That playcalling was atrocious, sure, but how the fuck does a 2 time Super Bowl-winning quarterback throw that ball away in that situation?!?!?!? A sack in that situation is no worse than getting stuffed for a loss if they had chosen to run the ball and a field goal with ~a minute left on the clock would have iced it. This isn't hindsight; it's common sense. Eli is a joke.

The Cowboys have nothing to be proud of, they played like shit all game and are going nowhere this year if they play like that consistently. Their defense folded in crunchtime and couldn't get a stop when they needed to.

The Manning brothers combined for 44/76 for 368 and no touchdowns. What an awful, awful day in football. There were only 4 300+ passers this week and that's terrible for the league. I've always been able to handle losses if the qb is able to at least drop a crapload of yards. But even in a loss the Giants offense looked terrible. Hopefully this isn't a year where the NFL passing leader only drops 4700 yards.

The Giants lost because they were unable to pressure Romo or literally do much on defense. I still have hopes that JPP will be able to comeback and play at his level. The offense will get better once Cruz gets back so the season isn't over just yet.

The Broncos look like the best team so far, from the first week at least. I've been hyping the Ravens as a 12-4 team(which even i feel sad that suggs is out for the year) and the Broncos defense managed to beat them by themselves. Hopefully Peyton starts dropping 400 yard games(he will) but if this defense keeps playing at this level, the Broncos will be hard to stop. Teams haven't been able to run on them for years, but the secondary looks scary good, even better than last year. And i'm saying this because the Ravens are not pushovers and will look fantastic next week when they're not facing such a ridiculous defense.

some hero the Giants lost because a quarterback who's been in the league for eleven goddamned years still can't figure out what the hell clock management is. You'd think after years of playing against D-Ware (and also the golden days of Strahan-Umenyiora-Tuck in practices) he would know how to take a sack.

Romo looked great, I'm glad whichever auto-parts store services Peyton's neck isn't the one working on Romo's back. Cowboys wideouts need to up their game, and of course the D always has room for improvement.

the cowboys dominated the giants all game, it was our own mistakes that cost us. if it hadn't been for the two tipped passes that became romo interceptions, the giants would have 10 less points. holding them down at the goal line to a FG after the 2nd interception was so crucial. of course, it helped us a lot that the giants had terrible play calling at the end of the game, but either way, you've got to give credit to romo for that beautiful game winning drive (without dez)...

did you actually watch the game?
Y'all played us hard, but as the game went on you kinda faded away. You can definitely take away some positives, tho.

As for Carolina, offensively there's an obvious lack of explosiveness, but we basically look like last year, rely on defense to bend but not break and get points however you can on offense. Bottom line, still a lot of question marks. We'll see how it goes the next few weeks, but this game didn't really impress me much. Also need to keep an eye on Luke Kuechly's health.

I'm sure the Colts will fare better against the Jets..right? I mean, it's the fucking Jets...who also have a top 5 Defense...as did the Bills...and Andrew Luck's receivers didn't cooperate much...and neither did costly holding penalties... yeah I got nothing.. so much for all that hype :(
Another 11-5 season and another exit in the playoffs I guess.
But in all seriousness, that game made me want to throw my fucking TV out the window.

Yeah, and the Jags looked horrendous. Bortles threw for like 5.8 ypa.
i just typed out a big long reply but decided just to say: at times, yeah. at other times, they looked pretty good.

a couple blown calls and a couple of caught passes and it's a completely different game.

that terrible pick6 really broke their back. T_T

That was last year in summary for the Jags. We played almost everybody hard, but we faded away or made mistakes as the game progressed and we eventually fell behind due to missed opportunities and an inability to overcome mistakes. Same as always.

I said it before and I'll say it again - The Jets have a lot of potential this year. Good defense is finally healthy, and the offense has weapons. Fitzpatrick is not bad at all, and with weapons like Marshall and Decker, as well as Ivory, who is actually pretty good in an offense that doesn't use him as their crutch, this team could surprise a lot of teams. Fitzpatrick has his OC from Buffalo, and was moderately productive in buffalo while having a hampered offense consisting of receivers Stevie Johnson and who else? Lee Evans? Yeah, Fitz is gonna be decent this year. And really, Marshall + Decker is a great duo. The Jets are easily a >.500 team after what I saw week one, and on paper, it makes sense.

The Colts draft poorly, make huge whiffs in free agency and then sign really old guys to play major roles (they are the oldest team in the NFL) which almost never works.

They have almost no depth on their roster and rely on Andrew Luck to win every single game for them.

They're extremely average outside of the AFC south (which is the worst division in the NFL by far) and only make the playoffs because they play in it.

Their GM is one of the worst in football and is only employed because he woke up on Thursday, April 26th 2012 and drafted Andrew Luck. They only had the number 1 pick because they tanked and purposely lost games in 2011 (#integrity.) Their coach is in all likelihood getting fired going 11-5 three straight years because their owner is a meddlesome joke.

Keep in mind that the Colts roster is this bad while Andrew Luck is on his rookie contract

Imagine how bad they'll look when they have to pay him 25 million a year.

Also they lose to the Patriots by an average of 47-18.

For the life of me, I can't understand why people hype them up so much. Just look past Andrew Luck and you'll see all the holes they have.

Irsay is a pretty bad GM but he made the tough decision to take Luck over keeping Manning. Controversial move at the time but it paid off heavily. But what I don't understand why they don't try to improve on defense. All of these are fair points but allow me to make a counterpoint here:
They're extremely average outside of the AFC south (which is the worst division in the NFL by far) and only make the playoffs because they play in it. (If they're that average outside of the AFC South, how have the Colts maintained a winning record 3 straight years? Our only losses came from other playoff teams except for Philadelphia ,who choked to Washington hence exiting the WC race. Denver, Pittsburgh, New England, and Dallas all have top offenses that torched our crummy D. But you know how good Andrew Luck is by watching film from watching the remaining 11 games and by the fact that he led the NFL in passing TDs and was 3rd for the most passing yards)

They only had the number 1 pick because they tanked and purposely lost games in 2011 (#integrity.)
Keep in mind that the Colts roster is this bad while Andrew Luck is on his rookie contract(If you watched any Colts game from the 2011 season you'd know how shitty their backup QBs were and how god awful they were that year...)

Imagine how bad they'll look when they have to pay him 25 million a year.(Aaron Rodgers makes more money but Green Bay is still a contending team...)

Also they lose to the Patriots by an average of 47-18.(I'll give you this one...goddammit. Just don't take us lightly. Everyone in the NFL should know that our offense will be dominant against most teams. Even though the Pats kick our ass, at least don't call us wimps because of it.)

Except Irsay isn't your GM?? Grigson is and he lucked into a generational QB like Andrew Luck thanks to how terrible the Colts were without Manning that one year or else he would have been gone a long time ago with really questionable draft choices (like really Dorsett when your mentality is to win now?, also Werner ended up being a bust). The Colts are a playoff caliber team, but they are not a team I would bank on winning the Super Bowl. I think people put the Colts as contenders just off the basis they made the AFC Championship Game and made some splashes in free agency by signing Gore and Andre Johnson, but looking at how they got there, they beat Andy Dalton (who's a joke in the playoffs and didn't have any of his top receiving options) and a run down Peyton Manning, then they got stomped by the Pats. They only really have one standout defensive player in Vontae Davis, and they can't generate a pass rush without Mathis, who's really old and should not be the one that the Colts need to rely on. A good defense is vital for a team to make a run at the Super Bowl, and the Colts have a very average one and need Luck to bail them out. When the offense stalls, the Colts fall apart (just like what happened against Buffalo).

I'd be scared if I was a patriots fan and had to play the colts in the playoffs. It's impossible to remain undefeated against a good team and the pats will lose to them eventually. Which is why I rather split with divisional rivals in case we play them in the playoffs. Winning 3 times against a team is HARD.

Eggs are a joke. Giants are the only good looking nfc east team.

Cowboys > Giants.

Luck's massive passing stats should be taken with a grain of salt due to his equally massive number of passing attempts; he was 3rd in the league in overall passing attempts. In yards/attempt, he's behind 10 other quarterbacks, which is still respectable, but not top 3. His TDs/attempt stat is better, placing him 4th behind Romo, Rodgers, and the elder Manning.

Here's the real interesting stat: Luck's ranking with regards to interceptions/attempt. From least to Luck, here's how that list looks when you eliminate everyone with less than 200 pass attempts:

Aaron Rodgers
Alex Smith
Carson Palmer
Ben Roethlisberger
Tom Brady
Russel Wilson
Matt Stafford
Derek Carr
Ryan Tannehill
Tony Romo
Drew Stanton
Colin Kaepernick
Peyton Manning
Joe Flacco
Matt Ryan
Kyle Orton
Eli Manning
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Drew Brees
Andrew Luck

For those keeping score at home, that's 19 quarterbacks ranking better than Andrew Luck in that regard.

I know stats aren't everything, but TBH I've never been sold on Luck being an "elite" quarterback. He's pretty good, yea, but he's not top tier. And hey, that's fine. Romo isn't top tier either.

Also I've never agreed with the notion that the Colts tanked to get Luck. They really were that terrible.

Giants are the only good looking nfc east team.

lol

zzz no one cares about the falcons zzz

We're unto the Vikes/49ers. You had your 15 minutes.

This game is boring and probably the toilet bowl of the week. Sure, toilet bowl mainstays Jags, Titans, Bucs and Raiders all had unwatchable garbage(like they do every week) but this game is annoying because the commentators won't shut up about Hayne.

Also, why the hell are the vikes pretending that they have a qb? Stop trying to be cute with passing attempts and give peterson the ball. The team is a mess though so who cares.

Half the stuff Niners have done looks great (triple TEs is working nicely and Hyde is stepping up to fill Gore's shoes in carrying the team), but the other half makes me want to bang my head on a table repeatedly (dropped punt return, the inane penalties and other judgment lapses, etc).

But that is with a grain of salt, the Vikings aren't exactly stellar competition.

Excited. Matt Ryan was pretty average tonight, OLine was put together in a week, and they still pulled off the victory. Probably our toughest test for a while.

Defense looks promising. Will be better when Brooks Reed returns and they don't have to give Kroy Biermann snaps on anything besides special teams. Also no one will convince me that there is a better WR than Julio Jones.
