VGC Generic TR Team

Dialga.png

Dialga
@Chesto Berry
Quiet 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Def

Rest
Trick Room
Dragon Pulse
Flamethrower / Blizzard

Standard Dialga lead: Trick Room setup, flamethrower on steel types, Dragon Pulse for STAB, blahblahblah.

Infernape.gif

Infernape
@Focus Sash
Brave 252 Atk / 64 SpA / 192 HP

Fake Out
Low Kick
Heat Wave
Close Combat / Grass Knot

Key member of the team. Fake Out to hinder opponent's set up (and hopefully support Dialga's Trick Room set up), Heat Wave can hit both enemies, and is super effective to Metagross and Abomasnow. Close Combat can be used as a general sweeping move, getting in a kill before death, or taking down the high defense pokes, or Grass Knot can be used if I'm scared of Rain Dancers. But the best part of Infernape is Low Kick; it has awesome power against nearly everything that seems popular: Dialga, Ttar, Obama, Palkia, and Smeargle, covering the majority of Pokemon. The only thing it can't cover is Mewtwo because Psychic is too cool for Infernape.

giratina.jpg

Giratina-O
Griseous Orb
Quiet 252 SpA / 12 HP / 248 SpDef

Draco Meteor
Energy Ball
Shadow Ball
Protect

Nearing the end of the game, Giratina's Origin forme can rape and pillage the enemy's team with high damage attacks like Shadow Ball and Draco Meteor. Energy Ball can be used to counter Kyogres.

Metagross.gif

Metagross
Shuca Berry
Brave 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Def

Explosion
Earthquake
Thunder Punch
Meteor Mash

Earthquake hits the opponent's team, as does Explosion in a last chance move to destroy the opponent. Thunder Punch for waters and flying, and Meteor Mash as a general use, high damage attack.

All EVs/IVs are set to work fairly well with Trick Room. Changed Palkia and Abomasnow to Giratina and Metagross. I now have access to Earthquake and Explosion abuse, and can use Giratina to take out Mewtwo and other Giratinas, or any other Psychics/Ghosts.

Criticism and recommendations greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks, then that's another thing off my check list. Just wanted to make sure it beat Groudon/Kyogre weather effects.

you might have a problem with infernape because once trick room is up it will be one slow poke with how fast it is, smeargle would be better suited for this job

At level fifty, his speed is 124. While he'll go after my other Pokes, I think he still may have the upper hand over an opponent who is trying to speed his way through the competition.

Maybe I could switch Infernape to Electivire? He can learn Follow Me, Low Kick, and Fire Punch, all could do Infernape's job almost as well, and he's bulkier. He can also learn Thunder/Thunder Punch which could allow Palkia to switch Thunder to a different, more useful move. Would this be a good idea?

Also (again), I don't see why you wouldn't run Kyogre instead of something like Abomasnow, especially since Hail doesn't benefit ANYONE on your team besides him. Palkia doesn't need to run Blizzard, because it already has Spacial Rend to hit Dragons, and it'd rather have its Water moves boosted by rain than have unSTAB Blizzard's accuracy boosted. (You know Palkia gets Hydro Pump now, right?)

If I were you, I'd actually drop your second two for some different Pokes. :0 Or else change Palkia's set and replace Abomasnow with someone else.

No. You would be prone to Groudon and Metagross and other TR EQ users more. If anything, Togekiss would make a more superior option since it can resist EQ. Togekiss would also work pretty well under TR, being able to abuse Serene Grace and Air Slash, however, Air Slash doesn't hit many of the Ubers formuch damage.

I could switch Palkia to Hydro Pump/Spcial Rend and a Lustrous Orb, then change Abomasnow to something else. Or I could just change Palkia to Kyogre :/

That makes sense, but given its low damage, and, as many are using electric attacks like Thunder to counter swift swimmers and Kyogre, wouldn't it be best to keep it out?

My favorite pokemon of all time could be of use. DUSKNOIR! slap a choice band on it, and have shadow sneak, thunder punch, ice punch, and fire punch is DEADLY! or you could use earth quake

I could make Palkia and Abomasnow into Giratina/Rayquaza and Snorlax (or better yet, Metagross). Giratina/Rayquaza+Snorlax would allow for Earthquake abuse. If Giratina was used, I could also slap Self Destruct onto Snorlax. If Rayquaza is used, I can take advantage of Air Lock and stop Groudon/Kyogre.

Changed Palkia+Abomasnow to Giratina and Metagross. Thanks for all of your reommendations guys, you've really helped in setting my team straight. :)

Just a few things I want to comment on:
1. Infernape isn't surviving any attacks in this environment any time soon. Giving it 192 HP while holding focus sash is just wasting those 192 HP EVs. Just max out your special attack instead.

2. Low Kick on most other pokemon makes sense, but on Infernape, which isn't going to be able to take any hits anyway, you should just use Close Combat, since that is a fixed 120 base power STAB fighting move that wouldn't otherwise hit Clefable and Blissey for that power with Low Kick. So then you can use the last slot for Grass Knot., or potentially even protect.

3. Energy Ball on Giratina-O at a first glance looked a bit odd. Then I see that its main purpose is to hit Kyogre. If that is the case, you should go with Thunder instead of Energy Ball which hits Kyogre much harder (Energy Ball = 80 * 2 = 160, Thunder = 120 * 2= 240). Energy Ball does let you hit Groudon, but only slightly higher than Shadow Ball (80 * 1.2 * 1.5 = 144). Thunder is probably the better choice.

4. To be honest, Infernape in Trick Room does feel really odd. The ONLY value I see in that is that it makes your opponent not suspect your team to be a trick room team. Otherwise, Toxicroak or Hariyama will be better Trick Room fake out fighters. If tricking your opponent into thinking that your team is not Trick Room was the intention behind using Infernape, then sure, that's cool I guess.

Machpunch or Vacuum wave would do you some justice and you should consider leading with something that can handle other stuffz like perhaps Abomasnow with Iceshard/grassknot/protect/other?

first off i would either decide between close combat and low kick. then, as S7atcat mentioned above, put one of those priority moves in the open slot.

That's not a bad idea, I think I'll try a Toxicroak.
Any suggestions?
Currently, I have:

Toxicroak
@Focus Sash
Brave 252 Atk / 252 HP / 6 SpDef
Fake Out
Low Kick
Bullet Punch / Ice Punch
Sucker Punch

Fake Out and Low Kick same idea as Infernape. Bullet Punch as a good priority move, or Ice Punch to counter Dragons and grass if I were to run into them. Sucker Punch as a strong attack, and is priority. It can also take care of Mewtwo, which Infernape definitely can't do.
