The Lunatics' Workshop is a teambuilding lab catered towards the building of creative off-meta (not unviable!) teams. We accept requests for any Pokemon so long as you can justify using it, which is especially important when dealing with unranked Pokemon. One thing to note is that we only accept single Pokemon for simplicity, but you can recommend partners in your description post. Please read the rules before posting.
  • Have a one paragraph description of the set you want us to build around, how it is meant to perform, and a slight idea of what kind of team you want the end result to be. Also, have the set you want us to use in your post. We reserve the right to edit the set without prior notice, but these will never be major edits unless we reach out to you first. Please only post one set.
  • Do post asking us to make use of unviable Pokemon. We are lunatics. However, there is a limit; you must be able to justify the use of the Pokemon (i.e. its role), which will help us out a lot especially if we have to edit the set.
  • Please note that we can choose to ignore requests for extremely generic Pokemon as well as ones that have already been built around before. A list of past Pokemon will be included below for your reference - please do not post duplicates. If you insist, PM your favorite builder instead.
  • Do not flame people for asking for a certain Pokemon or that they can't build one themselves. Be polite. Also, I know our old thread was full of memes and unrelated posts, but please try to keep those to a minimum this time.
  • Each user is allowed one request per week, and any user found requesting multiple will have their post deleted.
  • Please remember that these teams are first drafts and as such will not be perfect. Edit them as you please.
  • You are free (and highly encouraged) to suggest and post changes / critiques to already posted teams that you feel improve them.
  • However, you are not allowed to post your own teams here to have us modify them. We're here to build teams, not modify older ones. If you want your own teams critiqued and modified, post them in the RMT forum, not here.
  • You are not permitted to edit your post after 24 hours. This is because there is a high chance of it being already underway, and thus any significant changes will make it harder for us to continue. Obviously you can still make small typo fixes and add words but please use discretion and do not edit the set.
  • If you wish to join us as a builder, please PM any host and we will get in touch shortly.

WE'RE BACK BABY!!!!!!

bulu loves you!!!! (Tapu Bulu) @ Rockium Z
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- High Horsepower
- Stone Edge
- Horn Leech

I built a team with this like week 1 of new dlc but i want to see someone else's take on it, does really well into all the hamu/mola/bird stuff, speed evs are for defensive zap and rest are in attack and hp

:zapdos-galar:
Zapdos-Galar @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Close Combat / Thunderous Kick
- Brave Bird
- Substitute / Taunt

Fighting type that doesn't fold into either Landorus-T or Alomomola? Good wallbreaker? Works well on hazard stack, screens HO and webs HO? I know it sucks versus Gholdengo and Zapdos but notice how it's just that...

Requesting Mega Gard. Been a fan of this line for ages and looking for a better take on building around it. Also am considering taunt instead of calm mind just to avoid status/hazard from a fair amount of the meta mon.

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire
- Calm Mind

This surely is BIG DRAMP'S time to shine.

Drampa @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Roost
- Hyper Voice
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower

Bro turbo walls zard y not carrying focus blast, makes rain sad, and reliable recovery via roost. Idk what his set should be, but the anti weather tech surely has sauce.

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability:Sturdy
EVs:252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Impish Nature
-Avalanch
-Toxic
-Heavy Slam
-Earthquake

Mega Aggron has one of the best bulks, having great psysical defence, good special defence after investment,ok hp and a good defencive type of steel after mega.Mega aggron,in my opinion,is crazy paired with a wall setter. My favorite wall setter to pair with Meg aggron is Grimmsnarl.I use avalanch but you can very well switch it with stealth rocks.Mega Aggron is used best in my opinion to tank the damage and deal damage over time with toxic and heavy slam, earthquake being used to remove the scary stuff like electric and fire types.

kindly requesting the following;

:urshifu-rapid-strike:
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Protective Pads
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Trailblaze
- Swords Dance
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat

if I'm being honest I wanna run some cheap dishonest teams every now and then and it doesn't get more dishonest than running shifu.
with such a steel dominant tier as well as the likes of mega charizard y and victini keeping them in check, shifu being able to outspeed and not get locked into moves allows it to steamroll quickly with the boosts from swords dance and trailblaze.
this coupled with the fact many teams rely on turtle and tusk as hazard control (mons which shifu absolutely demolishes) hazard stack is a pretty good team style to run this on

i know this might not be the most lunatic/ unviable pokémon to run but hopefully it's insane enough to meet the criteria

Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 136 HP / 132 Atk / 240 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Return/Facade
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake

I feel like now might be malt's time to shine, it's typing is excellent, meaning it could care less about the Bolt/Tusk/Zardy cores that are going on right now. These EVs allow it to outspeed pult after one DD, HP EVs are so Weather Ball 3HKOs w/o rocks. Facade can be really funny if you get burned or toxiced. It thuds into every steel type that is neutral or immune to earthquake though so be sure to include something that can patch it's weaknesses
someone already requested the same set (with marginally different EVs), if you'd like to change that would be ok

kindly requesting the following;

:urshifu-rapid-strike:
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Protective Pads
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Swords Dance

unfortunately that's basically a standard set so i dont think it will get built

by the way bulu hands and malt are currently nearly done, the rest might take a bit longer due to Christmas being just about over, thanks for your patience everyone

Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

Heh. ive made… possibly the best team in ndou. Like ever.

TAPU BULU LIFE ORB KINGAMBIT OFFENSE BALANCE
:tapu-bulu: :kingambit: :toxapex: :great-tusk: :latias-mega: :gholdengo:
after seeing the lorb gterrain grass knot kgb calcs i knew i had to build smth similar
:tapu-bulu: main build, secondary pon check and bolt check, sets gterrain and stuff. really nice mon. evs are modified to outspeed 255 zapdos
:kingambit: lorb kgb is a beast, makes its sucker way stronger. sd was paired with it to burst through would be checks, also acts as a semi steel, pult check, etc
:toxapex: spdef pex is my goat. chary volc counter basically goobs everything that beats bulu
:great-tusk: also my goat. helps to check mlop dnite and stuff while setting rocks and spinning, ground and kgb check of team
:latias-mega: super underrated secondary chary check, 3a so we hit tusk and the fightings while goobing mtar and tran and kgb and hitting ferro and ghold
:gholdengo: scarf ghold lowkey cooks, just play with it carefully as it can easily get trapped. spread ohkos and outspeeds pult iirc trick recover bc its our main steel

I would like to request Choice Scarf Meowscarada

Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Flower Trick
- Triple Axel
- U-turn

Meow is by far my favorite revenge killer, and I feel much more confident about locking in to a move without tera around. It outspeeds Mega Swampert in the rain and booster speed valiant which I struggle facing so meow seems like an ideal choice, I just don't know enough about the tier yet to figure out what supporting mons it needs. Feel free to edit the moves as much or as little as you see fit, I've considered Low Kick for all the steel types in the tier and I've also considered trick for disruption, although that moves feels a bit worse with Z moves around. Thanks in advance!

OZEBA (Iron Hands) @ Leftovers
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 248 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Wild Charge

Absolute Goat on Gterrain if u ask me but I'm bad at building in General xdxd

Hey kinak your team is ready
Initially I made gterrain as requested but then i saw this made by Ineros for teamcomp: :terapagos-terastal::iron-hands::rillaboom::gholdengo::alomomola::garchomp:
So I knew I had to do something different. I noticed hands threatens pretty much every relevant fogger and spinner with few exceptions (tusk) so I wanted a spiker... but I realised that hands is (almost) as threatening with one spike as with three, so instead of hisamu or something defensive like skarm or ferro, I went with Spikes SD Ogerpon-W. Here we are:
:iron-hands::kingambit::ogerpon-wellspring::dragonite::gholdengo::great-tusk:
It only looks normal until you click...
ill get to dnite in a bit
:iron-hands: be polite
With just one spike up, this guy becomes a monster. Tanks anything from the physical end, SDs up on defog turns, generally clicks buttons against basically any type of team except stall. Takes like half from even garchomp earthquake and murders back with ice punch its actually so insane
This guy wreaks the most havoc on balance where it can set up most easily, but it almost always trades easily vs offense and can help vs dozoclod stall since ipunch 2hkoes clod (one of the weaker matchups ftr)
:kingambit: be efficient
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9nationaldex-2273606109-vkzwt0e83f7yp3xi34qgrvi8zxbhh0npw
Turn 6 tells you everything you need to know. (i went on to fumble the game to bb gren)
Generally plays the same way as you would play AV, pult check though it hates wisp and always lures lele and ghold who like to stay in and click fighting move and die (and i guess iron crown)
I never find myself clicking pursuit though, maybe put SD? also defiant rarely procs so maybe also swap it out for fury of the fallen
:ogerpon-wellspring: professionals have standards
Does ogerpon things except it clicks spikes whenever it gets a free turn instead of SD unless facing stall or HO (in either case, spikes have little use)
:dragonite: have a plan to kill everyone you meet
This is gonna be a long long paragraph since this monstrosity of a set is probably the first thing you frowned at when you looked at my team. For some reason, I prefer to add the glue mon at the second last slot and use the last slot scarfer as a "glue of the glue" so here is dnite patching every hole that the four man squad has left
IDBP crunch zama: screw you, steamrolls the entire rest of my team until HURRICANE DRAGONITE comes to the rescue
bulk up tusk: screw you, hurricane (survives +1 spinner and nearly always lives spin into +0 spinner from 0atk tusk, besides when are they ever gonna suspect it and not set up?)
booster ival: FK YOU, hurricane (multiscale is the goat)
charizard y: screw you, stone edge
volcarona: screw you, stone edge
I know this is a very unorthodox way of handling threats, but due to the presence of tusk (looks like defensive spinner) you can pretend to be ddance and therefore preserve multiscale into a couple of these guys by just taking them completely off guard. you bet these suckers are gonna complain to the NDOU room that "LADDER MFS RUNNING HURRICANE STONE EDGE DNITE THESE DAYS" and you can rest easy knowing that they lost to you.
Dragonite also does a lot of other useful things though, heres a short list:
  • stoploss vs HO in general (stuff like bb gren, z kommo o, unorthodox stuff that you dont normally expect but can 6-0 if allowed to set up: try to preserve multiscale in order to not autolose)
  • emergency defog: opposing hazard stack is pretty stubborn, and tspikes is a disaster, so having a fogger as backup makes thinking a lot easier
  • extra hp for outlasting stall (though you usually have to muscle through it or lose)
  • hurricane is nice to hit grasses like tang and mvenu that you dont really have good ways to kill
EVs are rather specific: spa kills 252/0 tusk with hurricane, atk 2hkoes zap (though since i edited it from heavy speed invest to 0- speed you no longer outspeed roost so this is less useful although you can also bluff being faster), rest is dump and conveniently hits tusk calcs
The problem with this set is that cramming so much usefulness into this one dnite almost entirely kills its ability to do anything else; also, the main weakness of the team is opponents that stack a lot of stuff that dnite covers since it usually only covers one of them (two on a good bluffy day), so play very carefully with dragonite, use tusk to try n kill some of those stuff if needed
Preserving dragonite until you can successfully bait what you need dead is the key to winning games here, this guy may as well be the MVP of the team and hence deserves the longest writeup
:gholdengo: feelings?
This guy is OP into balance and MEGA OP into stall. Also trades vs offense. Pop ghost Z willy nilly unless you have a specific target you want dead that somehow doesnt get killed by anyone else. (like setup fini for example)
:great-tusk: i'm not a crazed gunman dad, i'm an assassin
An assassin. Somehow, people always seem to read team preview as defensive spin tusk and offensive dnite (i dont blame them), so even bringing him in against stuff it seems slower against on a sac people like to stay in and die. LOL

THREATLIST
IDCM or Cosmic Power + Stored power fat sweepers :tapu-fini::clefable::cresselia: hate these guys. idk how to win just get lucky or lose (maybe SD gambit could beat fini but still gets outscaled by iron defense)
stall specifically featuring :dondozo::clodsire:: figure it out yourself im sick and tired of these two
probably more but this team feels so strong into everything that you have a solution to almost any problem that isnt :iron-valiant::volcarona::charizard-mega-y::great-tusk::zamazenta::tapu-fini: all on the same team

Replays:

You know how people love to complain about "low ladder" and its "shenanigans"? Well people only complain when they lose to them. And, given how often you see people complain about them, one can only assume people very often lose to them. So why not use them yourself? This team's only normal set is Z Gholdengo. Have fun!!!

A man goes crazy without his Deo-S. As a hyper offense addict, I have never felt such a mortal urge for some more of those funny spiky rocks on a team. Just thinking about it has made my tiny brain spin with anticipation and frustration, as Natdex OU has banned my boy Deo-S. As I toil and rot away in my room, my frustration builds to unfathomable levels as I scream in my fury and rage.
Then one day, something just snapped inside of me. I didn't care if the mon had a bad typing, I didn't care if the mon had a horrible movepool, I didn't even care about what tier the mon was! I went to the teambuilder, clicked on new team, clicked on new pokemon, typed in stealth rocks and then clicked on the speed bar.
There, I saw my savior.

After countless hours* of testing and malding against an unfortunate lobby user**, I have realized that I created a monster***.
BEHOLD! MY MASTERPIECE****! MY MAGNUM OPUS*****! MY TOUR DE FORCE******!

Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 36 Def / 220 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Taunt
- Hurricane/Ancient Power
- Fire Blast

After witnessing this set, you must be thinking that this man is out of his mind, but no. There are reasons why I run special suicide lead Aerodactyl.

It was on a faithful day that the epiphany hit me that a good suicide lead keeps the rocks up. It doesn't need any more tools than to keep the rocks up. With my tools in taunt, defog is no match for my rocks.
And now, who is the most prominent spinner in the metagame of Natdex OU?
Yes.
Great tusk.
And great tusk is only known for its physical defense.
What will happen, when I hit this lump of ground with a special move? Truly, you have noticed, that I am onto something incredible.

220 SpA Aerodactyl Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Great Tusk: 350-414 (94.3 - 111.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 354-416 (81.5 - 95.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 32 SpD Assault Vest Great Tusk: 222-264 (51.1 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

You see, we only need to guarantee a 2HKO in order to acquire our rocks. People will think that this aerodactyl cannot possibly deal enough damage to a great tusk, and they are wrong. Switching your tusk into my aerodactyl is certain death. And even if you rapid spin on the first turn, my 36 defense will save myself from certain death.
136 Atk Great Tusk Rapid Spin vs. 0 HP / 36 Def Aerodactyl: 34-40 (11.2 - 13.2%) -- possible 8HKO
136 Atk Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 36 Def Aerodactyl: 218-258 (72.4 - 85.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This set baits great tusk quite well, and even makes sure to always get a 1-1 trade with extra rocks. But thats not all. Counters towards the regular Aerodactyl perish in front of the wrath of special aerodactyl.

220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Iron Treads: 190-224 (59.1 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor-Mega: 284-336 (101 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 204 SpD Ferrothorn: 212-252 (60.3 - 71.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 154-182 (48.8 - 57.7%) -- 95.3% chance to 2HKO

Requesting a team

:melmetal:or :ursaluna:(dynamic punch)+ :blunder-policy: + :slowking-galar: (trickroom)

:melmetal: or :ursaluna: suffers extremely from its speed or its lack there of it. Therefore using the combination of dynamic punch + :blunder-policy: , :melmetal: or :ursaluna: can either confuse the opposing pokemon or DOUBLE its speed.

With the help of :slowking-galar:(trickroom) :melmetal: or :ursaluna: can preserve its :blunder-policy:. In trickroom :slowking-galar: + :melmetal: or :ursaluna: can become offensive threats, while outside trickroom :slowking-galar: can be a slow pivot and a future sight setter. While :melmetal: or :ursaluna: can be a speed control using :blunder-policy:

I think the team should be a balance or bo to take advantage of :slowking-galar: and :melmetal: or :ursaluna: as they can output a decent amount of damage while being bulky.

Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Supercell Slam
- Ice Spinner
- Headlong Rush
- Bulk Up

Now booster Tusk isn't anything new, but I decided to give it a little twist by giving it the BoltBeam coverage alongside Headlong Rush. You may also noticed the lack of Rapid Spin on the set, but that is what the speeds evs are for alongside Booster Energy. This version of Great Tusk is meant to be used on Hyper Offensive teams, commiting to sweep as a aggresive mon that can hit nearly everything for at least neutral damage. I hope you guys enjoy building, I have plans for later post for yall to enjoy.

ʟᴏʀᴅ ᴀᴅᴀʀꜱʜ has just joined us as a builder! poggers

for anyone wondering, drampa was rejected after we tried building it for two weeks and failed to produce anything that would go beyond 1500
working through the backlog soon, any rejects will be made known personally to the OP but we dont expect to have to do that much more because most of them look workable
thanks for your patience with the teams everyone!

136 Atk Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 0 HP / 36 Def Aerodactyl: 218-258 (72.4 - 85.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

This set baits great tusk quite well, and even makes sure to always get a 1-1 trade with extra rocks. But thats not all. Counters towards the regular Aerodactyl perish in front of the wrath of special aerodactyl.

220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Iron Treads: 190-224 (59.1 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor-Mega: 284-336 (101 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 204 SpD Ferrothorn: 212-252 (60.3 - 71.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
220 SpA Aerodactyl Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gholdengo: 154-182 (48.8 - 57.7%) -- 95.3% chance to 2HKO

And uhhh how do i apply to become a builder
lol. i love this set
AERODACTYL ANTI FLOOR HO
:aerodactyl: :gyarados-mega: :gholdengo: :hawlucha: :landorus-therian: :latias:
i could just slap on a ton of broken sweepers but that isnt as interesting as mono off the floor HO(shiest)
:aerodactyl: build of the team, actually dece lead
:gyarados-mega: switches into gambit and stuff
:gholdengo: resident steel type sweeper, air balloon so u avoid the ground
:hawlucha: white herb is BASICALLY like a seed i mean they all go lando anyway
:landorus-therian: needs a ground so my goat lando also breaks zapdos stuff for lucha
:latias: needed a last anti ground so a scarf hwish trick latias was slapped on. switches into shifu for aero
as u can prolly tell some of our builds will inevitably be less serious than others, which is why i encourage posting mons that actually have potential(looking at u, drampa)

IT HAS BEEN ANOTHER WEEK

:Iron-Valiant: :Psychium-Z:
- Hypnosis
- Swords Dance / Calm Mind
- DependsOnTheTeam
- DependsOnTheTeam

I made this because i saw some ppl talking abt :darkrai: in the nd chat and how it wasn't "busted" so ive decided to create this abomination for you lunatics.

This :iron valiant: is supposed to sleep the opposing pokemon and setup swords dance / calm mind to boost its attack / spa while the opposing pokemon sleeps.

So uhmm tldr this :iron valiant: is just a worse version of the cheese :darkrai: set

(:darkrai: will haunt your dreams with z hypnosis)

Note to everyone: You are not permitted to edit your post after 24 hours. This was never explicitly stated in the rules, but it was still implied since it is likely it would be in progress by then. This will be appended to the rules soon; anyone who has edited posts late so far is fine, but in future please take note.

On a lighter note, I'm posting :gardevoir-mega: today, and :meowscarada::melmetal::aggron-mega::altaria-mega: are all well under way!
