Probs not going to pursue the endeavor much for the rest of the month due to work/school but I think Entei has a legitimate niche in the meta. A lot of teams are packing weak fire resists (Lati, Hydreigon) who are both 2hko'd by Entei. Especially in a meta dominated by MegaVenu, Entei forces players to switch around and risk burns/residual damage in order to get out from behind the 8ball. Sacred fire is extremely punishing and even does surprising chip to true resists such as Swampert, Suicine, or Tentacruel (while risking burn). It really provides extreme pressure that forces some teams to completely crumble.
While extremely effective against balance/BO compositions, Entei also holds its own fairly well against pretty much every offensive archetype. Bringing it in as a revenge killer early game really forces the opposing player to make serious sacrifices and makes the game more flexible on your end. Offense lacks legitimate switch ins that either a) do not get OHKOd, or b) cannot switch in without risking burn. The pressure of Sacred Fire and the priority of ExtremeSpeed make it hard for offense to deal with Entei as both a revenge killer and late game cleaner.
I really would love to see more people using Entei as a banded option on BO/offensie archetypes.

If the fun of laddering wasn’t enough incentive this should be! Apologies for the hold off in August and September but I had to wait for this.
Now, let’s get into Dark Horse! It’s a new month folks, September, and tier shifts are in full swing. You can find the usage stats right (here) or the updated link in the project indroduction. Read the rules! Make sure to show me your team with each individual Pokémon’s usage and what it adds up to. Also make sure to screen shot your position on ladder when you qualify for a letter rank.
