Does anyone here think that Shane Watson shouldn't be opening the batting for the Aussies? Hell, his a great bat and all, but his just not consistent enough for my liking. I think Mike Hussey should be given a go at the job, as he doesn't seem to be doing much down the order. Just my two cents, what do you guys think?
 
I think someone like Phil Hughes, Phil Jaques or Chris Rogers should be opening for Australia with Katich. Some former Aussie captain also said 'It's a shame for Australia that someone like Watson is opening in Tests'. In ODI's/T20's, he's the perfect man to open.
In some bad news, India can miss Yuvraj Singh in the ODI series vs Sri Lanka, thanks to a finger injury...
 
I dont think he should be opening in any form. But on the other hand he should definitely be in the side, and I sure as hell wouldnt drop Hussey.

But Hussey opening makes a lot more sense to me.

What a match! We don't get to see so close matches every day! Only 3 runs is the margin india won by, Sri Lanka played really well, but a loss is a loss, poor Sri Lankans...
 
Wow just wow! I can't believe Sri lanka managed that much! Usually teams crumble under pressure with that kinda total. Just glad that India won. Nowdays even 350+ scores aren't safe,lol
 
Sri Lanka are a very very well drilled unit. They'll threaten top spot for a few years yet.

As for Watson opening, completely agree. Hughes or Marsh ftw.
 
If you ask me, they need to drop Hussey already. Put Watson down in his spot and bring in Hughes to open. Hussey seriously hasn't done a thing ever since his first season, yet they keep him around =/

Huss is a much needed anchor at 4/5 in the order.

Watson needs to find his niche somewhere else though, I definitely agree. Hughes is the shiznit.
 
Watson has had success at the opening position 13 Tests 5 Fifties including 53,62,78,89,96 and 3 40s in 22 innings that isn't the best but it isn't bad. Roach's bowling has been awesome but he hasn't gotten many wickets though
 
Haha of course he was going to go and play well after me having said that.. but really it's only one innings and he's still rubbish =D
 
Is it just me or is Hussey scoring much slower than he used to?

I think it might be a case of losing confidence in his attacking approach that brought him so many runs has caused him to fall back on a less effective defensive approach.

I'm so raging at Ricky Ponting at the moment instead of enforcing the follow on when we are 208 runs up at the change of innings he elects to bat for some godforsaken reason. He nearly always does this and I have no idea why you ever not enforce a follow on. Now we are 8/137 and are only leading by 345 runs. Australia are definately a shadow of the team we used to be.
 
They need to bring Ishant Sharma back into the attack. I thought he bowled pretty well in the T20's. I feel right hand bowlers have a much better shot at getting him out.

If Gayle gets going again in the second innings. Things could get interesting....
 
Ishant Sharma has been underperforming like shit. I do like him more than Praveen Kumar though. I don't blame the bowlers completely, I mean look at Sri Lanka, they're going through the same shit lol.

But I'd think of doing 2 pacers, 3 spinners seeing as the spinners have actually been doing really well. Plus, Mishra and Ojha are both awesome.

Praveen kumar should not bowl on Indian conditions PERIOD! I don't care if he can bat a bit. We have such a long battling line up why do we need to extend out tail anyway. Ishant has had a pretty bad year yes. But he is one guy who can produce those high pace delivery's. Also can you really blame the bowlers on these wickets? lol

They should give Ishant the new ball and let him go. Tell him Bowl fast and hit the deck hard. No worries if you give away runs. Wickets are important. I never understood why India couldn't produce a fast bowling all rounder. All our all rounders are spinners =/

Also Golden opportunity for the Windies to get a test win in Aus. If they bat carefully they should easily chase 359. Time is not the Issue...

RP singh I liked at first but he has been out of form for a while now. I don't count IPL performances. Pathan can't swing it like he use to. A guy bowling 130k/h in International Cricket is pretty much a liability. Most of our pacers need the new ball because they are swing bowlers. Which kinda sucks,lol

Also Windies messed up...Don't think they will win this one.
 
Bad fielding ftl. Dhoni even said we should score 20 more runs each time we bat thanks to our bad fielding.
Windies have messed up. 122 more required with Nash and Benn on the crease with 4 more wickets seems tough. Benn needs to give the strike to Nash.
I'm feeling bad for Benn, banned for 2 ODI's. Is it just me that always when Aussie players are in the dock, they get away lightly. Eg. Hayden and Symonds earlier last year and Haddin and Johnson now...
