Will-o-Wisp, combined with Substitute, makes a great combo for beating Scizor and Tyranitar. I can Substitute on their switch, and Will-o-Wisp to prevent them from being a huge threat to my team.
Heatran (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Explosion
---
Life Orb Heatran makes for a great Sweeper for this team. A strong, Life Orbed STAB Fire Blast hits alot of things very, very hard. Earth Power allows me to hit pokes that resist Fire Blast such as Tyranitar or Heatran itself. Hidden Power Grass will hit those Swamperts with a guaranteed OHKO, and Explosion allows me to hit Blissey and Gyarados nicely.
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/72 Atk/96 Def/184 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
---
BulkyGyara is a really amazing support and sweeper sometimes. With Taunt, Gyarados can prevent being paralyzed or poisoned from pokes such as Blissey and Celebi. It is also able to set up on Blissey with Dragon Dance. Waterfall is the absolute needed STAB move and hits anything hard, even Rotoms that switch in take a good chunk from Waterfall before I'm forced to switch out. Stone Edge also allows me to hit pokemon like Dragonite, Gyarados, and Zapdos harder and lets me at least be able to touch Vaporeon.
Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
---
Scarf Tyranitar is pretty common nowadays, and for pretty good reason: Trapping. With Pursuit, it is able to trap special sweepers locked onto a certain move, such as a Rotom locked onto Thunderbolt or Shadow Ball, and Pursuit to get rid of them. Pursuit can also kill staying in Gengar. Crunch is another STAB move that hits pokemon that don't resist dark even harder than Pursuit such as Flygon. Stone Edge is the final STAB, and hits flying types such as Dragonite and Gyarados much harder. Superpower is the final move, being able to hit Blissey and Snorlax and even Heatran with a powerful move to hopefully kill them.
So yeah, that's my team, I'm open to any criticism, and yeah, that's about it.
