Messi scored another hat-trick today, thats 11 goals in last 5 games.

I actually think is unhealthy to be that good.

If Messi can stay on top form Barca will win the CL with ease

NOTHING wins CL with ease.

edit: oh unless youre talking about cristiano ronaldo lol. ronaldo confusion >_>

Yea you clearly don't watch him enough Messi always tries to stay on his feet, a lot and he always trys to get back up unlike Ronaldo.
I didn't say he didn't tried, because indeed he does, he just doesn't have the physical power needed for it vs heavier (or at least considerably heavier) opponents.

And why does everyone has to think that I can't have an impartial view of the best player in the world thingie just because I'm portuguese?

Anyway. I watched Man U-Liverpool yesterday, and I was thinking where Benfica, which doens't have the same firepower as Man U, can win the Europa League game. I believe Benfica CAN win the game on the midfield, but that might be a risky decision given their trio's ability. Lucas seems the weakest link there, but still...
I think the best solution would be to abuse Dí Maria's raids trough the flanks, Johnson seems out of shape and Insua has difficulties in stopping technically gifted. They seem to be the weakest part of the team, and there's where we can win the game. Agger and Carragher are two beasts though.

Messi is as big a cheat as Ronaldo, remember his own "hand of God" and the nice play acting to get Del Horno sent off at Chelsea. Certain guys are massive cunts but don't get the same media treatment see Torres, Gerrard, Rooney (massive diver when he needs to be). Ronaldo gets a lot stick from things that happened ages ago.

Eredivisie title race: Which club will be champion? Discuss.

Top 3 Eredivisie. With 28 playing rounds done and 6 left. Ajax has the easiest program. PSV the hardest. FC Twente also has a hard one. PSV and FC Twente often win undeserved with 1-0 and have luck and only play counter football. Ajax often plays good, beautiful, attacking football and they often score at least 3 goals each game.

Rank-CLub-Played-Points-Won-Drawn-Lost-Goals scored-Goals against

1-FC Twente-28-71-22-5-1-52-22
2-Ajax-28-67-21-4-3-85-19
3-PSV-28-66-20-6-2-61-23

FC Twente has never been champion, altough they are a topclub, they often end 2th. Ajax has been champion 29 times and PSV has been champion 21 times.

The number1 gets direct CL placing. The number 2 plays CL preround. The number 3 plays EL.

Topscorers.

1 Luis Suárez (Ajax), 29 goals.
2 Bryan Ruíz (FC Twente), 19 goals.
3 Mounir El Hamdaoui (AZ), 16 goals

Suárez scored more goals than Messi and Rooney (and also hit the woodwork a lot of times). Unfortunately, the Dutch competition is worse than the English and the Spanish ones.

The number 4, Feyenoord, has 51 points, so I won't even list it and it won't be a title candiate. They have a very hard program and won't be in the top 3.

What will be he top 3? Predict.

i'm going to have to agree with latinoheat, messi may not be a powerhouse like ronaldo, but he can still dispute the ball against a defender pretty well

and if you think messi is just a skinny player who can't face up to anyone, then you need to watch the second goal in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDKsTnK_h_U

Watching La Liga goals just makes me realise how piss-poor the majority of Spanish defending is.. Lol.

Poll question: Do you think Martin Jol a good coach?

You probably know him from his Tottenham Hotspur time (2004-2007). He also coached Hamburger SV (2008-2009) and coaches Ajax now (2009-2012). Before that, he reached UEFA Cup football with two small Dutch clubs, relegation candidates Roda JC (1996-1998) and RKC Waalwijk (1998-2004).

The video does not prove anything about the defences of la liga,Zaragoza are one of the bottom teams in la liga, Messi would turn the bottom teams around in the EPL just the same, or they would end up getting sent off because they couldn't win the ball without hacking him down which is just as bad defending.

It only proves that the weak teams in La Liga are weak for a reason. Anyway Messi's a freak, especially the second of the hat-trick. Scary that he's only 22 (assuming he doesn't have a Ronaldinho-esque loss of form).

Well, just taking a quick look at the Spanish La Liga Table... 13 / 20 teams have a Goal Difference in the minus. Even a further three of those don't even have anything higher than +8. I don't think you can say the attacking quality of the teams other than Barcelona, Real Madrid, and maybe teams like Valencia is much better than teams of the Premier League of a similar position either. So, I don't think I'm wrong in saying that the defending in rather poor for the majority of Spanish teams.

I'm not saying that the lower Premier League sides aren't weak defensively most of the time, but I still think they're tougher to break down than the weaker Spanish sides. There are more good teams in the Premier League than there are in La Liga, I feel.

La Liga just seems a bit too.. Barcelona or Real Madrid, and everyone else is a bit shit. Even looking at teams from about 5th onwards, there's little competition. No team is good enough to progress. Where as in the Premier League, the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa, Manchester Cty, Everton, and even Fulham etc can compete easily with the best teams...

Messi would turn the bottom teams around in the EPL just the same, or they would end up getting sent off because they couldn't win the ball without hacking him down which is just as bad defending.

I don't think that someone as frail and light-footed as Messi would succeed in the English Premier League. In England the football is a lot more physical and defenders aren't afraid of a brutal tackle. Messi would never stand a chance against some of the Englands strongest defenders

In La Liga I sometimes feel that the defenders are afraid of the striker rather then the striker should be afraid of the defenders. I think that is the biggest difference between Spanish and English football

It will definitely go between FC Twente and Ajax.

Twente still has a four point lead over number two Ajax, though their current form is a bit lacking. I'm also wondering how they will deal with the KNVB Cup semi-final loss yesterday by Feyenoord. Out of six games left, they still have to face Sparta (home; expected win), VVV (away; no easy win), SC Heerenveen (home; expected win), AZ (away; good fucking luck), Feyenoord (home; good fucking luck) and NAC (away; no easy win). I'm expecting around 11 points for Twente.

Ajax has a crazy good form at the moment and they will probably also reach the KNVB Cup final tonight. Out of six games left, they still have to face FC Groningen (home; expected win), ADO Den Haag (away; expected win), VVV (home; expected win), Willem II (away; expected win), Heracles Almelo (home; expected win) and NEC (away; expected win). I'm actually expecting the full 18 points for Ajax.

PSV is not in a good shape and is trailing five points. Out of six games, they still have to face VVV (away; no easy win), Willem II (away; expected win), Feyenoord (home; good fucking luck), SC Heerenveen (away; no easy win), FC Groningen (home; expected win) and AZ (away; good fucking luck). I'm expecting around 12 points for PSV.

This will, in turn, lead to the following ranking:

1. Ajax
2. PSV (because of goal ratio)
3. FC Twente

I just hope Feyenoord wins the KNVB Cup ;). After knocking out AZ, PSV and FC Twente consecutively (current league 5th, 3rd and 1st respectively... Feyenoord being 4th, Ajax 2nd), they deserve it. Ajax's strongest opponent was NEC and even they struggled... I mean come on :p. Besides, Ajax winning the league and Feyenoord winning the cup... Kind of classic ;)

Diego Forlan - Games and goals from EPL/La Liga only.

63 Games with Utd. - 10 Goals. - 0.16 Goals per game

106 Games with Valencia - 54 Goals - .51 Goals per game

94 Games with Atl. Madrid - 61 Goals - .64 Goals per game

lol Forlan. Though when he did score they were crackers or right in front of the Kop =)

You could dig up similar stats about Torres scoring more in the PL though; it doesn't mean much except that some players are better suited to Spain than England.

Messi wouldn't be doing the same thing in England as he is in Spain. You have a lot of hatchet men and teams going out to purposely double mark opponents. People can't really do that to Messi because Barca move teams from side to side with passing so they can't afford to have two guys on him and lose their shape and they have 3 players occupying the back four compared to one or two in a traditional 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 played by other teams. Many lower teams go out to park the bus and are actually adept at doing so. All of his goals of him running from like 50 yards and scoring you see players pulling out of tackles, not wanting to take the yellow whereas he'd get crunched within ten yards in England.

I hope Ajax wins the Eredivisie. They deserve it the most. If Pieter Vink didn't exist, Ajhax would be #1 now. They play the best football and score a lot, instead of the lucky 1-0 of PSV and FC Twente (altough PSV lost their luck and they now get what they deserve: losses and draws).

I hope Ajax wins the KNVB Beker too, altough they don't deserve it compared to Feyenoord (read: 010 or Kakkerlakken): Easier opponents than Feyenoord. AGOVV was deserved win, FC Dordrecht: both clubs were equally bad, quality made the difference, WHC amateurs was easy win, NEC: Ajax better, but they scored only once because they missed Suárez, so 30 minutes extra. Ajax struggled but won deserved.

Go Ahead Eagles - Ajax 0-6. Very deserved win, Eriksen and Lodeiro made their first Ajax goals.

KNVB Cup Final: The Klassieker Feyenoord - Ajax. Some non-Dutch members should know these clubs: Ajax is one of the most successfull clubs in history. Feyenoord less, but good in the early seventies.

I thinki FC twente wiull be the Eredivisie champion: They have the luck. If they are 0-1 behind in the 80th minute, they win with 2-1, undeserved.

Ajax has the least luck: Most hitting the woodwork, and referees are against Ajax (Pieter Vink).

Question: If you would own a club, would you want Martin Jol to be coach/manager of it?

You probably know him from his Tottenham Hotspur time (2004-2007). He also coached Hamburger SV (2008-2009) and coaches Ajax now (2009-2012). Before that, he reached UEFA Cup football with two small Dutch clubs, relegation candidates Roda JC (1996-1998) and RKC Waalwijk (1998-2004).

Premier League lovers: You should know Martin Jol. He was very popular by the Tottenham Hotspur fans. One of the most successfull managers of Tottenham Hotspur in history.

He is a legend for Tottenham Hotspur.

He is Mister RKC. RKC Waalwijk is a relegation candidate in the Netherlands. Martin Jol worked there for 6 years and made a subtopper of RKC Waalwijk. When he

Another Martin Jol tribute.

All vids have reactions from sad Tottenham Hotspur fans wanting Martin Jol back.

Martin Jol always lets his team play offensive.

He is Ajax-coach now and is doing very well: Even tough referees are against Ajax, Ajax is #2 now, the #1 FC Twente has 4 more points. Ajax has an easier program. Ajax is in the cup final too. Ajax always wins deserved with big results, often 3 goals or more each game, and often a clean sheet. FC Twente and #3 PSV always win undeserved with lucky 1-0.

Funny detail: Martin Jol has been a player of FC Twente (attacking midfielder and sometimes central striker).

I used to like this thread, before we had long posts with so much bias that it is boring and unbearable to read. Get off Martin's/Suarez's balls please and keep the discussion flowing instead of forcing it every single time and whining about how much Ajax deserve to be champions geez...

Whoever has the most amount of points at the end of the season, deserves to win... Ajax had a pretty poor start and lost quite a few points, but are steamrolling everyone now. Twente is in lackluster shape now (but in tremendous form earlier), but they're still raking in enough points. Fantastic play alone doesn't win you shit, it's about getting more goals than your opponent.

Just ask Germany with all their World Cups... You should know, being Dutch.

Oh, and I think most people don't give a rat's ass about the Eredivisie anyway here. It's a pretty minor league in Europe, with only an occasional good European performance from Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord (yeah, they're shit last couple of years, but they won the last European prize for The Netherlands).
