The Everything MLB Thread

Julio Franco retired at 49 :( I was hoping that he would make 50 years. I mean, to put into perspective how amazing that is, he never hit the Mendoza Line of .200 (although he came close last year) in any season, and his lifetime average is .298. I hope he makes the hall of fame :)

I would love to see him go, being possibly the longest playing baseball player of all time, but outside of his .298 average, his numbers are not that great. Here's a link to his stats on espn.com. See for yourself.

I know his statistics. They are not hall of fame worthy, but getting in the hall of fame is not all about statistics!

How are the Marlins 18-14 and in first place with their criminally low budget. I hate that owner so much, he is even worse than the Twins' owner :(

Loria and Pohlard and freakin' ridiculous. Hate on the Yankees and Red Sox all you want for those ridiculous payrolls, but face the facts, they play to win. The Twins and Marlins get by on good, cheap talent, but it's clear ownership is just trying to break even and make a buck.

Btw does anyone ever wonder were the revenue sharing the Yankees end up paying these teams goes?

alfonso soriano is on a mad tear right now. there isnt much else to say about it.

2 HRs today too but the pirates still beat the cubs.

jon lester threw a no hitter :D

buchholz had one last year, and schilling was one out away last year.

about time lester had a good game though seriously.

wow. i am ashamed to be a mets fan. it's downright embarrassing. we pay Santana big fucking dollars to give up 12 hits and 4 runs in a crucial game. and then the rest of the mets offense sputters, as usual (save for the initial power). they're done in the East and Willie is probably gonna get the axe.

so much for all the hype around Santana and the "better" New York Mets this season. Santana has proved he's not $150 million man everyone thought he was (hell, Maine has done just as well and is about ...$145.5 million cheaper!) and the line up has proved they don't have it in them. No heart and fire.

This needs a bump

Rays-Red Sox Brawl
Red Sox in team troubles Manny vs. Youkilis
blah blah everything revolves around the Red Sox/Yankees/Mets/East Coast topics haven't even been mentioned these past few weeks!?

Aaaand the reason I even sought out this topic was to make a prediction that the Twins sweep the White Sox this weekend, take over the AL Central lead, and Ozzie has something to say about it afterwards

The Rays are still good though, but not having Carlos Pena for the time being is definitely going to hurt.

The shitty Mets won't get it done this year because they really only have Santana and Pedro. Pelfrey and Perez are both pretty bad and the offensive side of the team just doesn't produce nearly enough. I think that it'll be the Phillies or Braves winning it out in the end in the NL East but one shouldn't count out the Marlins at this point.

I hope that the Yankees get it going and that Chien-Ming Wang stops sucking it up.
