I jumped the gun on him last year but this year I'm confident will be his breakout.
 
Leafs sign Clarke MacArthur and trade for Matt Lashoff (traded away Stefano Giliati, I liked him), Nikolai Khabibulin is a drunk driver, and there seems to be yet another New Jersey Devils-Ilya Kovalchuk contract.
 
I laughed when I read a title that said that Ilya gave the NHL an ultimatum.

I really don't think they'd care if he left for the KHL.
 
They wouldn't, which I think isn't a very good sign. Very, very few offensive players of his calibur in the league, and since in theory they want as much offense as possible in the league... I will never understand the NHL brass.
 
Niemi is a Shark now. He'll be competing with Niitymaki for the #1 job it seems so that should prove interesting for our fantasy league.
 
NHL issues an ultimatum to the NHLPA: We'll grandfather the current contracts if we can change the CBA.

Shits gonna go down. I'm wondering how Luongo's and Hossa's contracts are going to be affected. And if Kovalchuk's will be accepted at all.

eyeballing it looks like:

Draft: Standard (if we do this every year I agree with WER that after this year draft order should be reverse order of standings, to compensate for better teams theoretically having better keepers. only he commented on it so far though)

Division: most in favor but split on how they're formed currently
Max Aqusition: 50
Max/Week: 5 is most popular choice, average is closer to 4
Stats: G A Hits PPP SOG W GAA SV% all pretty unanimous, most in favor of a 6th skater stat where +/- is most popular by far
Draft Time: good fuckin luck

I just wanted to post that I'm really against +/- and would rather have Hits and PIM over +/-..but PIM is also really stupid. If you guys are against goalies having more than 2:1 stats then maybe we should take away wins and just do GAA/S% and do away with +/-... By removing +/- and Wins, it completely removes the team factor from the stats. There are plenty of good goalies who get robbed of wins by being on horrible teams (And some of them even get robbed of their ears) and plenty of good players that have a bad +/- because they are on horrible teams. Maybe something like G A H PPP / GAA S%

Also, if we do an Auction + Keeper, what stops somebody from massively overpaying to get Ovechkin/Crosby/Stamkos or something like that? They could probably even still be pretty competitive in the first year because a bunch of solid players are still available for $1-$2 and goalies end up going really cheap. I got Ward and Rinne for $4 each.
 
We should probably move all of the fantasy talk out of this thread and start creating new threads. All the other sports have multiple threads, so I'm not sure why we cram so much in this one.
