Glasgow Rangers - Manchester United 2-4
Valencia CF - Bursaspor 5-0

Damn, Benfica was humilliated in Tel Aviv and is out of the Champions League. Sapientia got his wish and Schalke may even win the group.

I didn't cry about the ban, it was deserved. What can make me cry is 6 matches in a row a terrible match, especially the 0-3 of Ronaldo yesterday, terrible defended by the overrated Urby Emanuelson and Gregory van der Wiel, this goal showed the lack of effort, almost no effort barring Suárez. It hurts to see Ajax going from #1 to #4. And to see hooligans treathening Martin Jol by death on their banners. Those players didn't do their best with other coaches, so replacing topcoach Martin Jol will even make things worse.

No top 2 spot for Ajax this year and no CL.

I know about Suárez. Half deserved: a long suspension and deserved, but a worse/harder bite in 2007 (Sebastian Sansoni, Vitesse back then) was 5 matches, so 7 is too much. But at the other side, still deserved. He won't play until 4 February 2011 except for AC Milan (away, CL, 8 December 2-1-).

Suárez went to a psychiatrist Monday, that was his own idea, and that was really needed if you do such a ridiculous thing.

And Mounir El Hamdaoui, Nicolás Lodeiro and Mido injured. What now? Who should be striker?

Ajax has a lot of trouble. Some players won't work for their money and now a list of suspensions (both fair and unfair ones) and a hospital of injuries.

- Defensive midfielder/central defender Rasmus Lindgren, undeserved red card and 2 match ban. Yellow would've been too much.

- Right winger/left winger/shadow striker/attacking midfielder Luis Suárez is suspended for 6 Eredivisie matches and 1 cup match, a 7 match ban for biting PSV player Otman Bakkal, who was asking for it for a horror tackle and stomping on Suárez' left foot. But even then biting goes too far.

- Central striker Mido has a small injury, he'll back in a week.

- Central striker Mounir El Hamdaoui has a small injury, he'll be back in a week.

- All-around midfielder/attacker Nicolás Lodeiro is injured and will be back at the end of December.

- Left back Timothée Atouba is not match fit after being injured for more than a year.

- Right winger Florian Jozefzoon is injured and will be back in January 2011.

- Reserve goalie Kenneth Vermeer has a big injury and will return in April 2011.

- Midfielders Demy de Zeeuw and Teemu Tainio are fit at this moment, but they are injury prone and they can't play 2 times 90 minutes in a week.

And now? What on Sunday?

benfica can at least complain about that unallowed goal, which wasnt offside

we were already dominating, we would've tied the game and eventually won

also can someone please explain to me the logic behind the ref calling foul inside the box, and instead of giving a penalty for benfica, he had them REPEAT the corner kick

even the commentators laughed and said it was a penalty

i watched the higlights, played fantastic, rooney being there helped a bit, he didnt score but helped in a fair few of the goals

I heard this joke today, and even though world cup has come to pass, i think football fans would still appreciate it:

A Portuguese football show is discussing Messi and Maradona (coach of argentina) , theyre debating:
a)which one is/was a better footballer
b)whether or not messi is a god send to the Argentinian football squad.

So the hosts discuss it for a while and they cant decide who is better, so they decide to take calls from the audience. Listeners call in and some say Messi is better, and others say Maradona was better in his day.

the hosts eventually decide that the only way to settle this is to call up Maradona and ask him what he thinks about Messi.

So they call him up and they ask him, "Do you think Messi is a God-send to your international squad?"

Diego Maradona answers, "What are you talking about? I didnt send anyone."

FT Newcastle U. 1 - 1 Chelsea

unsurprising given the fact that chelsea has been absolutely ass lately, i'm happy for lee

FT Tottenham H. 2 - 1 Liverpool

tottenham is one of the teams i like in england as opposed to liverpool so i'm ok with this

FT Inter Milan 5 - 2 Parma

i'm actually surprised inter won, without eto'o, and by a difference of 3, not a single striker scored for inter and crespo scored 2 for parma, which is cool i guess

FT Werder Bremen 3 - 0 St. Pauli

hugo almeida hattrick, then red. uhh

I am also happyfor lee! On the way to the match my prediction was 3-1 Chelsea whereas my mate bet 1-0 Toon. So we were understandably on edge when we went 1-0 up after 5 mins. I also bought two tickets for a sweepstake on who would score Newcastle's first goal but got Danny Simpson and Jose Enrique. Was gutted :( I think 1-1 was a fair result - Chelsea had a lot of possession but we defended well and produced a few chances of our own. Tiote was my man of the match - he controlled the midfield and was a real battler. Yup, happy happy happy! still a bit drunk bit I think you can forgive me after taking a point from the champions. It's also good to see man utd on top again. This season is truly fascinating.

MATCH REPORT

Ajax started with two former Tottenham players. Teemu Tainio (played well, but got replaced at halftime because a 4-2-3-1 system with wingers was needed). Mounir El Hamdaoui played a bad game but gave the assist for Miralem Sulejmanis 0-2. Supersub Ahmed Mido Hossam came on as a substitute and scored a good goal.

ManUtd-target Siem de Jong sat on the bench for the whole game, he was punished for showing no effort on the training. The other ManUtd target Gregory van der Wiel put in an awful performance.

Ajax missed winger Luis Suárez, he's suspended.

In the first half, Ajax played awful and there was one reason why VVV hasn't taken a lead yet: Ajax-goalie Maarten Stekelenburg.

After halftime, Teemu Tainio was substituted by left winger Aras Ozbiliz, who made his debute. Also, Christian Eriksen was replaced by supersub Mido. Then, Ajax played 4-2-3-1, Emanuelson and Enoh were holding midfielders, Ozbiliz played on the left wing, El Hamdaoui as attacking midfielder, Sulejmani became right winger and Mido was the central striker.

The change paid off, Mido scored after a corner. Shortly after that, Sulejmani finished a combination of him and Mounir El Hamdaoui. It was deserved, Ajax was the better team in the second half. But Maarten Stekelenburg still had to make some awesome saves.

Mounir El Hamdaoui gave an elbow and escaped with a yellow card. He was lucky to not get red.

Martin Jol saved his job, and Ajax won after 6 horrible matches in a row.

Great to see someone else following the Portuguese League!

Yeah, I'm waiting to see what Barcelona and Real Madrid can do tomorrow. I'm waiting for a great game.

2-2 Villa
2-3 Higuain
2-4 Di Maria

I want Barcelona to win even with Real having four Portuguese players. Barça plays the best football in the World and, together with Arsenal, is the team I like to watch the most so go Barça!
