Kickalicious hits 49 and 50 yard FGs in tonight's game!

(go kickalicious :D)

EDIT: Kickalicious had 1 attempt, a successful 33-yard field goal.

WaterBomb/DM, from what I remember from extremely casual reading on the subject, the main problem is overgrown quads, like the body can only handle those being so big and also actively being used to such an explosive purpose

Sounds pretty accurate to me. Reminds me of that episode of Rurouni Kenshin where Kenshin was fighting against Senkaku, and kept speeding up subtly until the guy with the overgrown muscles simply fell apart because his joints could no longer handle the stress of changing direction.

Yeah, sounds accurate to me too. You don't see as many shoulder/elbow injuries as you do knee/hip these days. Blowing out ACL/MCL/LCLs, strained quads and hamstrings, etc.

The rhythm/pattern of this conversation about injuries has something intrinsically hilarious to me and I don't know why...

Ok so let me share my thoughts on Steelers/Giants.

Steelers: Why do teams find the need to pass against the Giants near the end zone? Its always run run run run down the field, pass... Nothing happens. forced to pass again. Nothing. Just stick to the run and you win. So obvious it hurts.

Giants: The offense is still total garbage. Blah blah a couple minutes of preseason blah blah. Problem is that everything wrong about 2012 was done again. TOs give the offense great FP. Then proceed to go 3 and out. Settle for field goal. Next series waste a down on some stupid big play attemp. Obviously do nothing and start with 2nd and long. Then what? Waste the 2nd down on a futile running attempt and end up in 3rd and 9(7 if lucky). This is annoying to watch. This offense is going to do shit again if they keep this up.

Of course Nicks could stay healthy OR all those stupid shots down the field work more often than not(i.e its meant to happen) and the Giants end up with a inconsistent as hell offense yet again.

Like i said last year, i'll take a horrible season if it means getting rid of Gilbride and his stupid luck based offense.

Per multiple sources, Tom Brady left practice today with a knee injury.

An injury to Brady on Tebow's birthday. Coincidence? I think not.

Now that the NFL Network turned into Redzone, preseason is actually really fun.

I still think McCoy is the best RB in the league. Better than AP. Don't have any evidence, but last year McCoy proved he was better(imo at least). Also, it was disgusting watching Trent Cole dropping into coverage so much. Hopefully the Giants sign him next year after he is inevitably cut by the Eggs.... And then the Giants will have the entire Egg DL. Minus Babin who was always crap anyway.

I'm going to have fun watching Egg games this season. I just wished they had even an average QB in their team. I just love aggressive coaches like CK. Won't get to enjoy blow outs like the Saints or Patriots but just watching a modern offense is fun enough. I have to put up with a garbage offense from the 90s whose "explosiveness" is nothing but fluky inconsistency.

I'm glad Brady is fine. Hes the one player i would not want to see get hurt. Eli before Brady. We are all going to miss him. He has but a few years left. These last years are gifts. And i am treating them as such.

Brandon Weeden <3

Let's hope its legit.

EDIT: Yes, i'm rooting against the Giants this year. Which is letting me have WAY more fun watching football. I don't care who wins what(except the Skins to lose all their games so i won't hear RG3s name ever again). I lost faith in Kevin Gilbride. I had no faith in perry, meaning i don't care which players the Giants have. They're destined to suck. I just want a 5-11 season to get rid of them all. We host the SB so chances are it might happen. Cowboys or nuthin this year. Boys hype is (hopefully) strong enough to drown out RG3.

Excuse me but I must have missed McCoy's near record breaking rushing performance last year. Would you be so kind as to recap me that?

You think simple facts will stop Some Hero? Hahahahahaha. Godspeed to your other endeavors friends, but in this you will fail.

Jamaal Charles was the only RB who has been statistically in AP's wheelhouse over the last decade. Best RB transcends more than one season. It is a damn shame he had to blow an ACL so early in a season he would have put up 1500 yards 6.0 rushing again on Charles' part.

(Since I went to UT & grew up watching AP rape my teams, I hate AP with all my heart and soul if it exists, and I love Charles so much...I tried loving Benson but he made it too uncomfortable, I even loved Selvin Young & super old Ricky Williams)

What i say? I can't back it up. I just love Shadys cuts man. The way he plays. The way he improvises is unreal. Production aside, i just think McCoy is the better RB.

Also, you may laugh now but Carson Palmer will reclaim his title as a top 10 qb this year. Because fuck the 49ers.

Okay, let's try to end this terrible thread of conversation and start a new good one: DIVISIONS.

Overrated division: AFC North. I think all those teams are going to backslide a bit this season (except the Browns, which I expect to improve and possibly contend for the division crown). The Bengals are getting a lot of press, but I'm not 100% sold on Dalton. The Ravens lost a ton of key players and didn't fill all the gaps adequately through FA. The Steelers are aging terribly and are no longer the force they were 3-5 years ago.

Toughest division: NFC West. I mean, holy shit, Seahawks and 49ers are both beastly teams, the Cardinals could have a prolific offense again (finally) if they can keep Carson Palmer upright and throwing within Fitz's vicinity, and the Rams upgraded just about everything. Can't wait to watch those division games.

True question marks: AFC/NFC East. Both east divisions are up for grabs this year. I would be silly to count out the Patriots, they're always the class of the division, but I think both the Bills and Dolphins made significant strides this off-season while the Pats appear to be weakening. As for the other east, I really have no fucking clue who the class is. You can never count out any of the four teams, because they always play each other so strongly. Any one of them could blow up and have an amazing stretch of winning at any time.

Your thoughts?

I'm a Ravens fan, so I'll focus solely on the AFC North in this post.

I don't think it's really appropriate to call the AFC North overrated. Most people I've heard opinions from seem to be down on the division as a whole. There is no dominant team in the division, and most seem to believe the two Ohio teams are on the rise, while the Ravens and Steelers, who have owned the division for years, are losing their reign.

Regarding the Browns: This team will be better than most people think. I think the addition of Norv Turner as OC was huge for them. Turner was renowned for screwing things up as a HC in SD, but his services are much better utilized calling the shots offensively. T-Rich is a stud, and believe it or not, I think Weeden can be a more than serviceable QB in an offense that's running more plays from the shotgun.

Bengals: I don't think they'll run away with the division; in fact, I don't believe they'll win it. While they have soon-to-be superstar A.J. Green and other young talented players like Giovani Bernard and Tyler Eifert, I don't think they (the aforementioned players) will have much of an impact this year. Obviously, they face limitations in the passing game with Dalton at the helm. Still have a solid, if not one of the better, defenses in the NFL.

Ravens and Steelers: Everyone seems to always predict the demise of each franchise for at least the immediate future every season, citing how old they are, etc., yet at least with the Ravens, that hasn't been the case. Both teams have made an effort to get younger: Ravens got rid of injury-prone Reed and Boldin (didn't necessarily agree with that move) and other players who are decent options but weren't integral to the team, mainly on defense. The Steelers drafted Le'Veon Bell, hoping to end the circus that was the Steelers RB situation, then got Jarvis Jones in attempt to rebuild that once great defense (still was pretty good last season anyway). Concerning the Ravens, this is what GM Ozzie Smith does: Let go of expendable players, sign/draft better ones or those with bigger potential, and the Ravens always seem to be all right despite most people predicting doom for the team. Obviously, things are different without Pitta for the season; before, I was confident in the Ravens being able to take the AFC North yet again, but at this point, it's up for grabs for any team.

Please enlighten us on these huge strides the bills made. New coaches and a rookie QB will suddenly allow them to compete with the Patriots? Please, the QB position is still a huge question mark(kolb sucks and not every rookie can have a Luck like season). Plus your defense hasn't proved itself either. Making ponder look like crap isn't hard. He was without AP. Unproven defense(although it looks better) combined with nothing sure at QB makes me not have high hopes for the Bills.

I don't really buy into the dolphin hype, but i could see them making the playoffs as the 6th seed or something. Its the AFC.

Patriots are still the best team IN THE AFC. I don't care how many offensive receivers they lost. That offense can be ran with no names as long as Welkers position remains untouched. And i think they IMPROVED there. Amendola is a better Welker and if he stays healthy they can stay above .500 until gronk gets back and they go in that 8-9 game winning streak to close the season. The Pats do shit early in the season anyway. 12-13 wins easily.

The NFC East is the most overrated division. 3 teams have 5 prime time games... Thats just stupid. The Boys are far away the most talented team in the division. They might NOT win the division though because of stupid brain farts and random ass turnovers. They're the frontrunners.

I know it's "lol preseason" but holy shit has Tom Brady been impressive the last two weeks. Amendola seems like he's as advertised as a Welker upgrade, and he's connected well with some other no-names (Thompkins, Vereen, Sudfield) as well. The Patriots might be on the decline in the big picture, but if Brady's that accurate when the defense is actually trying they'll be more than fine this season.

They can't even go a preseason game without stupid turnovers, hehe. First three drives today went 161 yards in 15 plays, and ended punt/fumble/fumble.

I guess you missed the part where they were already competing with the Patriots, beating them two years ago and going up 21-0 in another game before blowing it in ridiculous fashion. We always play them hard, and now that Chan Gailey is out of the way, we can actually realize our potential.

And it isn't just new coaches and new QB, although that's what everyone in this city wanted. It's also new GM and new-ish owner (Ralph Wilson named Russ Brandon CEO, basically the same idea). Everything is new here, and we still have the best backfield in the league, no CB can cover Stevie Johnson, and losing Levitre will not be the big blow to the OL that everyone thinks it will be. Fitz was a bad QB, but our line kept him very clean and paved the way for CJ's huge season. Now, add in TJ Graham playing much better and new rookie WRs Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin, and other, and our offense looks to be very fun to watch.

The run defense was 31st last year under Dave Wannstedt. There is NO fucking way Mike Pettine is about to let that happen again. Jerry Hughes and Manny Lawson are having great camps and look to be good additions, and if Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams can stay healthy in the middle and Mario earns a little bit of that money, we'll be vastly improved. Kiko Alonso has looked to be the MLB we thought Posluszny was and Stephon Gilmore is the shut-down corner no one is talking about. We need to get Byrd back and find another good CB, but everything is headed in the right direction.

We were 6-10 last season and only improved everything. I am worried because we have a bear of a schedule this year (AFC North and NFC South), but hey, no other way to make a statement.
