It's been a little less than a year since last year's began, so I think I'm going to take the responsibility this year for it.
Last year's winner, for those who were here, was Pink Floyd who beat out the surprising upsets appearing at #2 and #3 (Godspeed You! Black Emperor and The Flaming Lips, respectively). Along with Rush as the first tournament's winner, it seems the key to winning is playing progressive rock and playing that progressive rock in the 70s, but as shown last year, it was pretty close!
For those of you who may not know what this is, we basically take around 100-120 bands and start them all off with a score of twenty (20). Users then vote on who they like the most by giving them points (only two + points total per post) and voting down the ones they don't like by taking away points (4 - points per post).
I'm probably going to get someone to help me--DM more than likely.
So in this thread you nominate bands. You can only nominate 2 bands per 24 hours. HOWEVER, unlike the past two years I'm going to change the nominating system a tad. Each band you nominate must have released at least THREE (3) full studio albums. This is to prevent the entry of new bands that have only released maybe one or two albums--even if they're good, they're not really established enough to be a contender for this. Hopefully it'll reduce a lot of clutter and leave us with generally known bands.
For example: I really really like the group Blackfield. But they've only released 2 albums. Thus, they're not eligible to be in the tournament.
Multiple people can nominate the same band, it might help a band get in the tournament if it's crunch time, but in the end I (and probably whoever helps me) will make the final decision. I feel like, since I have a really broad taste in music (much of which does not lie in common with a lot of the board, it seems sometimes), and I can promise that I'll be as fair as possible--just because I think Dream Theater sucks ass doesn't mean I'm not going to let them in or something. The reason for this is to try and prevent bands that only one or two people have heard of from entering the tournament, so as before, we're left with quality bands/performers that are at least known by more than just the uber indies out there.
Nominate away.
