The Official "Complain about being beat by Seattle Defense" Thread

Why on earth would you start Jones? He always plays terrible when hampered by injury. And LOL Jennings. I fucking dropped his ass after realizing that significant touches a good running back does not make. I would have gone with Vick Ballard for sure and maybe rolled the dice on Shorts. As for your Ravens defense, well everyone was expecting this to be a low scoring battle of defense game, with ben out and Flacco proving himself mediocre throughout the season. Ravens will always come to work 100% against their biggest rival, even with so many injuries.

yeah Jennings is probably done. Parmele did just fine, and he's gor burst that Jennings doeesn't seem to have. such a shame.

i'm not so mad about the Ravens, i mean i'll take 15 points from a defense every week.

Shorts and Lewis were the surprises and Graham/Jones and fucking Bowe were the let downs. i didn't realize Jennings would only be returning kicks Sunday or i definitely would have started Ballard. lesson learned.

like i said, i'm not very good at this, and will let the computer draft my team next year.

Dude, this is my first year playing fantasy football, and I'm currently leading my league at 9-2. You just gotta put in the time and do your homework and that's like 50% of it right there. Of course I'm in an 8 team league, but everyone else has played ff multiple times already.

even if you do all your homework, there is so much unpredictability that things can still go wrong. Even the best FF players have bad years due to injury and/or a player just randomly dropping off for no apparent reason. Sure there is a skill to drafting and choosing lineups to an extent, but at the end of the day it's easily 33-50% luck.

I definitely agree that a lot is luck. I think listening to the Fantasy Focus Football podcast as well as Fantasy Underground really helps. Those guys eat, sleep and breath fantasy football and they're more often than not correct. And Matthew Berry is hilarious to listen to

I did my homework and took calculated risks starting t.y hilton and danario alexander. Ended up paying off as they won me it.

8 man leagues are notoriously luck-based, because every team you end up with is pretty equally elite and the matchups are only a question of who does well and who does poorly that given week. You could have a team of Matt Ryan, Ray Rice, Arian Foster, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, and Larry Fitzgerald in an 8 man league and still have lost this week. Whether they deserve the bad rep or not, most people agree that 8-person leagues are pretty uncompetitive.

Like I said, this is my first year, and it's mostly for fun. Oh and we've been trading since week two. I don't own a single player left from draft night (partly because I drafted terribly after the 5th round, not knowing what I was doing) except my Seattle Defense. Yeah. So there has been a shitload of turnover and stuff just for fun. Next year we're going to 10 team minimum and possibly starting a dynasty league. But this year was to see how things went.

>_>

Losing to an inactive is the fucking worst, especially when it's not because of injuries or a couple of their players absolutely blew up. no, just because half of your team decided to uncharacteristically play like ASS

I lost to a team starting DARREN MCFADDEN AND DEMARCO MURRAY (and Maclin who did play but scored 0) because Houston D scored 0, Zuerlein scored 1, Denarius Moore somehow put up 0.4 against the SAINTS, and Matt fucking Ryan scored 6.74.

Ridiculously autodrafted team lost this week because Matt Ryan decided to throw 5 interceptions, and Cruz and Harvin were on bye NOOOOO.

I'm feeling pretty confident for the rest of the season though. If only I could find that solid RB2 then I would feel really good.

Come on Ballard / Starks / Thomas / Stephens-Howling

in my defense steeler, idk if sproles is a guarantee to win it, im already missing my starting QB, WR2, RB2 AND julio jones as well as mcgahee got hurt early in both of their games.

i would like to use this thread to complain about the number of playoff teams being changed from 4 to 6. on WEEK TWELVE. seriously. wtf. worst league ever

Started Mendenhall over Ahmad Bradshaw because I thought the Browns were shitty and he had 14 carries last game. Man I feel stupid. Now I need to pray Hakeem Nicks gets 17 points today...

I actually had a strong outing this week from almost all of my teams. I'm already essentially eliminated in 3 of them, but in the one that matters I am up by 30 pts currently with my opponent having Maclin and Philly defense left to play. I really hope something crazy doesn't happen tomorrow because losing that matchup would all but kill my playoff hopes.

What the hell is wrong with Fitzgerald? 6.2 pts in the last 2 weeks combined, ughhhhhh. I -really- hope the Cardinals realize Lindley isn't ready and bring back Skelton, because he actually threw to his best WR.

Gah, it's a good thing my opponent was too busy to get his lineup set this week, I completely guessed wrong and still pulled out the win. Not that I needed it, with the #1 seed locked in. Still, I'd like to think my predictive powers were improving.
Week12Roster.png

You may notice I have a surplus of WR and only a mediocre trifecta of RB. That is because the WR position is marginally more dependent on matchups than RB is. Top talent at RB will pretty much insure good numbers, but outside of Megatron and Green, even top ten guys will tend to do poorly against top CBs. Basically what I'm saying is it's a bit easier to predict when WR's will play better than RB's so I loaded up on them at the Trade, along with finding Shorts and Jennings on waivers.

My opponent this week was 11th on the waiver wire, and snagged Bryce Brown right before I could get him. On Wednesday, I couldn't believe my fortune when he dropped him in favor of Parmele and I got to add him.

The best part is that we're playing each other this week. I was down over 70 points after the thursday night games thanks to Dez/RG3, but pulled within 27 come monday night. Brown's already at 32 points through 3 quarters. Feels good man.

Sat Bryce Brown. Started J-Stew and Ronnie Hillman (what the fuck, no reason to check Sunday morning...).

Played Titus Young (really thought I had put Nate Washington/Sid Rice over him).

This is probably going to knock me out of the playoffs in League B.

feels bad man. real real real bad.

man if i somehow get into league C playoffs, it's going to be the most fraudulent playoff spot ever. no team starting david wilson and joe flacco should even have a chance of getting in.

and you still have a good chance, as the two people behind me have easy matchups this week, compared to mine against pookar who has been overachieving lately.

Best feeling is winning despite your opponent having Cam Newton (44.65 points) and Andre Johnson (27.50 points). Surprisingly lucky this week in that league, and in the money league as well. Needed Brent Celek to not show up in that game to win, and it happened for me. Still sucking in League C, though at 4-8.

And Drew Brees has his only bad game all season in the one week when it matters most. This is pretty much a microcosm of my entire season in League C. Here's hoping my other guys step up...

I was about to throw something when he threw the fifth pick, but defensive offsides. MAYBE Brees can get a TD or at least a couple more yardage points for me to make his outing less of a handicap. Still frustrating though when a playoff berth for your fantasy team is on the line and you absolutely need the win.

EDIT: Nevermind he threw the fifth pick after all. Fuck my life...
