hahaha most of the 'experts' are saying the mavs would be a better team this year with kidd on it than without but w/e Harris is good so is Diop and those other players but it felt like we gave up a lot 5 players albeit only 2 were "serious" and 2 first rounds in future years but w/e playing to win this year la

loki is the best :D

Holy shit, I just saw that Ginobili scored 46 points (with a mild 8 assists, no biggie). Either he or Kaman qualifies as the player most harangued in the offseason to have a career year. Ginobili is having the better year, but Kaman also had much lower expectations.

Lame technical early birds right thingy.

Funny cause George said earlier a few weeks back if he wasn't getting playing time, he'd want to go somewhere to boost his stats for it. So instead tonight when they let him start, he went 0-11. It's great irony in every aspect of it.

Are you fucking joking Mizuno? Harris has better efficiency ratings, plays better defense, has the youth, is cheaper (and will be cheaper even after a contract extension, although that will now be for some other team). This is not as absurd as the Shaq trade, but it is pretty fucking close.

I think he will not be able to start for the East, and that Jose Calderon should hopefully get the spot!

What? Kidd makes them better right now (at least, IMO). The Mavs are thinking short-term, then want to win now. Harris has better efficiency ratings? Harris ranks 87 in NBA Efficiency Rankings, while Kidd ranks 29 (unless you were talking about shooting %, which has never been Kidd's strong point). Harris plays better defense? Kidd is getting old, but he has been named 4 times for First Team All-Defensive (most recently in 2005-06) and 4 times for Second Team All-Defensive. I do agree that Harris is probably one of the best defensive guards, but Kidd stats shows he still has some game left.

Now, I like Harris and he has a very promising feature. I agree that maybe the Mavs are rushing things a bit, it's not like they are an old team (Harris and Howard will only get better). However, the Mavs decided they want to win now, and, IMO, they have a much better chance to do that with Kidd this year (I still don't think they will win... but at least have a better chance). Now, if this is a good decision for the future is another story (probably not, but I guess we'll see).

The trade also means that when Kidd leaves Dallas' Point Guard of the future will be my boy Jose Juan Barea =D. Probably not, but is good to have hope!

Of course, this is all assuming Dallas finds a way to make the trade work without George!

Barea is good, but not as good as Harris. Sorry to not have quoted that I am going by John Hollinger's ratings, which have their flaws, as any ratings, but are still generally far better than NBA's.

HOW DOES LOSING DIOP AND HARRIS MAKE THE MAVERICKS BETTER. Jason Kidd, if he is really better than Harris, is so barely better that it is still a huge loss thanks to losing Diop. They would get back Stackhouse, so that part is not a big deal at all.

have you ever seen jason kidd play? he'll bring a new style to dallas, as well as being able to continue using the old style. Jason kidd is a top 3 point guard in the league, i wouldnt even put harris top 10. Jason kidd is one of the best leaders in the NBA, and we all know what happens when dirk tries to take that role, but no he doesnt have to.

The mavs play a pick & roll style game. Kidd is still very good at pick and rolls, but at the same time can do tons of stuff off the dribble, on the fast break, and is way better of a passer then devin harris. Kidd brings an extra dimension, now instead of 2 star players (howard/dirk) they add a third that will get everybody going in only the way the top pgs in the league can. Nobody in their right mind will say devin harris might be better then jason kidd, kidd is the real deal as he's shown year after year.

There is no such thing as a 36% shooter who is a top three at their position. Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, Jose Calderon, Deron Williams, Tony Parker, Baron Davis, and both Jason Terry AND Devin Harris are better at present, just off the top of my head.

As evidence, from today's Daily Dime: "Maybe they would never say it to camera and microphones, but based on the locker room chatter, it sounded like the Spurs players would rather deal with Kidd instead of Harris at this point."

im not gunna start a fight about kidd, your entitled to your own opinion

but w/e, so i hear all star weekend is quite boring, hopefully the slam dunk competition will actually be worth watching this year. Last year the best event was the bavetta vs barkley race.

I will admit though, i had a good time watching the celebrity all star game, a one point win by two clutch free throws by master p! oh and...there was a DUNK...by the freak athlete by the name terrell owens, but still he DUNKED!

Yeah the celebrity game was fun to watch, even though I only saw the second half. The Rookie game as fun too, Gibson was on fire from 3.

With or without Arenas, the Wizards are a so-so outfit. Just good enough to make a quick exit in the playoffs. So it's business as usual in Washington
(from Fox Sports)

This is complete ignorance. Do you realize that without a player who is easily one of the top 20 in the NBA, the Wizards had beaten Boston twice, Dallas twice, had wins over teams like San Antonio and Portlan and were 6 games over .500 before Butler got hurt? And you want to say they're a "so-so" outfit *with* Gilbert Arenas? Without ANY support for such a ridiculous claim?

Maybe it's because our GM doesn't make any big splashes in free agency. Maybe it's because its DC which every sportswriter seems to hate. But the idea that the Wizards are a "so-so" team AFTER adding nearly 50 ppg, 10 rpg and 10 apg to their team in March is utterly ridiculous.

Fully healthy, the Wizards are easily in the discussion with Detroit and Boston for best in the East.

Slam Dunk contest was great, one of the best I have seen. Dwight Howard was just completely awesome, I only wish I was there to see it in person! I was hoping for a bit more from Moon and Gay, but it was great anyways!

Deron and Kapono were awesome in their respective competitions as well, it was a really entertaining night.

Dwight Howards overall night was easily 1 of the top 5 performances in a dunk contest EVER. each dunk had the place going crazy, and made the dunk contest look like it used 2

moon got screwed imo, greens windmill was nothing special at all. Dwight had it locked obviously, but moon should have been in the finals. The cake was creative but at the end of the day not THAT hard.

Moon didn't really do anything that hadn't been done before, and imo putting tape down to signify your launchpoint, then failing to do so made him look bad.

I was almost in tears when Boobie made that eleventh 3, I'm a huge Cavs fan and I was really excited, and lol at how Howard didn't really "Dunk" the ball in that Superman one. Can't wait for tonight to see LeBron and the others showcase their skills.
