three game 7's over the next two days. yesssssssssssssssss
well datsyuk fought because he took a cheap neidermayer elbow to the head which can be seen here at the 1:36 mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oj8av0dVCXU
which is really how the whole thing started to begin with... datsyuk had that awesome shot at the end of the period and hiller made a brilliant blocker save.. while this is going on i think hossa got hooked and threw his arms up a bit and took an elbow to his face from i dunno who.. i think getzlaf. essentially, the ducks took some liberties at the end of the game and detroit had to respond, you can't let a team get away with that and walk all over you. this wasn't limited to the end of the game either, there were a couple of occasions where neidermayer was taking some shots at holmstrom to the extent that he should have been penalized. i know sometimes when a player is screening, the d-man and the screener will take some jabs at each other which is fine. but when you're crumpled to the ice like holmstrom was at one point in the game, there's no excuse for 3 or 4 extra cross checks to the head.
i'm pretty annoyed by this whole series now. the cheap shots were to be expected, but the officiating has been poor as a whole and these bogus quick whistles that hiller gets have already cost the wings a game potentially. i'm pretty convinced that it's the black uniforms the ducks wear that causes all these quick freeze whistles. there's a specific instance i can think of in game 6.. it's 4 on 4 play and a shot into the pads of hiller and a whistle is blown.. except that the puck is a foot out in front of hiller when play stops. this has happened a few times now, and obviously the game 3 hossa tying goal is the biggie. i'm sounding like a complete red wings fan boy right now with this nonsensical rant but last nights ending sent me to bed quite angry.. and not because detroit lost.

Sometimes I wish I planned on going with hockey past college and ended up playing against the ducks, id get suspended for life in game 1 for two handing pronger in the face, then running getzlaf into the goalie and then maybe putting my stick down perrys throat. It'd be a hell of a game to watch though. Alternatively I would go goon Crosby and be done too.
Oh wow, I'm thinking you played up to a decent level. DId you play for a NCAA team or a minor league team like the WHL? If yes, did you play with any other majour NHL players while they were in their minor leagues?

I have played with or against many many players that have been drafted or are playing NCAA d1, or are in the NHL. I played in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, CA for a year and then went to school where I play d3 now.

Yay Pens. I really didn't except for the fact that it really helps me in my pool and now all I need is an Anaheim loss for me to have a good shot at winning :)
I'm glad I had a final and couldn't watch the Pens-Caps game, that looked like it was ugly. Carl I agree 100% with you about the Wings and Ducks. The NHL pretty much hates Holmstrom. I swear they call goalie interference on him way tighter than the rest of the league. Rafalski was down on his knees taking punch after punch. Hossa took the hook and a suckerpunch and I wish he would have had the chance to rock Getzlaf. but yeah like you said it's expected from the Ducks. The Anaheim GM basically rounded up all the cheap douchebags in the NHL and stuck them on one team. The officiating has been incredibly inconsistant. The early whistles are absolutely rediculous, I've seen three including the one that basically cost the Wings game 3. Not to mention that Osgood got rocked in game 4 while the refs were trying not to repeat their mistake. I don't get how it's been so bad it has to have been different crews throughout right.
Anyway Detroit needs to get some production out of their power play again. That's what wins them a lot of games and it hasn't really been non-existant the last few. Even so I really think the Wings will take game 7, and hopefully I'm don't think that just because of bias too. The advantage they've had all series in shots, the fact that they're at home and have Rafalski back I don't see them losing. Plus Datsyuk is bound to score he's been playing well just not able to finish, I don't think that will be the case next game.
About Crosby, I want to like him but I really can't. The love that the NHL and commentators give him is amazing. While a lot of it is justified, he's damn good, I just can't take it. Plus he's a crybaby and a cheapshotter. If he grows up and stops recieving unconditional love, I will like him, but until then I don't think so.
