I've been waiting a bit since its been a tie but I'd like to wrap this up so yeah I'm gonna run a ballot for a day between the two users who are currently tied for first place:

ZoroarkForever
Melee Mewtwo

If you voted for someone other than these two, you may vote again within the ~24 hour time period. New voters are allowed too. Good luck!

The winner of this round is: ZoroarkForever! Congratulations. I totally forgot about the hall of fame, and will update that this weekend.

This next round, we will be doing ORAS again. The Pokemon we are using is none other than: Genesect!

Other than the fact that they're going to win UPL, Genesect is a pretty cool mon and there's a variety of ways to support it or abuse its support I guess so let's get building!

I initially wanted to use just vanilla Scarf Gene for the team, but Choice Band piqued my interest, so I built around that instead. Pretty much every other team member was added to take advantage of U-turn's momentum, both offensively and defensively. CM Ghostceus + Bulky DD Mence is an extremely nice anti-EKiller core while still throwing its weight around, with Mence covering Ho-Oh for Ghostceus with Refresh. PDon + Keys were primarily support options for checking Xern+Mence together and wearing down tanks for either Gene, Mence, or Ray to pick off at their leisure. Ray was actually the only filler mon on the team, but it softened the team's POgre weakness while flattening any wall/tank the opposing team has. Tailwind is arguably the weirdest option on the team (despite me loving it so much), but it frees up a bunch of options offensively and can let almost any member of the team clean up late-game, in addition to outspeeding Deo-A and Mewtwo.

Speaking of which, this team doesn't exactly appreciate Deo-A or Mewtwo around since Gene cant dance around them without Scarf, so having ESpeed on Ray can be used as insurance to cover that. Foddering something to Rai isn't that great either, but most teams don't like that anyway, and Darkrai can be picked off by Gene's ESpeed after SR and a layer of Spikes/LO recoil. Ygod is arguably the team's greatest weakness, since the only Dark resist is Keys, and multiple sets of Ygod can wear down most of the team.

I'd be happy to listen to suggestions since this is one of the more successful team builds I've had in a while and this team can have a lot more optimizations with team members!

Edit: Removed Explosion for Sleep Talk since a slow Explosion hasn't really proved useful and can give me something to fodder for Rai.

I'd like to not have a dead round here. I'd prefer to have at least 4 entries to start voting. The Hall of Fame was updated recently by the way.

Also a reminder that you don't need to post teams and votes to contribute to this thread! Discussing builds, possible suggestions, and new interesting ways to support a Pokemon is always interesting discussion.

IMO a lot of ORAS teams with Genesect have the same similar idea i.e. use its U-turn to create free turns for powerful stuff that beats the things it lures in. This team follows a similar idea for having stuff that can take advantage of all of those: if Ho-Oh comes in, go to M-Diancie. If PDon, go Latios. If it's a fat Steel, go PDon for easy SR. It's actually rather cool for supporting Mega Diancie, as Genesect to CM Draco Latios is a good way to weaken both Steels and Primal Groudon for a potential Mega Diancie clean. If Groundceus comes in, then you have Tina-O, Lati, and IB Sect to beat that thing, so no worries.

The rest of the team is fairly self-explanatory. PDon sets Rocks and beats Steels/Ogre/Xern, Latios checks PDon/Ogre/Groundceus and wallbreaks, Tina-O checks EKiller/Grounds and Defogs, Diancie checks Ho-Oh/darks and poses a significant offensive threat, bulky Refresh EKiller is the late-game sweeper, Ghostceus check, and backup Xern check to help PDon.

This team originally had Landorus-I over Latios, but that thing sucks and leaves me open to getting 6-0ed by special Arceus-Ground so rip.

Fireburn - At a glance the team seems pretty good mons-wise but some sets are odd. I think Refresh Ekiller wants a silk scarf instead of a life orb because it gets worn out form random WoWs too easily with a life orb. Your PDon is kind of inefficient here as you aren't relying only on it as your POgre check; if you go for a standard 56+ defense spread you can check opposing Ekiller with it too which can be nice in a pinch @_@. I'd encourage you to use modest Latios over timid as timid doesn't outpace much and modest just hits things harder, but this is just personal preference. Finally, your Giratina-O spread looks cool, but I'd like if you could explain what it actually does :(

I like the LO for general power but I'll consider the Scarf. Fair point on PDon as well, it was a holdover from when I had Landorus.

On Tina-O: 100+ Atk ensures 2HKO on Mewtwo with Sneak and gives a bit of extra bulk for tanking EKiller/Mence in a pinch. I could prolly just run Max Atk but the extra bulk is sometimes handy.

just out of curiosity, is this pokemon even worth using? it seems like a worse klefki in almost every respect

klefki's compression of a fairy type and xern check allow it to do so much more.. although genesect can effectively check mewtwo, this doesn't seem to justify it instead of klefki since it's a pretty mediocre scarfmon in a primal groudon metagame. everyone of the teams posted and my past experiences with this mon make me say it's hardly even viable-- in xy, i only justified genesect on sticky web for a xerneas check and anti-darkrai lead. nowadays i don't see the point.

This team is based off steel's pogre + gene core, The team revolves around gene uturning out into a check of what ever comes out; pogre for pdon + slow dragons , rockceus for sal etc, mgar for fairies ( if someones tries to absorb uturn with xern) + stall mons and pdon for steel types. Latias and Rockceus were added just to give this team checks to pogre and ho-oh, aka lazy team building.

Most of the sets are fairly standard, however latias'es Evs are there to creep most modest latios with thunder being a way to do decent damage ho-oh and klefki switch ins while loosing vs cm arcs (credit goes to Evuelf for the set). Mega gar has protect to always get a free mega evolve, which in my limited experience it struggles to do by itself and 76 spd's Ev's to always live a +2 geoxern moonblast without hazards as the team is pretty weak to xerneas.

All in all this is a pretty mediocre team, with a couple of fatal flaws vs xerneas and other stuff i can't think off right now. I guess it's also pretty weak to stall and generic ho, but then again i probably don't know what i'm talking about.

And that concludes my team!

I'll end submissions in about a day if I can't get any more entries. Three is enough I guess.

man these are a pain on phone

Hi everyone! So this is a team I built wanting to make use of one of the (few) positive traits genesect has. As dice pointed out, genesect is often an inferior klefki and when it isn't, it's often an inferior forretress. Keeping this in mind, I knew I had to make use of gene's ability to force out mons and grab momentum with a relatively strong u-turn. The most obvious mon that will be switching in is of course primal-don which gets weakened by tspikes quite easily. Hence why I choose to build to build the team around kyogre cleaning late game with its teammates supporting this. Cloyster can dictate the game's momentum early on by setting tspikes and making sure rocks don't go up. After that it's a matter of doing what fits the situation best. Your best bet is to play as such that you allow no opportunity to defog early on. This means pressuring early game with mence and using it to punch holes where you can. Thunder wave groudon is a necessary evil on this team as it's rather effective at paralyzing latis that come in on it trying to defog wanting to get rid of the tspikes. You can use this turn to pressure with the other mons, and as soon as you get kyogre in for free you can overpower the lati twins and hopefully clean up shop. Arceus ghost was chosen over an ekiller variant to allow the least possible opportunity to defog, e.g gira-o doesn't defog on ghosteus nor do latis as opposed to boosted/neutral skilled respectively. Shadow claw is needed for this as shadow force can give free turns (though with a +2 ghosteus it's often over), so I went with espeed on genesect to check low health xern as well as other misc. low health stuff. The groudon spread has some spdef investment so xern is less threatening. Fast mence is to outspeed latis in a pinch, jolly max helps with ghosteus (so does twave don't with more spdef).

cbb to think: lead cloy, grab momentum with gene to apply pressure as much as you can and prevent defog early on. rocks on pdon (defogable mon on hazards-centred team) is justified by thunder wave paving a way for a kyogre sweep late game.

Scarfxern over sd ghosteus with band espeed+explosion genesect is a very cool option as well. A stronger espeed makes up for scarfxern pressuring geoxern less, and gene can lure ho-oh nicely pretty early on as they wouldn't want to let their pdon come in when you have gene/xern/ogre. With ho-oh gone pdon is probably forced to come in on tspikes and you have a decently easy time from there on. Para helps band gene out a lot, on heck you can even run rock slide xern if you want. Ho-oh teams are important because ho-oh+lati could be tough in this case

Sadly sd ghosteus is a fucking animal so I did it this way. Enjoy!

http://pastebin.com/LJK9Kz4z Creep is completely arbitrary, feel free to run as much/little as you want
