Finally got around to this :D
Disco Turtle
Horror Film Turtle
Booty Shaking Turtle (aka Disco Turtle #2)
Determined Turtle
BOSS TURTLE

[Overview]

  • Disco Turtle likes to spin on the floor, rapidly that is.
  • One of the few decent spinners, and the most balanced (aside from spinda's base 60 stats)
  • Good bulk and defensive typing.
  • Massive set-up fodder.
  • Wants Slack Off, depends on Rest for recovery which sucks.
  • Access to the great combination of Foresight and Rapid Spin
  • Wishes he got Roar like his big brother Blastoise
  • Two fairly useless abilities

    [Set]
    Name: Rapid Spin
    Move 1: Rapid Spin (orly?)
Move 2: Scald / Seismic toss
    Move 3: Haze
    Move 4: Yawn/Toxic
    Item: Eviolite
    Ability: Torrent
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

    [Set Comments]
  • The spread capitalizes on Wartortle's great special resistances, namely to Water, Ice and Fire. However, both of his weaknnesses are special, but due to the small amount of electric and grass type users in the tier, it is better to take advantage of his resists.
  • Rapid Spin is obvious, providing immense team support, especially to SR weak mons such as magmortar.
  • Both of the moves in the second slot are geared towards the same purpose: preventing wartortle from becoming taunt fodder. Scald is often weaker, but has a lovely burn chance and has the plus of being able to hit super effectively (hitting camerupt hard for example), while Seismic Toss ensures reliable damage, preventing many pokemon from setting up a sub on him, such as klinklang or magneton (Can't think of any sub users who aren't leaving atm...), but it leaves him even more walled by ghosts.
  • Haze takes away any stat gains (if they can't 1hko wartortle), which is useful for the likes of klinklang and gorebyss (he is barely 2hkoed by +2 HP Grass, and even has a chance to not be 2hkoed if he is timid), and providing a full stop to baton pass teams lacking a taunt user.
  • Yawn provides a great way to stop non sub-users setting up on him/ forcing a switch, and is great to use on ghost types coming in to block your spin, as they are faced by a dilemma: let him take the sleep and effectively let him die (due to the sleep mechanics this gen) and become set up fodder, or switch out and let him spin. This is phwarted by teams running more than one ghost, however this are not very common. Toxic on the other hand, provides a way to cripple other defensive mons such as Slowking and other bulky waters.

    [Additional Comments]
  • Physically defensive or mixed defensive sets are viable, with Wartortle's equal defenses.
  • Rest can also be used in the last slot with a dedicated cleric, roselia is a very good option resisting both of his weaknesses. Lantuirn also works, absorbing electric attacks aimed at him.
  • Foresight is another option but Yawn does a similiar thing, while also being effective on non-ghosts.
  • Torterra works as another teammate, taking in electric attacks and having great physical bulk, complimenting the specially bulky set. He can also set up SR and kill electric types attacking wartortle, such as magneton or raichu. Beware of LO magmortar though, as he kills this core easily if Wartortle is low on health /Is running Seismic Toss over Scald.

    [Other Options]
  • Refresh is cool to remove toxics, but rest is better in general
  • Mirror Coat can be cool
  • Can set up and abuse (kinda) Rain Dance
  • Rain Dish+ Aqua Ring for lots of recovery
  • Aqua Jet or Fake Out to provide very weak priority, can help for pokes such as sawk, who can sweep with reversal at 1hp if you have no other priority.
  • Ice Beam can be used to hurt grass types such as torterra, but is rediculously weak.
  • Water Spout would be good if he wasn't so weak, in addition he depends on coming on hazards and resisted/neutral hits.
  • Iron Defense I guess?

    [Checks and Counters]
  • Magneton destroys it.
  • SubCM Mesprit sets up and kills on those lacking S-toss/Haze
  • Can't do much to gorebyss without haze/mirror coat
  • You have to be very ballsy to stay in on Roselia
  • Torterra sets up RPs and kills
  • Basically, those packing STAB super effective hits.
  • Also, not a lot can 1hko him but many things can 2hko him and he can't do much back.

Seismic Toss > Seismic-Toss
Slashes should be like / this with a space before / after

edit: actually agreeing with Omicron, Yawn and Haze should be swapped.

I fuckin hate yawn. I'd rather see haze where yawn is and slash yawn with toxic or remove it completely and relegate it to the AC. Yawn is a retarded move and shouldn't be used ever >:[

EDIT: K fine just swap Yawn and Haze

Yawn serves a particular role on this set, forcing out incoming Misdreavus and Haunter so that Wartortle can spin.

I personal,y like yawn, what do you have against it omicron? It basically serves a dual purpose to phaze out set up sweepers e.g. Byss and to get a spin off.

Um..just curious...why this analysis in the first place? Wartortle is just...weak, the set doesn't even have Eviolite on it.
woops, i put lefties instead of evio by mistake >.< and hes quite bulky, and is the only spinner not weak to SR who doesnt suck, he's not meant to be powerful

Yeah, PO's wrong. Yawn, Mirror Coat, Foresight, Aqua Jet and Haze are illegal with Rain Dish for reasons I'm sure we all understand by now.

Rain Dish is kind of pointless with the complete and utter lack of rain in this tier do yea just make the main ability Torrent so you can actually use those moves rofl

True, but on sets running no water moves it is better (explainign reasoing from before this was brought to my attention lol)
