The Everything NHL Thread

i think this works for everyone but you gr33n...sorry :( Im willing to draft with 11 of the people there

i definitely want to do this before the season actually starts.

also if more than one person is opposed to the max 5 moves per week clause I will take it out.

Make that 10, unless I either find a public computer at 10:30PM or Yahoo! Tech Support decides to give me more than "Make sure you are connected to the internet, and that you have Macromedia Flash."

Hmmm...I suppose I could try to find someone willing to use up 2 hours of their time to draft...

I'm opposed to a move limit, why is there a need for it if no one is streaming? Seems kind of dumb to me.

Streaming is definitely cheap.

I'm OK with it being a gentleman's rule if people don't want the limit but I think if so it should be accepted under the assumption that if someone is streaming Jackai Bettman will step in and take action.

and i DONT mean one of those pussy 1 game suspensions

I'll try to wake up :p If i dont get the job (and those chances are really high anyway considering past interviews) I blame you though Jackal.

I will draft really shit though, seeing I'm tired and will probably draft people like Havlat again.

lol my IRL friends actually got really mad at me when they realized I was streaming, I was kicking everyone's ass.

you should definitely put in some sort of streaming rule or else I will abuse it

Streaming is definitely cheap seeing as vineon managed to beat teams with actually good players via his roster of 30ish per week. Granted with Vineon it was acceptable because he had such a small amount to choose from but as far as it goes, I would like the league to be as close to real life GMing as possible. You dont see Ken Holland dropping cleary, adding whoever, then dropping them, adding someone else etc.

In other news, the Thrashers got Schneider for Klee and Painchaud.
Also Elias is looking to be a decent player this year what with a decent pre-season game today. 2g, 1a, and his, I would assume, line mates Gionta (1g 2a and Rolston (2a) so the Devs are looking solid this year

tbh the devils will always make the playoffs as long as brodeur is in net the scoring only affects what seed and how far they go

We'll see, but Elias always proves to be very inconsistent.

I'm pretty leery about going on preseason success too much in the draft, lots of players having multipoint games left and right but when you think about how many teams aren't using anything resembling their top 12 forwards/6 D or even their NHL team's goalies I'm not sure how much it means - a lot of players I have positive feelings about are doing well in the preseason this year though so hopefully it carries over though!

Um, what?

I hear what seed you get and how far you go are kinda important

So our stats for our NHL09 Team Smogon:

Stat spread is Games Played, Goals, Assists, Points, Hits and PIM
Kaleb Grapp... 28 27 19 46 257 37
Scott Glaza ...62 9 41 50 343 79
Carl Carlson... 50 34 20 54 233 22
Paul Hornak... 59 27 17 44 1023 219

See you all tomorrow night for the fantasy draft!

So the fantasy league is looking to be some fun competition. I am interested to see how some of the late round picks will produce, especially in the form of those who were on my list but I couldnt get a crack at.

Seabrook and Keith I think will be D partners and probably solid 13/14round picks as well as Mueller and Coburn from a few rounds earlier...

Spacek, Horcoff, Gionta andCole are some of my hopeful late rounders.

Couldn't access the Yahoo server, but I'm pretty happy with my team. Disappointed I missed out on the goalie rush, but other than that, I think I did well. Marleau, Carcillo, and [SIZE=-1]Byfuglien are all very solid pick-ups, imo.

(Speaking of which, who is Dutch Canadians? You'll need to up the ante quite a bit...)

I need a new center now that Esposito didn't make the team (although he may be brought up later). Who should I pick up?
  • Mike Comrie
  • Joe Pavalski
  • David Legwand
  • Tim Connolly
  • Stephen Weiss
  • Matthew Lombardi
  • Eric Perrin
  • Erik Christensen (Apparently people like him with Kovalchuk)
  • Bryan Little (Read above)

Maxim Afinogenov, Aldaron's last pick and the last pick of the draft.

Best sleeper pick. Kid is healthy and playing (at least for these preseason games) on Buffalo's top line wit Vanek and Roy.

He was a point per game guy for two seasons before getting injured and "fat" (his words) last year, so I am basically getting a guy with 80 point potential with the last pick of the draft ~_~

Yea, I'm winning this year. You guys can fight valiantly for second.
