your defense is still crap (worst in the NFL last year IIRC), rogers misses half the plays just because he's out of shape and gets tired, you traded your best corner btw, and anderson is just another guy with a big arm who happens to have great targets

Well if Edwards would learn how to fucking catch, that game could have been drastically different.

broncos will win the afc west. you heard it here first.

If by first you mean that it was commonly predicted (although people of course lend the Chargers more credence overall), then sure.

The Vikings-Packers game was a great game. Both teams have their flaws, but both teams looked highly competitive. The only division that seems totally limp right now in the NFC is, as typical, the West, especially with the Seahawks top four wide receivers and quarterback apparently injured.

Well if Edwards would learn how to fucking catch, that game could have been drastically different.

Edwards dropped one ball that game.

Derek Anderson is overrated in every sense of the word. A average QB blessed with some DAMN good talent at receiving (Edwards, Winslow, Jurevicus). His stats last year were largely inflated by YAC. Even his touchdowns were somewhat inflated by playing the Bengals twice (who has a shitty secondary).

D.A is not an elite QB. He's not even a good QB. He's an average joe who hit the gravy train with his supporting cast.

how are the broncos commonly predicted to win the afc west? nobody is giving them credit at all this year. its all chargers this and chargers that. no way is san diego going to the super bowl, let alone winning the division. this is the year they will keep up their consistency.

lol shawne merriman finally realizing that 4 expert opinions are better than his retarded ass ego. I say good riddance in the sense that I want to see him play next season and not throw his career away.

and edwards was certainly dropping passes everywhere.

Were those balls catch-able? Sure. Did Anderson put Edwards in a good spot to catch them? No.

The ball was either behind them, underthrown, overthrown. Very few times did he "lead" his receivers. Very few times did he hit them in the numbers.
Maybe given a few more years of experience Edwards will make those catches. Right now I don't hold it against the man. The dude is a stud.

Browns lost because of shitastic D-line play, and some meh throwing by the QB (granted the Oline wasn't doing him any favors).

In other news, anyone hoping that Vince Young bounces back from this? The kid has so much raw potential, I really hate how the fans down at Nashville is treating him. The man led you guys to a 10-6 record. Be more fucking supportive.

I'm not really bashing/defending either player. I think Anderson is average, and Young has a lot of ability that needs to be unlocked.

What I am bashing is the Titans fans who mercilessly boo this kid. He didn't play great but it's just one game. I didn't like how the Brown fans boo'ed their team either. It's one game people, learn some patience.

Young has a lot of ability that needs to be unlocked.

that's what they said about vick LOL

The only difference between Vince Young and Michael Vick is that the fans in Nashville are tearing Young up right now and the fans in Atlanta loved Vick so much that they blamed racism for Vick's suspension and not the pitbull deal lol.

I kind of hope the Browns are retarded and don't play Quinn for a long time...

big eddie royal

Vince Young isn't much better than Leinart, his job is merely secure because Kerry Collins isn't exactly Kurt Warner. He could certainly be worse, though. And hey, Steeler, Vince Young hasn't exactly been shown to have the legal troubles that have plagued Vick through his career. Don't disservice him with that comparison just because they were both supposed to be mobile negroes.

Well if Edwards would learn how to fucking catch, that game could have been drastically different.

lol michigan players

And yeah he did drop at least three balls, if not more. I don't think the outcome would've changed a whole lot, though. Romo could've stripped, did Jessica Simpson twice, slept it off, ran off to Mexico for a week, and re-dressed for the game with the time he had in the pocket all day. Edwards' drops don't even compare to how bad the defense looked.

Derek Anderson is overrated in every sense of the word. A average QB blessed with some DAMN good talent at receiving (Edwards, Winslow, Jurevicus). His stats last year were largely inflated by YAC.

more like brett favre amirite

Were those balls catch-able? Sure.

End of argument, right there. If it touches your hands, you catch the fucking ball.

Maybe given a few more years of experience Edwards will make those catches. Right now I don't hold it against the man. The dude is a stud.

Dude... what? Edwards is a PROFESSIONAL football player and had a breakout season last year, he is EXPECTED to catch the fucking ball. That's his job. If he needs experience just to do the most basic part of his job, than he shouldn't be their top receiver.

Browns lost because of shitastic D-line play

Completely right. They gave Romo all day and night to throw, which forced them to play pass and let Barber and the rookie run all over them underneath.

In other news, anyone hoping that Vince Young bounces back from this? The kid has so much raw potential, I really hate how the fans down at Nashville is treating him. The man led you guys to a 10-6 record. Be more fucking supportive.

He didn't lead anything last year, to be honest. The team made the playoffs on the running game and the stifling defense, and that's it. Young hasn't shown anything in the NFL in the past two years that would prove he is anything more than an average-at-best passer.

Maybe Edwards is pulling a Randy Moss and purposely dropping passes so he'll get traded to a better team?

Since I'm incredibly bored with my boss out today, I have decided to pick the winners for this weekends contests. Weigh in if you want.

Chicago at Carolina - Delhomme's arm looked great. I think Indy's mostly inept offense made the Chicago D look a bit better than it is. Matt Forte will have another big day.

Tennessee at Cincinnati - Ugh, the fucking Bungles. I don't care who's QB for the Titans, whether it's Vince Young or his mom, their defense is going to eat Carson Palmer alive. Johnson is going to run all over the place.

Green Bay at Detroit - It was no surprise Ryan Grant got shut down by Minnesota, but he has to be licking his chops at the chance to run against Detroit. Detroit will only win games this year by relying on offensive output rather than defensive stops, and the Green Bay D doesn't look like it's going to give them too much.

Buffalo at Jacksonville - Jax lost both starting guards last week and Garrard was sacked 7 times. This is Stroud's homecoming, going right up that weak middle OL. Lynch will crack 100 yards on the ground, and James Hardy will catch a few longer passes.

Oakland at Kansas City - It's like two paraplegics fist-fighting. I'm taking Oakland based on their running game and the secondary picking off Huard at least twice.

Indianapolis at Minnesota - The Bears disrupted the inner OL of the Colts all game last week without Saturday. The two best defensive tackles in the league? Forget about it. AP picks up where Forte left off.

New York Giants at St. Louis - Considering what Philly accomplished last Sunday, I can't wait to see the numbers Burress puts up.

New Orleans at Washington - New Orleans is finally looking like they have it together. Zorn will definitely manage the clock better, but I don't see the Washington D holding this explosive offense to field goals like they did the Giants.

San Francisco at Seattle - Seattle's strength is still its defense, and now more than ever they have to lean on it. San Fran was a turnover machine against Arizona, so Seattle just needs to establish a solid running game to win.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay - I definitely don't see a repeat of Atlanta's amazing start. Tampa Bay will prove much stingier against the run, and that will force more of the workload into Matt Ryan's hands... and he will make mistakes.

Miami at Arizona - This is tough, because I still don't know if Miami played that well in week 1... or if the Jets played that poorly. I do like Warner and Edge, though, this offense can do some damage. Jake Long has to remove his head from his ass.

San Diego at Denver - Denver impressed, but against Oakland. This will be the real test for Cutler against one of the best secondary's in the league. San Diego shouldn't have lost last week, they'll be out for redemption.

Baltimore at Houston - Another redemption victory. The Texans got tossed around like ragdolls, but I don't think they're going to let that happen again. Kubiak rallies the troops, Mario Willams harasses Flacco all day, and Schaub throws a couple TDs to ward off the calls for Sage.

New England at New York Jets - Here's where we find out the truth about the Jets: contenders or pretenders? Favre looked good in week one, but let's see how he fares against a much better defense and more consistent pass rush.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland - Cleveland wakes up and remembers why everyone hung so much expectation on them in the preseason. Shaun Rogers steps up and helps slow down Willie Parker, and Derek Anderson regains his form (with help from Braylon Edwards actually catching the ball), but the game gets put in Big Ben's hands and he and Hines Ward make the difference. Should be a shootout.

Philadelphia at Dallas - Did I say shootout before? Yeah, that's going to be a Sunday nap compared to this blockbuster. I'm calling at least 600 yards passing total in this game; if I could call this one a tie, I would do it gladly. I just don't think Philly is ready yet to knock the crown off the 'Boys, especially in Dallas.

I take back what I said; Vince Young's job isn't secure if he's crying to his mommy about how mean everyone is being to him!

Seattle will win because Julius Jones tears up at Qwest Field even if he's otherwise completely terrible.

Personally, I'm taking the Jets for the win this week as well. No knock against the Patriots D, the DL is still fantastic and the only "young" part of the team, but Favre can easily pick apart their weaker secondary since they don't blitz. Cassel probably can't lob the ball to Moss as accurately as Brady, maybe big Sammy Morris will show Maroney how to play in the NFL once again, though.

big NFC BEast showdown 8) Also, glad to see even the media start refering to the division that way.

Lol, I can never count the Bengals out with their weapons on offense. Titans have a shitty receiving corps, so the Bengals shitty secondary might stand a chance. Bengals win.

Oakland at Kansas City - It's like two paraplegics fist-fighting. I'm taking Oakland based on their running game and the secondary picking off Huard at least twice.

Larry Johnson is going to have a field day. And I'll take Huard over Russel. Chiefs win. Actually change that to LJ wins.

Indianapolis at Minnesota - The Bears disrupted the inner OL of the Colts all game last week without Saturday. The two best defensive tackles in the league? Forget about it. AP picks up where Forte left off.

Man, I just don't see the Colts going 0-2, especially with Hilarious Jackson at the helm for the Vikes. Colts win, Manning and company do a circle jerk in the endzone 4 times.

I'm a 49ers fan, so I'm just gonna say they win.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay - I definitely don't see a repeat of Atlanta's amazing start. Tampa Bay will prove much stingier against the run, and that will force more of the workload into Matt Ryan's hands... and he will make mistakes.

When Brady went down, it gave everyone a confidence boost. The Jets saying they are dissapointed Mr. Patriot got his ACL torn? That's bullshit. Jets over Cassel.

Cleveland wins. Steelers have a better QB, but Browns just has better weapons.

Eagles win. Gut feeling.

\

Oh, come on. The Bears unlocked their full potential and showed what they were in 06.
I'm almost certain that the Bears could win this game; If they smashed Indy they could do it to Carolina.

Cleveland wins. Steelers have a better QB, but Browns just has better weapons.

The Steelers defense looks quite a bit better than the Browns' D right now.

And Willie Parker tore the Texans up. And Barber/Jones tore Cleveland up. I'm not sold on the Browns run D playing up to this nationally televised game.

Donte Stallworth will be back for the Sunday night game, we'll see if Anderson can accurately get the ball to him. As long as Pittsburgh can get some pressure on him, I think he'll struggle a bit. At least to the point where his rhythm gets thrown off a bit. Dallas only got one sack on Anderson and he still played poorly. Don't know much of that had to do with Stallworth being out though, doubt Stallworth would have made much of a difference.

I think the Steelers O-Line will protect Ben pretty well. The Texans didn't bother them too much.

Pittsburgh should be able to outscore the Browns if need be.

I'll make my predictions for this week:

Chicago at Carolina - Coming off the big win against the Colts last week, I think the Bears will continue this success with a close win over the Panthers. Look for Matt Forte to have another good game.

Tennessee at Cincinnati - I know Vince Young is hurt, but I would rather have him then Kerry Collins (can't believe he's still in the league) as my starting QB. Cincinnati's offense will not repeat that poor of a performace that they had in week 1! Look for a big win for the Bengals!

Green Bay at Detroit - Ryan Grant had a 90+ yard game against the Vikings, which is a great showing against the best rushing Defense in the league. Now he faces possibly the worst rushing defense! Grant may have a career game here, and will likely be high scoring from both teams.

Buffalo at Jacksonville - Jacksonville was my pick in the AFC in the preseason, but they lost two of their starting guards for awhile. This hurts Garrard's efficiency and the running game. Buffalo will be my sleeper pick for a close win.

Oakland at Kansas City - Huard is an efficient back-up QB, and Larry Johnson will have a great game on the ground.

Indianapolis at Minnesota - Could go either way, but I give the edge to the home team. Look for AP to have a similar performance like Matt Forte had last week against the Colts.

New York Giants at St. Louis - I am not a believer of the Giants this year, and St. Louis is a better team than they performed last week. I think Steven Jackson will have his breakout game of the season and pull off the huge upset win!

New Orleans at Washington - New Orleans' offense is too strong for the Redskins to handle! Big win here

San Francisco at Seattle - Seattle may have problems on offense, with a banged-up Hasselback, starting receivers, and back-up RB Maurise Morris. Despite all that, Seattle is an excellent team at home, and they are still a pretty good team with those problems. Probably a close win.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay - Matt Ryan was mistake-free last week. He won't repeat against the Bucs.

Miami at Arizona - Miami is terrible, but better than last year. Arizona has a better team and will put up some numbers!

San Diego at Denver - Denver slaughtered the Raiders, and might be a great team this year. But even with Merriman's absence, the Chargers will be out for revenge for that horrible loss in week 1 to the panthers.

Baltimore at Houston - I love Houston this year, and I think Steve Slaton (from WV, yeah!) will have a successfully debut. Close win.

New England at New York Jets - Patriots minus Brady still equals another win against the Jets! Jets are good, and may be a playoff team this year, but Patriots are too talented for this to be an upset.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland - I'm picking this upset, only because the Browns will definitely NOT repeat their horrific offensive performance from last week, Hines Ward will not get a multi-TD game for the rest of the year, and Willie Parker will definitely not get more than one TD this game.

Philadelphia at Dallas - I'm a big believe in Philly this year! Dallas may be the most talented team, but I think the Eagles will catch them off-guard and Dallas will be unable to recover by the end of the game. McNabb and Westbrook are both super healthy this early in the season, and both will have mammoth games! 300+ yards for McNabb; 150 total yards and 2 TD for Westbrook!

Chicago at Carolina - Carolina's got some power this year, but do the Bears. Matt Forte shows another strong performance and bring victory to the Bears.

Tennessee at Cincinnati - I like the Bengals, but I think they're going to lose a close game here. I'm a bit biased though. Chris Johnson is one of my favorite rookies this year, and I'm certain that once he gets the awareness and ability to break tackles to back up that incredible speed he's capable of, he'll be one of the best in the league.

Green Bay at Detroit - High scoring game from both sides, but Grant will have one of his best nights of the season here, and Rodgers will start getting into a more consistent groove with his receivers.

Buffalo at Jacksonville - Sadly I didn't get to see Buffalo play yet. I like their roster this year though, so I'm going to go with them.

Oakland at Kansas City - Sadly, I don't think the Raiders have it in them yet to be a contender this season. If they don't pick up their defense soon, KC is going to run all over them.

Indianapolis at Minnesota - Considering how well Forte ran over them, I expect AP to run even better, but I can see Manning's passing offense tear up Min more than Rodgers did. It could go either way, but I just can't imagine Colts going 0-2.

New York Giants at St. Louis - Giants don't quite look like Super Bowl champs right now, but they look solid. Unless Jackson can really bring out the Ram's offense, I'm giving this one to New York.

New Orleans at Washington - Washington isn't going to stop the Saints offense. New Orleans wins big.

San Francisco at Seattle - Not impressed with either team so far, especially with how banged up Seattle is. They are the home team though this game, so close win for them.

Atlanta at Tampa Bay - Matt Ryan was mistake-free last week. He won't repeat against the Bucs.

Miami at Arizona - Miami still doesn't look too great yet. Arizona has this one.

San Diego at Denver - Sure Denver put up a lot of points last week, but it was against Oakland. San Diego is another tough team that doesn't want to start out 0-2.

Baltimore at Houston - Steve Slaton's a WVU boy, and I'm just waiting for him to put out numbers in the NFL.

New England at New York Jets - Even without Brady, Patriots are still good, but I think Favre will lead the Jets to a close victory here.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland - The Browns have some good receivers, but Big Ben, Ward, and Parker will bring too powerful of an offense for Cleveland to keep up with.

Philadelphia at Dallas - I believe in Philly this year, but I just don't think they're up to beating Dallas yet.
