I think they'd benefit vastly from that sort of treatment - given the quality of the players they had at their disposal last season (Craig fucking Bellamy, anyone?) they really should have gone up auto, they just folded at the end of the season - the match they threw it all away during a run of terrible form at the close season the players had actually been out drinking the night before. It was an absolute mess. Now Chopra and Bothroyd are leaving and they're all depressed as fuck. They couldn't dream of better than Hughton - it'll be hard enough for them to find anyone much better than Jones with the way things have fallen apart

Villa are apparantly talking to roberto martinez to be the next boss, not too sure about that but eh

arsenal get carl jenkinson, yay another 17 year old, hope hes not squilaci junior

phil jones is apparantly close to a man u move, henderson to liverpool for ngog seriously? they cant be that desperate for strikers that they have to turn to ngog can they, i mean theres probably some championship strikers that are better than ngog

steve bruce has bid 12 mil for o'shea, wes brown, and darron gibson, as sunderland continues its policy of picking up man u scrap

that says a lot about their ambition. they were aiming for a top 6 finish, were getting there, ended up getting into the relegation fight, somehow survived, sold their brightest young star and now this... lol brown, gibson...

but tbf, o'shea is a decent player. he can play in central midfield, and can fill in anywhere across the back-four. If you have him on your bench, it's like having 5 extra players. but somehow man utd fans complain about him... ignorant twats

also i doubt martinez will go to villa - he has personal ties to Wigan.

in other news Pratley has left :/ our preparation for our first season in the prem isn't going very well at all

steve bruce... that fat head. i wish i could get the chance to punch him in the face. no chance to miss!

On a more serious subject, I think the King is going to play Henderson on the right of midfield slightly out wide. I imagine he would use a similar formation to his last title winning one. henderson would play out wide to deliver decent crosses into the box for Carroll to head in and there's always Suarez (and a new inside forward that is expected to be signed like Juan Mata or Young) to pick up the pieces. Henderson would also cut in and suarez (who would roam between the attack and midfield) would drift to the right wing to cover wide positions so technically we would still have 3 CMs to avoid getting outnumbered there. i expect dynamic and total football at its finest next season.

I think what kenny wants is something similar to the goal machine that is Carroll + barton except it's going to be carroll + Henderson. Henderson and barton are very similar but while barton is a good player (and a scouser), he's the finished article. Henderson is NOT the finished article, he'll improve even more under the king and would be more effective than barton (even though he's a good bloke)

btw, LOL @ Fergie trying to steal our targets. Blackburn's phil Jones is expected to sign a contract to go to man utd for £16m and they criticize us for overpaying on young english talent. now he has smalling and jones, two huge prospects sitting on the bench watching that duck-lipped creature that is ferdinand and vidic playing.
BRAVO Ferguson on somehow finding a way of stalling their development.

EDIT: this is going a bit too far though. we've signed a 14 year old :P
jerome sinclair from WBA

@JimBoardman @paul_tomkins Liverpool have signed a kid called Jerome Sinclair from WBA. Went to my school and is an excellent prospect.

Martinez has rejected Villa - why the fuck didn't he show us that loyalty in 2009? I'm actually getting quite angry about the whole thing.. every time I see some fuckwit comment on his loyalty and what a gentleman he is - HI YEAH HE SAID HE'D HAVE TO BE FORCED OUT THEN LEFT OUT OF THE BLUE THEN RAIDED THE SQUAD FOR THE BEST PLAYERS HE IS NOT A NICE MAN.
The Villa candidacy is a joke - so far we've had Ancelotti (lol), McClaren, Hughes, Benitez, Coyle, Moyes, Martinez...

top man martinez. ive always respected the guy. he said that he owed david whelan for believing in him. in reality, i think its a pretty smart move because villa fans have very high expectations and they're losing all their best players (except bent) so it would be a pretty hard job. martinez is a friend of rafas and i would welcome him with open arms in the future (not the only one too).

i edited my post - but what about what he did to us? Swore he'd have to be 'forced out', left a week later, took all his backroom staff then raided the squad of our best players (after specifically promising not to do that, either).

The man is a cunt, the adulation he's getting now because he knows he'd get Villa relegated is pathetic.

lol i know, fabregas is going to barca, nasri to utd (hope that doesnt happen) and we apparently made a £5m bid for clichy (hope we dont get him though, hes average at best)

@ akuchi: i didnt even know he used to be at swansea. from what ive seen in the last 2 seasons, he seems like a very good motivator (see 3-2 against west ham) and his teams play attacking football. he's the reason why i like wigan too (the zog and rodallega are cool also)

True, if I wasn't such a bitter bastard about the Swans thing he'd be one of my favourite managers - other than that I can't really fault him. But that is a biggie and people should stop praising him for not doing something he's already done!

congrats lee

newcastle signed french international yohan cabaye from lille (won the double). probably better than barton and nolan combined technically. but maybe im exaggerating.

Cabaye is a great player him and Tiote will work well together . One of the main reasons Lille did so well this year.

Barca have been linked with Jose Enrique before, but then again they have been linked with a lot of left backs over the last two years who they didn't end up getting, and i am not sure they will have that much to spend as there probably gonna end up signing at least one of Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, Rossi and maybe even Aguero, all will cost at least 25m.

Its a bad move if he wants to play regular football, he will end up on the bench like the rest of the great players Barca/Madrid are buying to make sure no one can compete, they wouldn't play him over Abidal and he would be competing with Adriano for the 2nd left back spot. Puyol also plays left back on occasion.

Clichy has been poor for probably two seasons now, gibbs is probably just as good but injury prone. It wouldn't be a problem him leaving at this point if Wenger spent the money well and Arsenal could get an easy 10m+ for him. There are plenty of left backs around better then Clichy has been for a while.

If Nasri leaves that will be the biggest problem for Arsenal as Fabregas will be at Barca sooner or later just depends if its this season or next.

liverpool bid £5m for him

would you take that? he has one year left on his contract and hes been poor for two seasons

as for barca, out of aguero, sanchez and g. rossi, i doubt hey would get all three, max. two. i expect them to be rossi and sanchez though. aguero has a £40m release clause :o

Ugh nasri joining Man U, Im gonna be pissed if that happens.

Cant exactly say I would be sorry to see Clichy go, other than sentimental reasons (last invincible left) then again Wenger will probably promote Gibbs or whoever, either that or he raids the French second division or something. The more I think of that possibility, the more I would prefer Clichy hangs around, average as he is. He needs to get Birmingham 2008 out of his system though, never looked the same after that ugh. Such a shame Gibbs looked horrible this season, I liked the kid.

Also, lol at the chicken farmers. Now they're trying to get out of the buy out clause? They freakin agreed to it themselves when they gave Jones the new contract in March.

not a good start to the window for arsenal

resigning by email, signing marlon king, playing shit football - the man is absolutely classless. fuck villa, i hope they go down

So on multiple sports news sites and on united's official site today, they announced the signing of England U-21 Centre Back Phil Jones from Blackburn . I didn't see the fee though . Will this be a good buy in your opinions?

No, I can't see the reasoning behind it. Man Utd already has two of the best centre-backs in the world in Vidic and Rio and they also already have the 'promising young English centre-back' thing going on with Smalling. What role is Jones gonna play? Is he gonna push Smalling into the reserves? Or will he find himself there? Either way, some young talent is gonna lose out on opportunities. Hopefully Smalling or Jones will get a loan deal to get some playtime in.

ps. sky sports say the fee was 16.5 million.

aye, maybe in about 5 years if they carry on developing at their current rate. But they're probably not going to now, are they? they need to gain experience and it's gonna be tough to do that being 3rd and 4th in the pecking order at Old Trafford. I suppose it's nice to have cover for the injury-prone Rio but I can't help but feel this is wasteful in more ways than one.
