no not navarro, hes going to retire in like 2 years since hes like 38!!! lol

but anyhoo yeah i just got home from 2 hours of random shit, got on yahoo sports and yeah lakers mmhmm

As much as I was looking forward to Javaris Critts progress...the new front court of Bynum, Gasol, Odom with Fisher and Kobe playing backcourt...YUMMY! I'm happy Odom can be the #4 option now...that fool is O-DUMB as a #2 or 3 option. I swear he is Mr. Inconsistent.

Lol, I love that doode. Did you see his trampoline dunk during the all star game..lol? Even better, on his blog...he talks about his love for playing Halo with cheats haha

I like the projected lineup and all, but I wouldn't be surprised to see ariza/walton/vladi still fill in that SF spot. I don't know how Phil is going to use Pau when Bynum comes back. However, that's the scary thing about the Lakers now, Phil Jackson will know how to use his new weapon to the fullest.

As for the Grizz, if they build around Gay, then I'm in the money. :) Still, Conley, Gay, Hakim, MM, Mlicic/Kwame? Still sounds good for their future to me with Jav and Lowry in their bench.

I can try to give some perspective on the memphis-LA trade, as I'm from memphis. Besides, I've been looking for a place to vent about this.

Lets get started with the headline in the paper. "Gasol for What?" and the subtitle reads "Griz trade Gasol for questionable talent and draft picks with little potential."

This might the the worst trade I have ever seen in my life, I mean this is randy moss for a 4th round draft pick bad for us. Gasol was by far our best player and look what we got for him: his unproven brother, some guys on one has heard of (or ever will), a draft bust, and some low draft picks.

I guess the draft picks were supposed to provide the means to rebuild the team, but lets take a look at the past draft picks: http://insider.espn.go.com/nbadraft...ft/draft/tracker/team?team=Mem&draftyear=2007

Note that all the relevent picks are in the top 6 but 3. Lets see, how many of those players are still on the griz-only 1 not including the rookies from this year. How many of those picked have developed into good NBA players? Gasol. Bibby and Francis were good once upon a time. So that's 3 good picks since 1997, not including this year's rookies. If they can't get a lottery pick right how am I supposed to believe they can get a late 1st round pick right?

The other "good" thing that came out of this was the cap space. As much as I would like to agree with mop, they won't sign Gilbert Arenas. The owner is way too cheap. I mean he made a big deal out of paying for nba leauge pass to watch his team while he was on vacation. He even had a story in the paper about it. No one here was impressed, most owners are usually there when there team plays and he never is. He doesn't even live in the city. He doesn't care about winning, he just wants to make money. After all this he complains about attendace problems. HEY STUPID, PUT A GOOD TEAM ON THE FLOOR AND YOU MIGHT DRAW MORE PEOPLE THAN THE LOCAL COLLEGE TEAM! That might be harder than it sounds, but there are some easy steps to take. YOU MIGHT TRY NOT TRADING YOUR BEST PLAYER FOR A COLLECTION OF GARBAGE THAT WILL PROBABLY BE OUT OF THE LEAGUE IN A FEW YEARS.

Back to the free agent thing, we won't get Arenas, or any other big name. When the grizz get cap space they spend it on player like Darko and Brian Cardinal. Remember a few years ago when Shaq was being traded and the grizz were in the conversation? All they would have had to do is give up Gasol and they could get Shaq, did it happen? No, Gasol was the franchise (which the they had been saying as recently as last month).

What is wrong with this franchise? It went to the playoffs 3 years in a row largely on the strengh of defense, so what did they do? They hired a coach that plays the sun's style of offense. What is going on? The only thing that preserves a hint of optimism is that they did get the rudy gay trade right.

Basically, to sum it up there are a lot of pissed off people in Memphis right now. On paper it looks like we might have accomplished somthing, but those of us who live here konw the reality: both draft picks will be busts, the cap space will not be used or spend on a garbage player. This trade sets the franchise back a good 3-5 years.

Lakers got a squad now, kid

I'm just waiting for something to come through for the Knicks

if we had a point guard like Jason Kidd, we could mos def make it to the playoffs

I'm always dissapointed with the Suns they are always good in the season but screw themselves over in the playoffs.

Well I am a Kings fan, always have been, and the Kings are getting better and now have won four straight. Brad Miller had 20 Rebounds tonight, and I am glad to see him playing well again. The whole team is doing better now. I don't think they will make the playoffs, but I am sure glad to see them doing better this year.

Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract after this season, which apparently he will do since he is unhappy in Phoenix, thus the reason the Suns are looking to trade him. I don't think Marion will stay with the Heat, even though he will get a chance as the second option in Miami. If he leaves then the Heat will have enough cap room to sign a big name free agent this summer.

For the Suns, well, I don't know how this will work out. They have always been criticized for the lack of interior defense, so with Shaq there they will have that (whenever he is healthy) and Amare can move to PF, his natural position. The big question is probably if Shaq can play that up-tempo style or if they will now play at a slower pace (which I doubt, but it could happen). Losing Marion is a big blow IMO, since he is one of the best finishers in the NBA. But who knows, maybe this is the Suns answer to finally getting past the Spurs.

I think the Suns are becoming like the Pistons, aged. Grant Hill and Shaq in the same year? Wow, Steve Kerr must be desperate.

SIGN GILBERT ARENAS!!!!

lol NBA rules make it so that Washington can offer him more money than any other team

and why would Gilbert leave Washington for Memphis anyway seeing as without him they're a pretty decent team with a lot of young talent (granted Memphis has a lot of young talent too but not as much); Washington beat Dallas twice and Boston twice this year, though they're sucking now and Jordan is still iffy in my view.

O'Neal to Phoenix is a pretty bad trade. However, I see the Suns going with something like Stoudemire/Diaw/Bell/filler/Nash then bringing Shaq off the bench when it comes time to play the Spurs and Lakers. If anything, a healthy Shaq may allow them to actually pound a team like Dallas into the dirt, then bench him to resume their running style if need be.

Oh geez, why Shaq? Granted, I like Shaq, he was a great player in the past. But he's...well, old now, doesn't really fit into the Suns' style of running and gunning, and...well, he's old. As much as Marion has been whining recently, he's always been a good, consistent performer. And Stoudamire does well enough at Center. If they need a big man, we already have another via Skinner after all. And of course, there's the whole luxury tax issue (giving up Kurt Thomas was bad enough), and now this...if they wanted to ditch Marion, why not at least trade him for that deal that would have gave us Kevin Garnett? I hope at least Marion will now want to be back on the Suns after finishing what will be a disasterous year with the Heat...

Overall, as much as I like Shaq, this is a bad trade for my favorite team (Suns).

I did neglect to report - Shaq claims to have his lowest body fat percentage this year of any year in his playing career, so that should help him with the running at least somewhat.

Guys lets look at the other side

Wade+Marion+Haslem, solid 2-3-4 combination, especially if they can get Marion to sign an extention. Now let's look further ahead...DERRICK ROSE anyone?!?!?! Rose+Wade+Marion+Haslem will be like Suns East (circa 2004-2007) and if not, that has got to be an intriguing as fuck line up to see!!!

So good they might almost make the playoffs!!! WAIT though! you didnt mention MARK BLOUNT in the LETHAL combination, that mans a 7 ft pimp that will shag you up if you dont give him that chewin gum and jumpers daily!!!

yeah so serious now, I see this as a horrible move for the suns. Yeah sure marion wanted to be traded, but for someone with his value get more then a near useless shaquille o'neal. He cant keep up the pace with steve nash and the run and gun offense over on phoenix. The ONLY thing that it helps phoenix is pure post up offense, stoudamire is more of the pick and roll offensive player, shaq is pure post up. Too late in his career to do this imo.

ps: mark blount likes boys

The KG deal was more the T-Wolves not wanting to trade KG within conference, when deals with superstars happen that's the modus operandi.

I went to nets vs laker game yesterday and got to high five all the laker players and got to specifically got to hand shake Kobe,i was so happy. ^^

^coolness!!

yeah, i'm with the crowd on this one. Trading Marion for "this" Shaq is not a great deal. Shaq will only go down in value, and he'll likely retire in no more than 2 years. Marion still has a bright future ahead of him as one of the premier players in the league. If Marion does not sign with the Heat in the offseason, great trade for Suns. If Marion DOES sign with Heat, worst trade ever for the Suns. So we'll see what happens in the offseason and in the post season to see who truly gets the better end of the deal...

now that football is over and NBA is making trades out the yingyang looks exciting this year after my mavs horrible exit last year lol

Duh Shaq is going to retire in two years, that's when his contract ends. And it's not like Marion resigning was a good thing, cause the idiot wants max money and had Suns actually gave him the extention, which will sure as hell last longer than 2 more years, they'll be paying THREE max contracts.

Plus, if Shaq doesn't win another one, you can't say Suns downgraded cause it's not like they won one with Marion, they'd just be known as constant couldn't get over the hill team, kind of like early 90's Blazers, Mid 90's Sonics and late 90's Jazz.
