fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

why would you trade a guy like Chris Kelly in the same division, goddammit

this is way more than waving the white flag, this is "here, take all our guns, we won't be needing them anymore"

effectively, yeah. Pretty sure Spezza might be up for grabs, he could do some real damage on a line with Tanguay and Iginla.

hmmm Duchene out indefinitely- I wonder when avs will pull the trigger on some trades? They have a good young core but I can't help but wonder what they will do. Surely they can't harbor hopes for playoffs this year.

At $7 million a season until 2014? Would anyone want to take that, or be able to take it, for that matter?
Someone, somewhere, will take that and make use of it, spezza can put up amazing numbers, but he cant do that when he is taking the brunt of the pressure (i.e. he needs to be on the second line with talented wingers to get him away from the heavy forecheck).

Put him with the right wingers and you'll see him be a top line centerman easy. It's not like he had a tremendous amount of help in Ottawa, especially since he hasn't got good chemistry with anyone there (okay well not in particular).

Interesting, Bieksa is out with a broken foot. With the canucks already having injury issues on the defense side, I wonder how this will impact things? I guess Hamhuis is back (or back soon) so it's not THAT bad.

Also Ruutu to duck sent a 6th round (previous acquired fro phoenix) to Ottawa for Ruutu. Great, that's all I wanted, is that FUCKER back in the west. 5 letters in his name and three of them are U's. UNACCEPTABLE. I wonder who is next on that team? I guess Edmonton can say goodbye to (the best chance at) first overall in the draft after all.

What I would have given to have been able to see a ruutu=tootoo-ruutu line....

I thought that was a good joke until I realized it was actually true

I dont think I understand this trade from either team's perspective given the relative ages... maybe Ottawa has really good ice girls? Figured they'd keep Elliot though... weird. To go back a bit I definitely think Spezza gets moved, though -- there's plenty of potential situations he's still an 80+ point guy and theres a shortage of those, no matter what his price tag is. Doubt it'll happen until the summer, though - cap hits that big are complicated to move.

Today is trade day apparently.

Kaberle finally moves to Boston. Leafs get the Bruins 2011 first round pick and their first round draft from 2008 Joe Colburne. And a conditional pick.

To clear cap space, Boston then sends Wheeler and Stuart to Atlanta in exchange for Peverly and Valabik.

I'm kind of laughing at Toronto trying to get its picks back from Boston. Too bad that once again, they will be low picks rather than high picks.

This said, the Bruins are really positionning themselves for a play-off run they believe could be a long one.

Toronto got really good payment for Kaberle but I still like the deal for Boston, they have a strong farm system now and more players than they need in the pros as it is, makes sense to throw some picks at trying to win now. I think they're definitely in a position to do that, too - I think they're definitely the favorites right now. Boston, Philly, Vancouver all going to be really tough outs...

Bruins still kinda lack that #1 scoring type but they've got awfully good depth and they're a defensive team anyway. It's kinda a pity they had to move Widemann at the beginning of the year but Chara/Kaberle is pretty scary top duo on the PP, they should be able to score with the extra man and that's where you need goals in the playoffs I think. I'm not huge on their 2nd/3rd pairings but with centers like Bergeron and Krejci backchecking and Thomas playing like he has they probably won't allow many anyway. Interesting team...

phillie stands as a MAJOR roadblock to boston. Boston did fill in the missing piece with Kaberle, they needed a mobile scoring D-man for sure and they DO have insane depth at center...like the best in the league IMO. But Phillie's depth is so staggering at that position and elsewhere. That would be an INCREDIBLE series to be honest.

Vancouver is also a small team, a few rounds with big western teams that do a lot of hitting and grinding and you'll see some injuries to key guys up front, I'm sure of it. Losing one key guy like Burrows will devastate their team mechanics.

LOL at the goalie swap. Fuckin' Ottawa and their fire sale stirring things up. I knew Kaberle would go before deadline, Burke even flat out said he hates being in that shitstorm and tries to deal before. Brewer to TB...EH. Whatever. I don't see them getting past phillie or boston to be honest.

Man why the fuck are teams still trading for white? Especially in the west? That guy is a bum.

I expect the flames to try to move hagman and stajan in a deal or something.

Feaster's doing all he can to rid the team of any evidence that Dion Phaneuf was there. LOL

Burkamania is running wild, brothers. Wheeling and dealing like no tomorrow. I'm hearing rumours that the third round pick from Philly's being shopped for a defenseman, but they're not really credible sources.

Ignoring for a moment how badly the avs/blues trade hurts me in fantasy, I'm just going to enjoy how bad that trade is by the avs. A mediocre forward and a highly overrated defenseman who's biggest accomplishment is having a dumber injury than the sakic in snowblower thing a couple years ago for what should be their teams #1 d prospect and the guy who has looked like he would have been their perennial leading goalscorer. They traded a shiny charizard for an energy card im pretty sure.

EDIT: I didnt notice originally picks are included and avs get the better pick back, which makes this slightly less stupid, but not much so. What are they thinking, lately? (The 1st round pick is dependent on one thing – the Blues can defer it to 2012 if it ends up being somewhere in the top 10. This condition may end up working for Colorado, as the 2012 draft is shaping up to be a very strong one. (From Dobber))

Also since im editing anyway that gif in the post below this is amazing
