The Everything NHL Thread

Yeah that is pretty much why the IIHL Worlds Championship is a joke. Besides, not only players that are still in the NHL playoffs not play, many in eliminated teams also prefer not to.

The 2010 Olympic rendez-vous will be the real deal however. I can't wait for it.

I'll agree here. The only people on that Canadian roster that will probably be on the 2010 roster would be St. Louis, Weber, Heatley, Doan and maybe Stamkos or Spezza (based on performances during the tourney). But based on the playoffs so far Canada's defense isn's a concrete thing by any means at all for next year, as everyone was all "Mike Green, Mike Green" but I don't feel safe after the way he lets Sid run around, unless you want to give him powerplay time only, but Weber, Bouwmeester, Niedermayer, Pronger, Souray, Boyle, etc. can all run the point on a powerplay well enough and are still solid on defense (more the most part IIRC).

Whoops I went on an anti-Mike Green rant again... ANYWAY Boston finally stepped up, now I'm just hoping with everything I've got that Vancouver will too. At least force a game seven boys!

The Swedes might have won it if they had all the Swedish Red Wings which is a lot (Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Franzen, Holmstrom, etc) and Lundqvist in net of course the other teams could have benefitted from playoff players but the Swedes would have had the biggest boost IMO

Sweden was also missing Sedin, Sedin, Sundin, Ohlund, and Edler

Heh, so it looks like every series is at 3-2 right now. Oh god please let the Canucks win this game. I can't believe how quickly we went from confident powerhouses to playing like we usually do in the playoffs.

all it takes is 5 minutes alone with the top two lines of chicago to realize you've been scored on 3 times and can't do much to stop them when they decide to try. Same thing happened to Calgary :(.

I'm really starting to pull for vancouver, despite me hating them very much. Their fans are so obnoxious out in Calgary though and if they win a cup we'll hear about it from here until the end of time, even if calgary wins every single cup from next year on.

One period to decide your fate, c'mon Canucks!

Good on Shane O'Brien, first goal all year. And you're right Mormoopid, any fucking time any of the top two (maybe even three with Buff and Versteeg) lines are on the ice, I can just feel that something bad could happen at any moment. God dammit.

</3

Although there's lots more room on the bandwagon. Like 50 people on my facebook set there status as "what a failure" and "what a surprise they choke again, fail" where as when they won the St. Louis series it was "YEAH! All the way baby!"

But such is life. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep.

Luongo has looked injured for the last 2 games anyway. Great game by Sundin though, what a monster. Glad he went out with a bang.

This is not who's playing next round neccesarily obviously but this is what I'm thinking...

Carolina vs Pittsburgh- Pens in 6.
Chicago vs Detroit- Red Wings in 5. Too dominant.

So sadly I think we will see a rematch of last years Stanley Cup =/.

i was dead tired last night so i'm really mad that i missed the kane/toews show last night but the caps/pens ot thriller was amazing. just need the wings to close out the ducks tonight to conserve energy for the hawks. i'm expecting another two good games tonight.. boston should show up and make it interesting and i'm hoping the wings dominate again (which is extremely entertaining for me) with getzlaf being sick. what a good playoffs this has been so far.

also, i'm really rusty in nhl09 but i can play again

Patrick Roy interested in being Montreal's Head coach, lol.
He could do it, I know he was coaching a few guys I played with in the QMJHL for the past couple seasons for the Remparts. Who knows.

Go Hawks though, I'll probably have a blackhawks flag flying outside of my balcony window later this week. Also if it is Hawks/Wings I am going to go to at least one of the games, and then if the Hawks make the finals ill hit up one more game at the united center.

I don't think Montreal would hire Roy.

He is much more likely to end up coaching the Avalanche. He is a big friend of the GM over there.

Montreal will almost certainly be coached by one of those three : Bob Hartley, Marc Crawford or Larry Robinson. They are looking for a coach with experience this time.

Yeah you never know, though he has been pretty successful with the Remparts so I wouldnt be surprised if he showed up on an NHL team soon.

Hmm, predictions on game 7 of pens and caps?

Hoping Caps take it. It's not that I don't like Pens, I just like the Caps. Been following Ovechkin right after he got drafted.

Also, any new prospect that might take the wings? Jonathan Tavares and Cody Hodgson comes to mind. Although I think Hodgson will play alot better than Tavares next year.

Tavares will be just fine and if he plays like he can, he'll be rookie of the year. The Capitals have as good a chance as the Pens at winning, and I hope they do because I really dislike Sidney Crosby and the rest of the lolguins.

Didn't Colorado fire their GM? lol
