Okay I just looked at the Pro Bowl rosters.

Alex Smith made the fucking Pro Bowl? He's worse than fucking Cutler! Kaepernick didn't make it, Romo didn't make it, Stafford didn't make it, but Alex Smith did? Shit, Josh McCown's a better choice for Pro Bowl fill-in than lolalexsmith is! Ben Roethlisberger? No, Alex Fucking Smith, game manager extraordinaire!

Also, people (IRL, not in this thread) need to stop saying racist shit about Richard Sherman. It makes people defending him look intelligent. Dude's an egomaniac that has I'm the defensive version of Chad Johnson written all over him. Don't call him an "n-word", a "thug", an "ape" or whatever, call him an asshole. Call him a moron. Because he acts like an asshole and a moron, not a thug. He's not a criminal, he's not a wife-beater or a drug dealer, he's just an asshole. So call him that, not something that discredits you. For someone who majored in communications at Stanford, he communicates with the aptitude of a sixth grader. Make fun of him for that, not his race.

Also, if Sherman can fetch18 million on the open market, the Seahawks should get rid of him. No cornerback, even one as good as Sherman, is worth 18 million dollars. Don't Flacco yourselves, Seattle. Or do, what do I care? It's not like I give a damn about the 'Hawks.

I think that's precisely why people are dropping n-bombs on social media and IRL. Because they feel for someone who went to Stanford (and majored in communications) he communicates like said "n-word", "thug", "monkey" etc. People tend to equate Black with Ignorance almost subconsciously. Though, I guess he gave them ammo with what he said.

I'm split on Sherman. On the one hand, I feel like someone who acts like that can actually be taken advantage of, particularly by the media. People thought Erin Andrews was freaked out from his reaction when she interviewed him literally immediately after he made a game-winning play that clinched a Super Bowl berth against a divison rival and against a Crabtree that talked trash about him prior to this game after the game, but her Twitter feed said otherwise. I don't blame her specifically since she did what she was trained to do, but I dunno. I always get the feeling the media/reporters take advantage of moments like that. I can hardly believe reporters people in the NFL didn't know about Sherman's "history" with Harbaugh (sometimes I think the "DON'T YOU EVER TALK ABOUT ME" bit wasn't just aimed at Crabtree, even though he stated Crabtree was talking about him when asked). So, part of me thinks he needs to quiet down for his own sake. But maybe I should take off this thingy on my head that feels like tin foil. Probably reading too much into it.

On the other hand, that Huff Post article posted earlier really got me thinking. And things from Huff Post don't make me do that too often since they've had questionable (news) articles on their site in the past. I think our culture/this generation/whatever is a bit soft. If young Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordan or Gary Payton were playing now, we'd be vilifying them. I mean people didn't like Ali back THEN! We wouldn't have survived those days. IMO Sherman's "antics" were light compared to the smack talk that came out of the previously mentioned athlete's mouths.

I did hear the trash talk from Crabtree went all the way back to where they were both at a club before the season had started and etc etc. Don't know who started what(inb4 Sherman).

I fucking love Richard Sherman. Everyone in this thread and in the world that hates him is just petty to me.

The dude's a good guy that made one of the best defensive plays I've seen in a while and someone threw a microphone in his face like thirty seconds later. Of course he was hype as fuck, he just sent his team to a Super Bowl on a play where if he HADN'T made that play, the 49ers would've been going to the Super Bowl instead.

He graduated from Stanford which is a way better school than any of you fucks went to, and he does a ton of charity work in and around Seattle. He's a standup guy that got hype on a fucking football field, just shut the fuck up about him being an asshole. Twenty years ago no one would've given a shit, all you political correct douches need to calm the fuck down.

Wait people seriously thought Erin Andrews was intimidated? It was pretty obvious she was raring to go into the next set of questions but the people upstairs called her off to get Sherman off air.

Sherman acted like a child (reminded me of myself), and nothing more. Anyone calling him a thug or questioning his intelligence, morality, etc. Is obviously retarded, but if someone is calling him out for acting immature or making himself look like a fool then they are absolutely correct.

Stanford definitely is not a "way better school than any of us went to". That was a terrible ad hominem by any standard.

DetroitLolCat, I do not think teams can avoid paying QBs $20 million anymore. Kaepernick is in line to probably get $20 million a year too from what I read (again I am not great with these salary conversations, think it was him mentioned). Is he a good QB, sure. $20 million a year though? Shit is entirely out of control. Everyone can pass now, this was practically the year where "huh x backup QB just passed for 3 TD 0 INT and 350 yards happened??" was the norm. Josh McCown had a career revival, the rules handicapping defenses have made passing so easy that 75% of NFL caliber QBs can act like competent starters now, but because of the exploding TV money (sports are the only "true" live events left etc) it is going to be fairly impossible to stop handing out these contracts.

Readers/viewers/reporters say they want non-cliched, honest looks at players. Then we get it, in the heat of the moment, and are mad?

The Picture and the two texts really show how much Erin is offended by Sherman's outbreak... Come on, stop this ranting.

youre right i bet you blasted through harvard/yale/princeton/colombia no problem suma cum laude because those are the only colleges in the country that can be considered better than stanford in any measurable way lolll why would you even try and nitpick this

Hahhaha Standford isn't even the 3rd best school in California... Although to be honest the savages up there are entirely different from us and are practically their own state. Nice try though.

oh i forgot some hero's opinion trumps the statistically-backed rankings by every single college ranking organization in the world

Opinion... Tries to disprove with more opinion.

Heh, keep being a sheep and place the name above what matters.

Plenty of people in the world have intelligence (for instance, I got a 3.7 at UT while doing shit like literally skipping every non-test class in a semester...college is a place to fuck around, not take seriously...what if there are say 10 more people in the thread like this?), randomly assuming the intelligence level of an entire cloud of people that you do not personally know is the definition of something that is justifiable to nitpick at. Even if your guess about averages in play is correct, you are still just randomly insulting people as if Richard Sherman might not be a bratty, violent guy when he plays a sport that trains him to be both things. Sherman has proven in public at basically all times that he appears bratty and violent, why would people not assume it about him? Why does he need to be defended just because he went to fucking Stanford?

Grades might reflect intelligence on average, but it also reflects effort/desire/interest more than actual intelligence for a lot of people.

Acting like some amount of intelligence necessarily affects terrible choices or bad behavior is ludicrous. It certainly makes you more aware, but does not prevent anything. I am smart as hell, and I certainly choose to be nasty a lot more than I choose to be nice. Stanford has nothing to do with how the fuck a guy behaves, you can be a "thug" and have a 4.0 level brain. School is easy, being an incredible asshole is also easy.

No one gives a fuck what school he went to. Him going to Stanford should put him at a higher expectation if anything, not a lower one.

That said, I love this kid. He literally does one thing wrong (it wasn't even wrong really he called Crabtree a bad player after he got as close to being punched in the face as he could by the guy) and everyone loses their shit. I personally hate the Seahawks and I think they need more guys like Sherman. Kid's a fucking leader if anything. Watch any of his interviews, listen to him mic'd up, he never dedicates any of his skill to himself. It's always about his front 7 and other members of the secondary. He said himself the front four make the secondary, not the actual secondary. I watched an interview with him today about how much he trusts his teammates to go and make plays that he'll intentionally blow coverage on one guy to go cover someone open because he knows his teammates can make plays on the ball and he doesn't worry about if the guy he left is covered or not because he truly believes everyone around him is as good as if not better than him.

I hope the guy runs his mouth more. He deserves it. He's around other teams all the time where the players there are the actual punks (see: 49ers) and because you don't hear what they say on the field or always see what they do or know what they think they never get a bad rep. Guy has to deal with Jim Harbaugh's bitch ass twice a year. If I had to do that I'd go fucking insane too.

I hope the Seahawks completely shut down Peyton so Sherman can shove his dick in everyone's face again.

To be honest Richard Sherman has turned the Broncos into the lovable underdogs. So i have to love him. The Broncos are just the next Ravens and Giants. A team no one believed in going against hyped, supposedly great teams. Everyone thinks the Broncos have no shot now. That's how i like it. You will all be shocked come sunday.

What the fuck are you smoking? The Broncos are the favourites, Sherman just turned the Seahawks into villains in the eyes of the media
