I just started doing competitive play in pokemon, although I have played the games since Red and Blue and as a matter of fact have never played an online battle yet. Currently I'm training up different guys because every time I read a thread here or selebii or any other site I see a selection that is just plain amazing. (Having over 400 guys to choose from does that)
My problem is TM moves. Moves such as stealth rock, and others that are only obtainable once I have a really hard time committing to one character. Since there are so many pokemon in the game, and the fact I'm such a noob to the competitive battling I don't know who to give a TM move too, how can I be safe in commitment of a move, yet have a safety net where I can give the move to someone else. I've also seen moves such as U-Turn, Baton Pass, and Roost to be commonly used and I don't even know where to get them (although if I tried I could find them)
Second question is about who to use and when. I have read that sweepers, walls, hazers and the like are the best to use. I also now see strategies are the best way to unify a team in making a team. Up until now I have just seen guys that I liked how they operated. To name some I liked Crobat, and Scizor as two different characters to use. I also like Tyranitar since Gold/Silver, Dragonite in general, Blissey, Alakazam, Rhyperior, and Lucario, as characters. I just don't know who would work where and how to fit them into the strategy or job positions. I know these are all OU characters but just examples so don't try to make me a team I wouldn't want it (not sure if your allowed anyway) I just look at such a large pool of characters and am not sure how to use each one to perfection which is my job. The question I guess then is how do the jobs and strategies work out?
If you can't tell question 2 relates to question 1. I like a lot of characters and I don't mind really sucking in the beginning of playing competitively but I don't want to waste TM moves such as Force Blast, or Stealth Rock which seem to be very very good moves.
Help
Thanks
