Which AR Code would you call the most legal one?

Encounter Code
100% Shiny Code
Event Modifier Codes

None of them? Cuz hacking is hacking. Most legal as in what? Undetectable if you didn't tell them? Or generally accepted by the [smogon] community?

Shiny probably, because it offers no fundamental advantage to the player using AR (other than looking cool in some cases), although I maintain that if you're hacking, you shouldn't be worried about pseudo-legality.

Fyi any code from a device that is externally attached to your DS is hacking.

Imo an event modifier code is awfully convenient, but also unfair and generally frowned upon. You could do the code infinitely and you could see how that would be unfair for pokemon like Arceus.

Pokemon that weren't supposed to come in D/P shouldn't be. To me, the 100% shiny code is the only somewhat useable one because there is a chance, albeit less than winning the lottery 10 times in a row, that all the pokemon you see in the game are shiny.

On Smogon, the legendary reencounter code is tolerated by some people, as long as it was caught legitly. This is not like serebii where people brag about how many shinys they have. Generally people here don't really give a hoot about whether it is shiny or not as long as it's good.

Event modifier codes would probably be the hardest to detect, but the all shinies and encounter code are easy to detect, even without a hack checking device.

If you're going for completely undetectable + competitive advantage, you're looking for rebattle, fast hatch, and egg generation.

Actually I take it back about the shiny thing. The one code I'd allow is the TM one, since that's (somewhat) easily duplicatable by a person with 2 carts.

I guess strictly speaking, the one "legal" code is the one that gives you running shoes to start, since that's only 30min or so of advantage. ;)

Don't forget the IV-checking code!

And Xyra, can't you edit the poll to add the two options you forgot?

True. Since there are IV battles, the IV checking code is probably pretty close to being not as much of a boost as the aforementioned things. Although I don't really know how the IV check code works, so correct me if I'm wrong. XD

Considering it allows you to check the IVs even before the egg is hatched, I'd say it gives a nice advantage. Something along the lines of quick hatching (with the difference that you either soft-reset for the egg or mass-hatch and hatch all of them as a normal person).

Well, you'd still need to hatch them eventually even if the IVs sucked, but I guess running with quickhatch as well (lol more hacking) makes it work out ok.

Nope...
Event Modifier is encountering Darkrai/Arceus/shaymin already...
And Re-Battle code is to rebattle theese AFTER you caught/killed em

Right, I know other people have said it, but 'legal hacking' is an oxymoron. You can't have a 'legallest' hack, they are all hacking.
I don't mind people using the all shiny code or 100% encounter code or whatever, but I do mind people who call it anything other then hacking. If you don't want to hack, then don't, but by saying something is 'legal' even though it is a hack... you're only fooling yourself. If you want whatever code, then do it, but at least be honest with yourself.

No you don't need to hatch them. At the start of breeding it doesn't really give an advantage because you're just looking for IVs on parents. But, once you have 2 really good parents IV check is a huge boost, especially when hatching something that requires a specific ability + nature.

1. Fast Hatch/egg generate, saving before each egg until you find an egg with the right nature/ability/gender/whatever.
2. SR on that egg like crazy, IV checking as soon as you get the egg.
3. If IV check says the IVs suck, just SR
4. Repeat until you get great IVs on that egg, hatch for your awesome poke.

The advantage over running back and forth on your bike is really obvious ain't it? The advantage over quick hatch is you don't have to sit there waiting for the animation sequence on every single egg. -.-

Forgot about SRing for a moment. My bad. :pirate:

I say that "hacks" should only be done to do things that you should be able to do, but can't. Like SR for Arceus. Why restrict Ubers because Nintendo is lazy? Stuff like IV calc is borderline. Hacking a Pokémon is bad....

Pesonally, I only use the AR for Items and TM's.

I have a lot less issue with using the AR for Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus. Not everyone can get to the special events, why punish someone that lives in boondocks?
