Nom nom nom *Eats words*Deccan Chargers aaalllll the way! Yeewww!! haha
I'd be more worried about Brett Lee possibly heading back into the test squad. He's had a good 20/20 series and appears almost 100% to me. Him and Johnson. The woeful batting is always the problem with NZ though, the bowling is usually fairly consistent. And I do suppose their bowling has taken a drop, I mean Hauritz is their main spinner and he's nothing overly special. I think that Hilfenhaus will be the bane of our batting if he plays and if there's some hint of movement, especially after watching what he did in the Ashes. Not decimating by any means, but good enough to rile our solidly average batting lineup.
Do remember though, Sri Lanka are good players of spin, so that's nothing to judge him off.
Well considering probably half of our runs come from around 4-8 usually, it's a problem we've been faced with since the departure of Astle and Fleming.
Our batsmen need to be able to score hundreds (other than Vettori). >:
To be honest, I've found both Johnson and Lee to be highly overrated. I don't like watching either of them bowl, and they're both quite inconsistent (yes, I'm a NZer saying that, give me a break >_<).I'd be more worried about Brett Lee possibly heading back into the test squad. He's had a good 20/20 series and appears almost 100% to me. Him and Johnson.
That was hilarious. And we're not the best players of spin either, so a mediocre spinner like Hauritz would have fun against us.Yeah the NZ team over the last couple of years have been destroyed by a string of left handed bowlers, continuing into the sl series where they really failed miserably against Thushara.
Very true. Although our pitches tend to be a tad green, so the spinners could have a bit of success there. Or is that just AMI stadium.[edit] - Ok it's hard to succeed as a spinner against good players of spin, but when you are a specialist bowler and in the subcontinent you have to back yourself against them. The Pakistanis and a lot of the Australians are good players of spin as well, and the conditions in NZ shouldnt be nearly as useful..
Completely agree about Johnson. He's hitting his prime man.I personally think that Johnson is the best allrounder in the world, his bowling has been great in the last year (for the most part) and is a pretty good late order Batsmen. That is why he is world cricketer of the year. Brett Lee is hot and cold but has been bowling well recently so I'd like to see him back in tests. Stuart Clark is my favourite Australian bowler though who definately should be in the team because of his consistentsy. Hilfenhaus and Siddle are ok, but we haven't had too much success since we have been using them. Nathan Hauritz was a huge suprise when he was selected for the team because at the time he was NSW reserve spinner behind Beau Casson. I was against him being in the squad at first, but he performed quite well on spinning wickets in the Ashes.
I never thought I'd say this, but go NSW in the 20/20 Champions League.
I agree with this, although he has been out for a while due to injury and when he got to play that Ashes test he had a good first innings but poor second innings, so one might think he's still not used to playing tests again yet.Stuart Clark is my favourite Australian bowler though who definately should be in the team because of his consistentsy.
Shit, didn't see that coming. Who will replace him, any thoughts?
Well done to NSW who won the 20/20 Champions League, I really expected them to win though. They have an absolute amazing and star studded team - they also have Shane Watson, Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin who didn't even play in the tournament.
I didn't even know who NZ former coach was.
Isnt Shane Watson a QLDer?
