The Next Best Thing - Sawk [Voting]

We may as well close this round, treenub clearly wins.

While he has the majority now, keep in mind that last round FLCL was at like 9 or something, then out of nowhere people started voting for HotNCold, and it almost ended in a tie. Closing a round this early is unfair, as there still is a good portion of the community that hasn't voted. On another note, at least two other sets have been voted for, so there's definitely a chance for a change in the two day period.

Treecko the champion! Or more like the king ape? idk really.

Next mon (which is especially relevant in the metagame right now, meaning it has a lot of interesting options)...

-Flamethrower / Fire Blast
-Will-O-Wisp

Annoyed by all those pesky Scolipedes setting up on layers on layers of Spikes on you, as your typical Weezing set can just cripple it with a burn? What about those Golems and Regirocks trying to get their Stealth Rocks up, crippling your good 'ol pal Charizard, are you tired of that as well? Well, fear no more, as anti-lead Weezing is here to save you!

This set, of course, can stil do much more than Taunt the aforementioned Pokemon. Heck, it's not even limited of being an anti-lead mon. This set is an upgrade of the standard Weezing set, as it is capable of dealing with 3 of the 4 drops that dropped from RU. (Munchlax, a usual counter to Weezing, could lose against this set with Taunt + Poison hax).

Black Sludge is used to give Weezing a form of recovery and is a staple on all standard bulky Weezing sets; it cannot afford to have Pain Split on its' moveset due to its unreliability, and Misdreavus is a better user of that because of its lower base HP. The EV spread is made to take physical hits from the likes of Kangaskhan, Scolipede, Primeape, Sawsbuck and non-CB Braviary well. 0 Atk IVs for Foul Play Liepard and confusion hax.

Taunt is what makes this set unique, as not many people know Weezing learns it. Taunt is such a good move in this meta because of its ability to shut down prominent defensive Pokemon in the tier, like Piloswine, Lickilicky, Regirock, and other slow Pokemon. Taunt also helps Weezing stop setup sweepers cold, like Calm Mind Musharna or Coil Eelektross, who would otherwise find Weezing as free setup fodder as they usually can take anything Weezing throws at them while setting up. Weezing also has a base 60 Speed, which is pretty usable for a wall. Another reason for having Taunt on Weezing is it makes Scolipede set up 1 layer of Spikes only, meaning Weezing could force it out, or it may take quite a roasting from Flamethrower or Fire Blast, which I believe is a 2HKO. Sludge Bomb provides Weezing a good STAB move, and its coming off a Pokemon with a base 85 Special Attack, so it's "setup fodder" weak. Not many Pokemon resist both Sludge Bomb and Fire Blast while not being crippled by WoW at the same time. Will-O-Wisp helps Weezing take physical hits even better, and is a great move to have on any physical wall.

What differentiates this set from the standard Misdreavus one is that its both unpredictable and reliable. Not many people know that Weezing gets Taunt as I have stated earlier, and not many Pokemon that learn the infamous Stealth Rock outspeed Weezing but not Misdreavus. Misdreavus also is less bulky even with Eviolite. Sludge Bomb and Fire Blast also means that Weezing is not setup fodder for stuff like Ludicolo or Steel Types like Klang (lol) without being crippled by SB or FB damage respectively unlike Misdreavus who can only fit Foul Play or Shadow Ball in its moveset. Weezing also has the ability to equip a recovery item unlike Misdreavus, meaning it can take repeated Rock Blasts or Icicle Crashes from SR leads way better than Missy does, who could waste valuable turns trying to recover with its only recovery move Pain Split.

Weezing @ Payapa Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SAtk / 44 Def
Modest Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Fire Blast
- Clear Smog
- Pain Split

This Weezing is perfect for you if your team has trouble with any of the new drops, especially Jynx. It is also a great way to bypass custap golem thanks to burn. It can burn any of the strong physical attacks such as scolipede or even primeape on the switch, and can also remove any boosts scolipede might have compiled with clear smog. That's all pretty basic stuff, right, but the main thing you will notice with this set is the weird EVs and papaya berry. It means that weezing can lure in Jynx, like he does, and OHKO her with fire blast thanks to the EV arrangement. The payapa berry lets it survive a psychic from Jynx as well, otherwise it would be a OHKO.

If the team somehow doesn't have a scolipede, primeape or Jynx in this metagame, then Weezing still takes out the majority of physical attacks with burn and still gets rid of boosts with clear smog, making it a surefire counter to CM mushy as well.

Weezing@ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
Ev's: 252HP/116D/92SpA/48Speed
Bold Nature
-Substitute
-Sludge Bomb
-Fire Blast
-Will-o-wisp/Toxic

Well this is your poke for stopping the big three dropdowns of NU: Scolipede, Primeape and Jynx (sorry munchlax). Substitute is your most sure fire way to get big hits off jynx and really any psychic type expect for I guess heal bell musharna. When weezing in on the field, most people, including myself, will go into our psychic types, not expecting that weezing is going to use substitute. From here, weezing can OHKO jynx after stealth rock damage with fire blast, in exchange for breaking a sub. Primeape cannot break through weezing with any of its attacks, while weezing can 2HKO primeape unless weezing gets absolute min damage twice. THis sub can even live a life orb megahorn from a jolly scoliopede (aqua tail and rock slide aren't breaking it either) and KO back with a fire blast. The speed Ev's are there to outpace standard golurk and standard alomomola. Will-o-wisp can be used to break down golruk and ensure that it cannot break your subs with any move, while weezing can use toxic for alomomola or musharna, depending on team preferences. I would think will-o-wisp would be more useful overall. This set, and probably all of the weezing sets, should not aim to be able to switch onto a psychic type- that really does not make any sense imo- but rather draw them in and be able to get a more reliable hit off and to scout the set if you don't already know.

@ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute
- Pain Split / Sludge Bomb
- Torment

Are you coming across those cute little teams with Choiced Jynx and Primeape cores that U-Turn and fire off Psychics and Ice Beams all day with reckless abandon? Well, look no further than Torment Weezing! The set does what I think Weezing does best: use his natural bulk and amazing typing and ability to force switches on strong attackers and cripple them for the rest of the match (or at least momentarily). The crux of the set is Substiute and Torment, which go hand in hand to fulfill the set's purpose. The first step is to go in on a Choiced physical mon (which is much easier to sniff out in the current metagame.) and set up a sub on the switch. Suddenly, your opponent's Choiced Junx comes in (or maybe it's a NP Jynx getting cocky and setting up without a sub.) and breaks your sub with a Psychic. You use Torment. Now, the Choiced Jynx is forced to struggle and the NP Jynx is forced to attack, allowing you to switch into your Dark- Type and ruin your opponent's day. If the Psychic was Choiced, Will-O-Wisp the incoming attacker, or set up another sub, the proceed to Pain Split back to over half health so you can start the cycle all over again. You can opt for Sludge Bomb over Pain Split, but Weezing appreciates the health recovery to do its job, and you're trying to come in on Choiced attackers anyways, which ever carry Taunt for obvious reasons. If you're uneasy and want some attack to do some damage to Jynx, you can run Sludge Bomb over Will-O-Wisp, but I see those as important to the set's success, and may hold it back from doing its job.
