Lee, how do you feel about the rumours that Shearer might be your manager next season too?

Imo no matter how good he is as a player he really isn't cut out for management at all; I can honestly see you not achieving promotion next season if he remains at the helm.

You need to bring in someone experienced; it's a shame Steve Bruce is off to the mackems...

who the hell would want to manage Newcastle? You can't judge shearer by his tenure in Newcastle as a manager. I don't know if there's any manager in the world who could come out of the place not looking utter tripe.

Every manager since they have sacked Sir Bobby has been shite. Largely due to the fans being very expectant coming from their CL days and PL chasing days in the last 5-15 years. Those days are over and they need to rebuild. The best man to do that was Allardyce but he was booted before he got a real chance (perfect sense when Allardyce has experience of saving Bolton from relegation and building them, no?) and then Ashley went for the more crowd pleasing options of Keegan and Shearer who weren't really up to the task. Well maybe Keegan was but he was put in more of a puppet role than anything.

I don't know, Shearer never struck me as the type to be an excellent manager tbh.
I hope at the very least the fact that the new manager will have the opportunity to flush a lot of the shit out of St James's park and sculpt the squad however the hell he wants

Well i guess ill be the first one to post about Chelseas FA Cup Triumph. Well we did it in style.

Bit disappointed that it was the only silverware we got, but at least we got it.
A surprising early goal from Everton had me worried, but who better to win it for Chelsea than the Drogba/Lampard duo?

If it's anyone other than Shearer then it's an utter tragedy. Even if he we were to assume he had no management skills (he does btw), you can't overlook the mental impact that he has on the players and the city in general. Shearer is God up here and the fans need someone to rally behind in these dark times. The day after the defeat at Villa, I was out running in the morning and went past the training HQ. There was a few dozen people lined up outside, shouting SHEARER SHEARER SHEARER. Even after the darkest day in the clubs history...they don't call us the best fans in the world for nothing. It's also vital that we STICK WITH ONE FRIKKIN MANAGER for a worthwhile length of time. Even if Shearer isn't to be the Messiah we need to get into the habit of not forcing a manager out everytime something doesn't go to plan.

And if you were to put me on the spot, I'd say that it WILL be Shearer. He just loves the club too much to turn his back.

Perhaps but Van der Sar is not a arrogant whinger with no sense of loyalty.

'i'm leaving the club because you're playing harper instead of me'

'ok. now i'm not leaving the club because you're playing me again'

'ok, i'm leaving the club anyway'

I'd like to contest this because, as I see it, Shay Given was one of the best servers of the club. He stuck with Newcastle through thick and thin and after 12 years of giving everything for seemingly no reward, I think it's fair that he chose to leave Newcastle. The way he went might've been a bit dodgy, but I think your comments were overly harsh.

No reward? What about two FA Cup Finals and a Champions League campaign? Loyal service for 12 years...oh please, how could anyone possibly forget his disgraceful conduct in 2001 when he handed in a transfer request after losing his place to Harper? The club buckled, gave him his place back and the request was withdrawn. Harper didn't complain in the slightest, he just got on with his job. Then this season, when the club he supposedley loves is struggling all he can think about is the money down at Eastlands and is doing everything he can to abandon the sinking ship rather than doing his best to keep it afloat. The he holds a press conference criticising Newcastle...seriously...he's a fantastic player but he's an egomaniac.

all that matters is that Shay is at a better place now... and the reason he moved to city was because he wanted to win something, newcastle just couldn't do that, whereas city have recently had a very succesful UEFA cup (now europa league) campaign.
city are aiming for europe next season and newcastle can only beat others in their league, although there are some hard apponents, like Plymouth Argyle and Derby County.

lol Man City, I don't see where there fanbase is coming from. I mean, if somebody wanted to support a money driven, foreign-owned club that plays boring football they'd just watch Chelsea.

true, and have you noticed all united supporters don't come from Manchester, all true manchunians (term for a group of people who come from Manchester, i think the proper way to say it is collective noun) support City.

manu only get support out of sympathy from that gay plane crash which was completly on purpose from the lord cause they play like shit.

Anyways, hopefully next season liverpool will win the champion's league once again and return where they belong.

Btw guys,Is it just me or is iniesta one of the most brilliant creative midfeilders out there.

Bullshit, my entire family support Utd.

Also Martinez is leaving Swansea and I am p. upset :(

The best footballer in the world right now is Messi nodoubt about that and second is Christiano Ronaldo! I hope these players meet and play together in my favourite team Real Madrid!

How about you stop with all the bloody abuse and start talking about football, a lot of people died in that so have a bloody heart. Anyway, getting away from all these abusive idiots, coming from Watford I am angered by Brendan Rodgers leaving Watford for Reading after saying he was 100% behind them, I think its a disgrace for him to come in for a year and then just leave because a bigger club has a free managerial spot.

I think it was a perfectly legitimate response from someone who originally hails from Manchester to the blatant piss-take of the Munich air disaster, actually.

Talk about football? Martinez has fucked off and screwed us over, we need a new manager, it's all quite grim because he was absolute gold. Speaking of Reading, we might be coming in for their old manager. I'm ambivalent. I want Martinez back and I am going to sulk about this for a very, very long time.

Do you actually watch football lol? The Munich Air Crash was 51 years ago and Utd probably play the best football in the league alongside Arsenal and were top scorers for two of the last three seasons.

And you do also realise that the CL does not "belong" to Liverpool when Milan and Madrid have won it more times than them?

Well when I said abusive idiots I was referring to both of you, but the fact of the matter is that an awful lot of Man U fans come from London or somewhere else so its nice to see someone who comes from Manchester although I do hate Man U.

Too many managers have no loyalty, its ridiculous, I mean Steve Bruce just left Wigan for Sunderland, he just keeps moving from job to job, he's a disgrace.

I think you'll find that pretty much every Champions League team has more fans from outside their city than from it. And there's nowt wrong with supporting a team that isn't local to you.

I should probably add I'm a Swansea fan, I have little time for Man Utd though my family <3 them and my great-uncle played for them at some point (though it was the under-21s, or something, I think). And yeah.. Man U fans coming from Manchester (Trafford no less) is something of a rarity.

Theres nothing wrong with that as long as they have a connection to the club, but most don't.

Kinda dissapointed Martinez left Swansea, I really wanted to see if he could finish in the play offs or even get them promoted next season.
