The Everything NHL Thread

Niemi doesn't have another good game in him, I think he used them all up on detroit.

I honestly thought Niemi wasn't as bad as the scoreboard read. San Jose gave up too many power plays and they were sluggish getting out of the neutral zone, especially in the second period, giving up tons of turnovers. Letting the Canucks have over 30 shots, some of which were solid shots, is a recipe for disaster. Plus Niemi made some quality saves, especially that memorable tip from Daniel Sedin.

Hawks sign Crawford for 3 years, 8 mil

that cap space lookin tighter and tighter every day. If we traded Campbell for literally a bag of pucks, I'd be happy.

lol san jose is just a bunch of whiners using diving as an excuse to cover up the game 1 flop.

Idk if youre referring to the actual players or the Sharks fans in this thread, but if you're referring to the latter you are way off the mark. The diving is mentioned, but not once does anyone actually say "oh we would have won but refs and diving blah blah" so I don't know where these perceived excuses are coming from.

So there are conflicting reports that Atlanta to Winnipeg is done. It still hasn't been 100% confirmed, but apparently it's suppose to be announced Tuesday.

Edit: No wonder Eager loved going to the box!

From what I've heard and can tell, it's almost certainly going to go through, they're just messing with minor discrepancies.

I'm really excited about this though.

So what division does Winnipeg go to if Atlanta moves? I assume they wouldn't stay in the Southeast? Maybe they would swap with Philadelphia?

I think I heard something like Detroit would go to the Eastern Conference, Colorado would go to the Central Division, and Winnipeg would play in the Northwest.

I usually hear stuff like that too, basically every Winnipeg getting a team scenario I've heard involves Detroit to East.

It'd be kind of bizarre after building rivalries with San Jose the past several years and obviously the longer standing one with Colorado and the much-longer-even-than-that rivalry with Chicago, but it'd certainly make sense for travel. Detroit and Columbus currently travel more than any other teams in the NHL by a pretty hefty margin, which is exacerbated by them being the only two EST teams in their conference... life would be easier for both of them in the East.

Winnipeg really needs to be in the NW or they'd have much the same problem... seems like that's basically the only scenario that works. Of course, moving Columbus would have most of the same benefits as moving Detroit without breaking up any rivalries...

I remember they covered the division thing on HNIC, but I obviously fail because I can't remember exactly which division Winnipeg was in. All I remember was that Winnipeg would move to some division temporarily for the coming season, and then they would have Detroit come to the East (I never knew they were continually requesting this) and some other team to the West.

The only move that would make sense is sending Columbus to the East. There is no way in fucking hell the NHL is better off by taking the Wings out of that division.

As a fan of Charazard and the Bruins, I just wanted to say....thank god Detroit is out of the playoffs. After watching the B's for most of the season I'm pretty sure that the Red Wings are the only team they'd lose to in a 7-game series. The Sharks aren't fast or physical enough to open the B's defense, and the Canucks play a similar style but Luongo is porous and inconsistent in the playoffs at best. As long as the Bruins can maneuver around Tampa's 1-3-1 as they have for the last two games I'm pretty sure they have it. I'm still holding my breath though, after watching last year and the first series of this year's playoffs.

My prediction is B's over Canucks in 6 games, mostly because the B's play way better on the road.

The division realignment is supposed to be, according to the nhl official that evaded my memory, Moose in the Northwest, Wild in the Central, Preds in the southeast.

Wow.. hell of a game. First complete game I've actually seen this season.. and i'm glad it's this one.
