First question: is Rock Head avaiable?
Second question (much more stupid, considering Head Smash, but just to be sure): is it really more worthy than Strong Jaw?

No, Rock Head is currently unreleased. Yes, Rock Head Head Smash is absolutely worth losing the elemental fangs as coverage options. When you have a 150 Base Power STAB move with no drawbacks (except low accuracy but w/e), there's no need for that kind of coverage.

I don't think this thing will shine in OU. I've seen it a couple of times, and it's pretty easy to play around. The only way I would personally use it is as a choice sweeper, but it needs a lot of support to even do that. It could be potentially dangerous on a sand team, but plenty of other mons come to mind before this one does.

How would it perform with Sticky Web support? Maybe a DD set with it might do miracles. Or maybe a set with investment in speed and Rock Polish.
I use something similar with Agility on Mega Ampharos, and that things wrecks s*it, because it becomes quite hard to outspeed (becomes faster than Starmie), is so bulky and able to force switches to be sure to set up, and can one shot many, many things. I wonder if Tyrantrum might be a physical variant of this.

EDIT: Maga Ampharos does all this without SW, so just imagine how fast it becomes.

If you've seen Tyrantrum then it didn't have rock head. Tyrantrum is practically nothing and incredibly outclassed until he gets rock head. It's such an important ability.

I've been using Tyrantrum in game, and it's power is unreal. Nearly unresisted stab, which is almost covered by EQ, this thing just screams sub 3 attacks to me. While 71 base speed certainly isn't fast, it isn't the slowest thing out there. I'm thinking something like this

Tyrantrum@Lifeorb
Ability: Rock Head
EV's: 252 Attack/4 HP/252 Speed
-Substitute
-Headsmash
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake

Strategy is pretty simple, come in on something that really doesn't want to take a Headsmash, such as Talonflame, force it out, sub on the switch, then proceed to shit on whatever comes in. The sub guards against status and at least one turn of priority, and a decent flying type can take just about any priority move there is in OU, so having Skarmory as a teammate is a necessity.

Or if he needs to be bulkier, I personally believe he can be, and can even take on a sort of support role, albeit only shuffling and Stealth Rocks.

Tyrantrum@Leftovers
Ability: Strong Jaw/Headsmash
EV's: 200 HP/56 Attack/252 Defence
Impish
-Stealth Rocks
-Dragon Tail
-Ice Fang/Head Smash/Fire Fang
-Fire Fang/Poison Fang/Earthquake

Acting as Stealth Rock support, and a phaser that can still do a fair bit of damage with STAB Dragon Tail, this set focuses more on countering his counters. Hippowdon's hoping to come in to easily tank the Headsmash instead find themselves getting hit with a 97.5BP Ice Fang coming off of 121 base attack, which is gonna sting. Fairies coming in on the switch will get hit by a 82.5BP Poison Fang, which is also gonna hurt. I put Fire Fang down as a way to nail incoming steel types such as Aigeslash and Scizor and Ferrothorn, but you end up with a slight case of 4MSS. Headsmash and EQ are there if you should choose to forgo the Elemental Fangs and opt for Rock Head as the ability instead.

I hope you enjoy these sets, and enjoy shitting on the enemies of the King of the Jungle.

This set won't last more than a few turns. I think after a Sub, you can only use Head Smash twice before dying. Could work better with a leftovers instead of Lifeorb.

Dont use poison fang IT has already been explained why.
A neutral stone edge is stronger then a SE poison fang.

Poison Fang has a 50% chance to inflict Toxic and the same SE base power (150) as a neutral Stone Edge with STAB (and perfect accuracy, of course). An Assault Vest utility set with Poison Fang and Dragon Tail might be cool in lower tiers.

Bugger, I completely blocked out the recoil damage for some reason. Yeah Lefties would work better.

why does this thread exist

Anyways, Tyrantrum is neat as a tanky SR setter. I've used it before to decent success in OU, but it's not fantastic. A bulky set with SR and Dragon Tail would be it's only niche in OU, although it's a pretty small niche.

Aurorus got a 2nd ability, when the hell GF are gonna give Tyrantrum its hidden ability?

I used to think that Strong Jaw is a cool ability and all, but after using Tyrantrum, I found out that I only use Head Smash and only one of the fangs. I used to run 2 fangs and 2 stabs but eventually I swapped one of the fans for Earthquake.

Aurorus also is waiting for Snow Warning lol. Even though in this case is worse than Refridgerate.

It didn't get it yet? I thought it already had it. I don't think its worse than Refrigerate. Refrigerate is a cool ability on paper, but there aren't many special normal attacks Aurorus could use and its physical attack is poor.

I'm not sure if Aurorus gets Hyper Voice as an egg move, but even if it got it, the only advatnage it has over Ice Beam is hitting behind the sub. Ice Beam on the other hand has a chance to freeze the target.

Aurorus has access to Nature Power, which in a neutral environment turns into Tri-attack, a 80BP move boosted by both Refrigerate and Stab, and has a 20% chance of inflicting status (better than Ice beam in any way possible). It is no Rock Head Head Smash (God, this thing will be a terror if it ever gets the ability), but it's good.

Not only that, but it also has more PP than Blizzard and is only 6 base power weaker, while not hindering the team with Hailstorm. Even then, Refrigerate Nature Power is pretty good, but not enough for making Aurorus viable, and this is the Tyrantrum thread anyway.

Why not Rock Polish and Wide Lens to boost Head Smash accuracy?

Not a bad idea if Rock Head ability was released, which would make Head Smash more spam-able. but I'd rather have a damage boosting item and Dragon Dance to make a good use of Dragon Claw, Earthquake and the coverage fangs.

I've been missing around with the calculator and I found out that in most cases, unless the Pokemon you're hitting has a 4x weakness to one element, you're better off using Head Smash. (As long as they don't resist Rock)

pretty much. i can't see it being OU viable until rock head is released. while strong jaw is nice, tyrantrum still feels far to reliant on dragon dancing at this stage.
