Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 32 SAtk / 24 Spd
Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Thunder Wave
- Hex
This misdreavus set combines SubSplit and T-Wave + Hex.
The way it works is, you set up a sub on a predicted switch / status thing like toxic or twave, and then you paralyze the foe (or you could just paralyze them if you know they won't be doing damage to you.) Then you keep subbing down till you can 1) effectively pain split or 2) get the lucky parahax, whereafter you use hex, which is now even more powerful than shadow ball, since it is 50*2 after the paralyzation, hitting 100 Base Power and 150 after STAB
This set has worked quite well for me, and if you get lucky with some full paralyzation, you can beat a massive handful of pokemon one on one.
When it comes to counters, there are plenty though :( Ground types are immune to T-wave, and then can't be hit as hard by hex, and Normal types cannot be killed. Though it has it's counters, it not only works well by itself, but provides some support for the team. Paralyzing fast special threats that like to switch in on Missy can be very useful for later on.
The EV spread and nature allows Missy to maintain good, balanced bulk in both stats, while being able to do good damage to opposing pokemon. 252 / 200 / 0 allows Missy to reach bulk of 324 HP and 309 in both defenses after Eviolite. A little speed creeping, because speed creeping is important. The rest goes to SAtk to hit stuff a bit harder :]
All the annoying features of SubSplit Missy-D, now with an even more powerful STAB move and paralysis ^_^
