Big Landeskog

gr33n's fantasy team is so gay with ovie / crosby / weber / landeskog lmao

fkin dutch

Also it's kinda sad how someone's all time team could also be very close to the glass cannon / injured alot team...Bobby Orr (knees), Mike Bossy (back), Mario Lemieux (heart and cancer i believe?), Pat Lafontaine (concussions)...very sad actually...

Orr, Bossy, and Lemieux do not belong to a glass cannon team while Lafontaine does. Im not sure whats sad about that.

Not surprised at Landeskog being named Captain. Looking at their roster there isnt really a ton of choices other than him.

Bossy and Lemieux both had their careers cut short by injuries. Bossy still scored 500+ goals, but he was still putting up 50 a year until his final season, and if not for the back problems he easily would've crack 700 or even 800. Lemieux was just frigging dominant, and don't forget he retired, took a couple years, came back and was playing at a PPG clip but re-retired because of his own back.

Depends on what your definition of a glass player is. For me its when injuries prevent a player from reaching his potential or greatness. A "What could have been" label is more accurate. Orr is considered what the 2nd best player ever? Lemieux is in the 3-5 range and Bossy somewhere between 10-15. So if they stayed healthy does their place in hockey history change? I dont think so. We were still able to witness their greatness anyways. Bossy played 10 straight seasons and 752 out of 800 games (94%). Orr played 9 straight seasons 621 out of 686 games (91%). Their careers were cut short but they werent interrupted.

Compare this to Bure and Neely who missed pretty much half and full seasons. Lindros and Forsberg missing good parts of seasons. Kariya and Roenick looking like first ballot Hall of Fame locks before suffering a serious injury.

I'd say if you have Lemieux in the 3rd to 5th range, that is probably because his injuries/cancer made it so. So yeah, it did seem to affect their place in hockey history.

In my opinion, 3rd is lowest Mario Lemieux should be on any list. I would have loved to see Gretzky attempt a comeback after a 3 years retirement and serious health issues and put on nearly 2 points a game (and nearly a goal a game) in the dead puck era.

I'd have him as the best player ever personally, but I can live with people putting Gretzky and/or Orr above him. No other player should ever be.

I am not sure where you get your definition of glass players, but a glass player is generally defined as a player, regardless of "skill", who is plagued throughout his career (or thought to be) with injuries or an injury (usually the first time to a serious degree) that ends his career; Orr's knee problems and Lemieux's general health issues are prevalent and definitely do define them as glass players. Same with Bossy (back issues after only 10 seasons at the age of 30?) and Lafontaine. Dealing with projections and "ceiling" in calculating whether a person is a glass player or not is partly speculation and isn't based on a very good way to actually determine whether he is or not.

Its hilarious how many last minute extensions are being given out.

The players should just fucking sign the owners' proposal so we can start the season.

Malkin + Gonchar and Kovy signing in Russia? I've also heard that Malkin is trying to get Crosby to sign too. If Malkin OR Crosby (never mind both) play in any other league they will set huge records.

Man, fuck the owners. Instead of trying to make more money they just want to give themselves a bigger cut because they're all a bunch of conceited fucks who think they're more important than the people actually playing the game.

I hate this planet.
