and whats the point you are making? i wasnt the one calling a player bad because they were plucked from the lower leagues in the first place, i was saying birmingham have players who have moved up from league 2 and won that cup. and blackpool have a player that has scored for them in ALL FOUR DEVISIONS no that does take some doing.
smalling has been good, i wasn't sure when i saw him at fulham though tbh i couldnt see why.

I would argue that league 2 is a significantly higher standard then the French League 2,especially in the qualities Arsenal lack or have been accused of lacking(strength, heart) and with respect to teams like Blackpool,Birmingham they arn't competing with the likes of Barcelona,United,Madrid etc.
Add to that why was Koscielny a stick thin, weak defender brought in when Arsenal struggle most with big centre foward types(Zigic today just one example). I know Wenger is notoriously cheap but the amount of money we have lost by going out of the Champions league early or cups early, due to defensive mistakes could have easily covered a world class defender.

Birmingham are not a shit team and playing in lower leagues doesn't make you a shit player.
But you don't take a player from a league of a lower standard in a foreign country and throw him into your first team and expect him to play every game, which is the difference between names like Bebe who isn't starting every game or Smalling who has experience at another premier league side and has worked his way into the side, when you haven't won a trophy in 6 years(and are expected to), are competing with the best teams in the world and you have the resources to spend on at least a defender with proven experience in the same league.
Ferguson doesn't do it,Chelsea doesn't do it,the big spanish/italian teams doesn't do it, i don't really get why Wenger insists on doing it then wonders why Arsenal have underachieved for the last 6 years.

birmingham are kind of a shit team imo - i find their football to be (carling cup final excepted) negative and boring to watch. now i'm not saying playing attractive football automatically makes you a 'good' team, but it does go a long way to helping. like in the same way i don't think Allardyce's Blackburn or Pulis's Stoke will ever be 'good' teams, despite their relative success - football should be nice to watch. i think.

stoke are interesting, but how they do so well i dunno.

i'm not sure about that really - granted i'm horribly biased but i'd much rather have the Swans playing the pretty pretty football they do (the Swansea-Leeds game from last weekend is actually worth watching from a neutral standpoint, i think) and struggling to make the play-off places in the Championship than middling in the Prem and doing a Stoke..

Ajax got an undeserved draw. Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax goalie) played perfect and the rest sucked (except for Eriksen of course). PSV deserved to win, and PSV did play horrible too, but Ajax was worse. Eyong Enoh and Demy de Zeeuw should die this instant to the most horrible death they can suffer. PSV midfielder Ola Toivonen gave "a Rooney" (elbow) in Jan Vertonghens face.

Still don't understand why there are Welsh teams in the English Leagues when there is a Welsh League, I think they should just stick to one or the other.
To be honest I think teams should just play to their strengths and try to do as well as they can, as Stoke do. Teams like Blackpool and Wolves may be the most entertaining in the league, but they're sadly both relegation candidates, and I think that both of them will be out of the premier league by the end of next season (blackpool had a good enough first few months to stay up imo).

I don't understand why Berwick play in the Scottish league when there is an English league. It is the same point.
Cardiff and Swansea deserve to play in the English leagues, and both of them have a decent shot for making the EPL next season (come on Cardiff!). And whats more, they both existed before the Welsh League did, as the competition started in 1992, and Cardiff were founded in 1899.

Absolutely spot on though - Newport, too, I think (and maybe one day Wrexham who knows). But Cardiff and Swansea are good enough to play in the English leagues - if they were to be put in the Welsh league they'd shit over absolutely everyone then go out of business.
Incidentally, if a Welsh club does go into administration I believe they're taken out of the English leagues and put forever in the Welsh leagues. Which isn't fair.
One last - Welsh teams suffer from being in the English league on occasion (see: having to get international clearance for loans from English teams, the Welsh FA meting out different punishments than the English FA for the same offence) so to suggest that they should 'stick to one or the other' when actually they're in a fairly difficult position is unfair
I don't see why people have a problem with welsh teams being in english league, they have been in english league for such a long time it shouldn't be an issue. However, it would be much appreciated if Cardiff and Swansea could start losing so Norwich can get the promotion slot.
