The Everything NHL Thread

How does having too many prospects give Columbus priority? Wouldn't being able to play with actually talented players be better for Yakupov than having to play in the graveyard of Russian forwards that is the Blue Jackets? see: Zherdev, Nikolai; Filatov, Nikita. Honestly the Oiler situation is no worse than the Nordiques around 1990ish and the Penguins around 2005ish, many people (especially Flames fans) are just jealous that their franchise is on a downhill slope with no light at the end of the tunnel.

Edmonton has way too many prospects atm to get priority in Yakupov over Columbus. Also hoping Montreal can get a decent pick in this years draft and be able to sign Price and Subban. Both of those guys are playing at MTL for cheap. Oh yeah, and Gomez sucks. -,-

At this rate Montreal will most likely get a high draft pick... Montreal will obviously sign both Price and Subban as well. Thats not even up for debate...

Loved this line from SI.com's recent power rankings:

"The Habs can't afford to go another year with Gomez (two goals, 11 points) gomezing through the motions like this."

"Gomezing" needs to be made a new verb. That's just outstanding.

Radulov allowed back into the NHL without re-entry waivers and can participate in the playoffs. Not sure how he'll adjust to the NHL, but if he plays like the way he did with the KHL, he'll be a great asset to Nashville.

Don't count on Crosby tearing it up after all these potential career ending injuries. It's a shame, but I think he is going to go the way of the Lindros.

^Really? I've been getting the notion that they're playing the long game with Crosby. They're more than happy to let Malkin lead the team for a season while Crosby gets healthy again. When it got to the 60 game mark this season without a peep I gave up hope on seeing him in a dominant role this year. The hit on Crosby wasn't even that hard, its surprising to see Lindros comparisons already...especially when they can't seem to decide if it's a concussion or a neck injury

And of course as soon as I make a post describing how the Bruins recent record isn't indicative of their play, their whole team immediately comes out playing like the New York Knicks. Sluggish, no defensive commitment, expecting someone else to make plays on offense. Most importantly, they actually seem to be effected by calls not going their way...like when they get a goal disallowed for bullshit reasons (someone in Toronto needs to get fired), theyll turn that into negative momentum by giving the other team goals in return. These are problems that throwing a couple of punches won't fix. Two games in a row now theyve pulled their goalie after giving up 3 in the 1st. There's still plenty of time before the playoffs, but god DAMN these defensive injuries are starting to sting. Even the deepest team in the league is vulnerable to the injury bug. But even without the injuries, the players on the ice can't play like a bunch of pussies and expect to win. They don't have the talent at the top to coast on when they have a low compete level. Tonight's first period was fucking pathetic and they're playing like a bunch of bitches so far.

Crosby coming back. Not sure if excited because the Pens are already playing extremely well without him. Next 3 games will sure be a test, at Rangers, at NJ, at Philly.

Damn that Tyler Myers. His hit on Scott Gomez should have deserved a game misconduct. Instead, he only gets a 2 minute penalty. And he stays in the game. And you know what? He scores the game-winner in OT. How disappointing. I'm glad he got that 3 game suspension. Anyways, I hope the Hybrid Icing will be implemented, as it would reduce injuries.

He had 12 points in 8 games when he returned for that brief stretch and he wasn't even truly 100%. I'm no expert on what Crosby has experienced over the last year nor do I know a lot about concussions but I will say this..

First, the neck thing was apparently the root cause for why he struggled for so long with concussion symptoms and that was only brought to light after he was knocked out of play this past December. Tough to recover from any injury, let alone an injury to the central nervous system I'm sure, when you're not even treating the cause of the ailment. If they really fixed the issue this time, I see no reason why he wouldn't be back to normal, even in his first game. He's been practicing for weeks now.

Second, Crosby, love him or hate him, is a smart person and player. He's the best in the world at what he does. He knows it, his agent knows it and the Penguins organization knows it. Do you really think they would collaboratively agree to let him come back if he wasn't truly ready this time around? They already had that scare once this season. He's an extremely valuable asset and he loves to play the game. He definitely wouldn't want to prematurely rush back. Hockey is a dangerous sport, that's a given, but that's also a risk any player takes when he steps onto the ice. I'm not implying he'll avoid injury forever but if he's really back to 100% then I see no reason why we would see a repeat of his first mini comeback.

Again, I'm no expert but if he's healthy, then he's healthy. Expect the same old Sid.

I'm not trying to justify the hit in any way, but notice in the video that Myers got blatantly high-sticked right before that and it didn't get called, so he was pissed. He's not a dirty player, if anything he's the biggest pussy inch-for-inch I've ever seen, he just made a really poor decision. I hate how the injury somehow makes the hit worse, because it probably only should've been 2 games. Now we lose our biggest and only right-handed d-man for two games while chasing a playoff spot, so don't worry, we won last night but the damage will be done.

The streak killers. I'm surprised they didn't put Lehtonen in to carry (KARI!hurr) their streak even higher, Bachman struggled a bit, though he's usually pretty solid. Eriksson honestly gets better every game.

I'm happy that the Jets won, even against my "other team". The Jets needed it way more, and Washington is coming right up.

Gotta like that reaction after scoring. It's nice to see Erik Cole is still having fun despite Montreal's horrible season. We're still 11 points out of a playoff spot, lol.

rofl at those gifs, especially Justin's

all it does is make me think of how I get to watch Li'l Gerbe and Li'l Ennis get shoved around like ragdolls for 45 minutes every game

The habs are gonna loser point themselves out of a top draft pick

whoa hold on, don't you dare talk shit about Nathan "Motherfucking" Gerbe

I love Gerbs, but he was out last night with the dreaded "upper-body injury" :chaos:

I saw him during warmups so I'm sure it's not too serious, but it still blows

Crosby back tonight. Here's hoping he makes up for lost time cause I picked him as my 3rd pick in my fantasy league hoping he'd do some damage but clearly that didn't happen. Sum bs.

Also, wtf are the canucks doing lately, please stop losing to teams like Montreal and coughing up 2 goal leads. Hopefully they get this out of their system before the playoffs. It is also looking likely that a 1st round Chicago matchup could happen...oh joy.
