Fun stat for Packers fans: Aside from Grant (who only rushed 29 yds), the player who rushed the second most amount of times was..........Brett Favre, with an amazing -1 yds.
Shows how badly they need another prolific running back, 28 rushing yards in a match is terrible.

That doesn't mean anything. It just means no one else rushed.
Grant didn't do too well..but as he said..Giants front 4 rape...in which they did to Grant.

Raperiots FTW!

loling at the MrE post

How exactly is your little jab appropriate, GB Packers FTW? The Packers played far worse than the Cowboys did against the Giants, so if anything, this game proved the Packers were worse!

I'm not happy about the Packers performance. But...Hopefully next season with all the guys being a little older they can be better and get to the Super Bowl.
</3
Sucked being 1 game away and now we're back at 18 counting the bye week. lawl.

Congrats to the Giants to playing like a Super Bowl team these last 4 games. Knocking out 1, 2, and 4 is pretty impressive.

Sorry Packer fans, I cursed Tynes by watching the first two kicks and changed the channel before he kicked the third so he could make it :/ Anyway, I agree 100% with what Ecnemalas said earlier about how the Chargers inability to score in the red zone screwed them. As for my Super Bowl predictions, I think the Patriots will win but I REALLY hope the Giants win.

I'm really glad that the Giants made it to the super bowl and showed how great they are outside of New York, but unfortunetly for Giants fans, your joy may be short lived. I don't think anything is standing in the Patriots way of 19-0, and with the exception of Seattle last year, the team that loses the super bowl has failed to make the playoffs the next year for at least 6-8 years. But hey, technically the super bowl is a road game for the giants, so maybe they can make it 11 straight.

OK I haven't really read much of this topic so if I cover something that was already said, well that's why. tl;dr probably.

First off, you have to feel good for the Giants kicker. Two missed field goals (though one was more the snapper's fault) that could have won the game originally and he made the most of his third chance. Kickers put up with a lot of shit in the league so you know he would have been feeling like ass if he missed that third one and the Giants ended up losing.

You also have to feel good for Eli Manning. He puts up with a lot of shit in NY and always being in Peyton's shadow must blow. Good for him to finally step up and be the player everyone expects him to be.

As for the Giants/Packers game itself, the Packers just couldn't get the run game going that made them lethal the previous week. That, in combination with the complete unwillingness to double cover Plaxico, was pretty much the difference in the game. Favre was pretty ineffective in the second half and honestly a good chunk of his yards in the first were from one big play but despite that the only thing people are going to look at is his pick in overtime as his only fault. That said, I don't think he had a bad game and I do think he did enough IF the Packers D did a better job. As for the Giants, like they have done in their previous two games, they did just enough to win. Plays came when they needed them and nobody fucked up too badly with a timely turnover or penalty. As I said, Plaxico was a huge difference maker. All in all, this was by far the more entertaining game of the two.

Surprise, surprise.. the Patriots won. Really not much to say about this game.. Faulk was wide open way too much and the essential difference was the Chargers settling for field goals in the red zone while the Pats got TDs. Arguably they should have tried to take a shot at the end zone on one of those field goals since it's pretty common knowledge that you need a good chunk of points to even be close to beating the Patriots. Rivers did fairly well for being "doubtful" and I'm pretty sure the Chargers were playing some mind games. This game was pretty boring to watch.

I'll come back for my Super Bowl predictions later..

Omg what a game. Both games were pretty good. But the only one i really care about is the Giants vs Packers.

My New York Giants fucking won. I fucking can't believe it. If you would have told anyone that the giants would be in the superbowl after they went 0-2 against the cowboys and greenbay the first two games they would have laughed in your face. They played so incredibly bad in those two games but in these, they played with tenacity and came through.

If anyone says the giants didn't earn this victory, they are a fucking retard. The giants dominated the game. If there is one stat that will illustrate how much the Giants dominated.

Time of possession NYG 40:01 Packers 22:34.

You can try an argue or make excuses but the giants were the underdog and played like the favorite.

Oh and I saw a post about how all of the giants fans are popping up now that they are in the superbowl. I think this proves my fan hood.

I thought the season was gonna suck after Tynes missed the FIRST XP of the year, and then 0-2, and down 14 against the Redskins.
Needless to say, I was thinking the worst. I thought this was going to be a rebuilding year.

Then we won, and won again, and won again. 6 Straight. Then we lost to a 2-6 Vikings team.

Now, we are in THE game. The only one that matters.

Good luck G-Men! You'll need it!

to the people thinking it's the worst Super Bowl ever.
two teams.
Baltimore Ravens. New York Football Giants.

Ew.

Still sad to see the season go. =(
19-0 will be amazing though.

I think yesterday proved how good the Patriots really are. Their record-setting offense didn't show up to play, and yet they still won by 9.

Brady in a cast?! :OOO

From Tuesday Morning Quarterback:
"Not only did Norv Turner order the silliest punt ever, passively conceding a Super Bowl trip, but he also made mincing fraidycat calls throughout the game. Facing the highest-scoring team in football history, Turner punted three times inside New England territory -- from the Flying Elvii 36, 41 and 49. Turner ordered a punt on fourth-and-inches from the San Diego 33, and if you don't think your offense can gain a few inches, why bother to have the guys suit up? Plus, Turner opted for field goals from the New England 5-, 6- and 8-yard lines. You're playing the highest-scoring team in history -- a team whose season-low output was 20 points, and that was in a 27-mph wind. You're going to have to score a lot of points to defeat the highest-scoring team ever. Yet three times inside the New England 10, Turner shrugged and took the field goal, and three times inside New England territory Turner didn't even try to score, passively booming a punt. Attempting to defeat a 17-0 team, the Chargers took no risks and never went for it on fourth down."

My question is why everyone is acting as if Norv Turner proved himself in these playoffs and is now proven as a worthy coach. He playcalled more mincingly than Marty even!

(This is not an attempt to denigrate the Chargers as a whole, who played wonderfully, not to mention how the Patriots had some egregious penalties that went uncalled, but I am merely trying to point out that Norv Turner is a typical failure of a coach!)

What a shame, considering he actually did a good job the week before. Here's to the G-Men! Of course, me being a Bills fan, they're probably doomed already. There just has to be something terribly, terribly wrong with my team that is of a metaphysical nature, and I hope it doesn't affect the Giants in any way, shape, or form.

I do not think that joke really stems solely from TMQ, as I am pretty sure every single person who watched that game has made that joke by now :(

Are you insane? The Giants COULD have won that game on three different occasions. The Packers were outplayed and outcoached. The Giants EARNED this championship.

I would hesitate to say that Green Bay was outplayed. Certainly were outcoached, which oftentimes results in being outplayed. I have watched the game film. Roughly 75% of the time that plaxico caught a pass it was when Harris was playing a zone. What does this mean? he may be backing off of plax and will not bump him. He only plays in his designated area, and in cover 2 this tends to be the flats, which a moronic scheme because most of the time they didn't even throw it there. Also he does not play the WR he plays the QB. Whos fault is this? Bob Sanders, our def playcaller who needs to get fired. This isn't philly were we create a nice cloud for Qb's. This is freaking Green Bay Wisconsin -42 degrees hardcore manly bump and run. We did it the rest of the year did we not? Now, when he was in man he is able to bump him up and throw off timing which is key. Not ot mention plax was supposed to be slightly bothered by an injury. When they were in man they got a sack, and Harris had that pic. I wont complain about the flags because they were iffy both ways. Sides, tbh i was happy that the Packers won a game past week 17 let alone get to the ship. Enjoy the NFC curse NY

anyways ill move on, since no one gives a damn about the superbowl which i won't even watch. Here are my 09 predictions. Maybe ill change them around depending on the draft. Im not going to post non playoff teams records cause i dont want to have to work out the math.

Superbowl forty w\e Pats VS Green Bay.

Packers have the Green jersey's, and they are 2-0 with them in the superbowl so for that reason they win. Also depending on the draft GB has more players with dreadlocks. Favre retires. The end. I'll cry. But he is the Best QB of all time.

How can you say nobody cares about this Super Bowl? New England is shooting for an undefeated season.. everyone should care if only to see history get made or an awesome upset occur. Seriously, it's cool to root for your favorite team and want them to win it all but get the fuck over it. They lost and I'm glad they did because I think the Giants will make for a more entertaining Super Bowl opponent for the Pats than the Packer would have.

there have been some bad super bowls in recent memory

i couldn't get into steelers/seahawks.

ravens/giants was BAD.

this game will be better than most people think. week 17 the giants played well. they've been on a roll. Are the Patriots the better team? Sure. But the better team doesn't always win. Obviously this is the case, since the Eagles didn't make the playoffs. I'll definitely be rooting for the Giants. screw perfection.

lol lottery

i just can't buy into the giants man i really can't, and i can't buy into eli in the super bowl

against the patriots

i can't help but think that the packers would have been the nfl's better "last line of defense" against the pats than the giants, heh

not to mention everyone loves brett favre and i want to see him win another, and this would have been such a terrific way to do it

oh well

31-20 pats
