Wii Virtual Console Guide

fucking steelicks I got all hyped up about getting megaman for the VC and then I realize I dont have any points. So I go out a buy some and then I realize it isnt in america yet!!!! >:(

updated with the excellent paper mario and the pretty good dragons curse. australian users are now able to download turbographix titles (legally), so expect to see more reviews for that system soon!

bought paper mario, is awesome as expected. IF ADVENTURES OF LOLO DOESNT COME OUT IN AMERICA SOON I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL SOMEONE.

reviewed the... pretty bad bonks adventure =\ why is this game getting such good reviews? maybe i just dont get it...

Holy shit this thread makes me realize that there are so many Virtual Console games just sitting there, waiting for me. I thirst for them. Now I just need more money.

Just curious, does Star Fox 64 on the Virtual Console still have multiplayer intact? Because Star Fox 64 multiplayer is some of my favorite multiplayer EVER.

Steelicks, I hereby applaud you for your review on DKC2. But I'm not going to download it. Why? 'Cause I still have the original SNES Cartridge and can play it at my leisure! :D
It's a timeless classic.

I loved papermario when I was a kid. Got stuck on the damn flower level for quite a while...
I haven't really download many games from FC, but I think I might download some other ones based on your reviews.

nearly every SNES game i have is on there already, except for Super Metroid and Tetris Attack. promise me, not as a reviewer but as a friend, that you will review them.

edit: ...when they are released for wii VC!

Wow, great job. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these reviews, and I just bought Paper Mario and Super Mario World today based on these reviews and they're pretty good. I applaud you Steelicks.

I was extremely excited when Lolo was released. Granted, I already own it on the NES, but not having to remember anymore level codes and not having to risk the damn thing resetting made it worth a few bucks.

I also didn't remember WaveRace 64 being so hard. :[

So, yesterday I got myself a Wii. My friend sold me his bundle/2 nunchucks/3 games/etc. for $250 because he wants a 360.

Fuck yeah.

Nice, what games did you get with the purchase?

Also, looks like we'll be getting Metroid and Super Metriod this month on the VC.

Wow... these are pretty spot on... But it bothers me that Street Fighter 2 got the same score as Mario Kart got the same score as Punch Out....

You got me to buy Donkey Kong Country 2 and I'm not disappointed!

This thread is a major help. Most of the good SNES / NES / N64 games I either own

-Animal Crossing NES games (What?)
-A collection (Zelda, Sonic, Megaman) including it
-GBA port (Mario advance, DKC2 + 3, LoZ alttp)
-The original N64 Cart (SM64, MK64, SF64, etc.)

Of course while the ports aren't 100% real, I'd rather not but the VC version when I have almost the same thing, and could be getting a differennt title in the meantime.

So I've been hardpressed to find some of the more obscure ones. I'll look into Vectorman, for one. Also, I was tempted to get TMNT for the same reason, but I took AVGN's advice and didn't.

But yeah, a bit of advice for certain games, particularly the SNES ones. The Gamecube controller controls are odd, and while I haven't gotten a classic controller yet, I'm assuming it'll be better than the odd control scheme of the GCN controller (Possibly put in to 'help' us in our decision to buy a classic controller. )

Still, this topic helps a lot, as when it comes to the more obscure titles, I really have no idea wtf I'm doing.

To bad the original Metroid game is available on Zero mission after completion, making sales most likely hindered, but it is good regardless. I can't wait till they have the original Star Fox, or maybe that one they didn't release in the US, that ought to give us some laughs.

To play SNES games you need the CC, it saves a ton of frustration, especially for Contra. Next week I'm going on a splurge of games I've been putting off on getting, hopefully that goes well.

And Steelicks removed my mention in the op, I AM PISSED.

noting that super metroid is on the vc now, and no matter what steelikes scores you should pick it up.

also noting that the reviews for legend of the mystical ninja and donkey kong country were spot on, and i have this thread to thank for recommending them to me. honestly, beating those two games made for the most fun two days of my summer.

super metroid isnt available in UK yet, so no review until i get it

also glad you enjoy those games =)

I'd just like to point out my appreciation for Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine being mentioned - the Super Nintendo equivalent (Kirby's Avalanche) was one of my favorite games for a long time and it is good to see other people enjoying what is essentially the same thing.

I haven't really bothered to buy much for my VC yet so nice guide, I will probably look into some of these that I haven't had the opportunity to play before.

Yea if you are a Sonic fan you can just buy the Mega Collection for like 20$ and get this, Sonic 1, 2, 3 w/ Knuckles, Sonic and Knuckles. Those are probably the only good games. It is for Gamecube. Really nice game and cheap. I am going to get Super Mario Bros, DKC 1 and 2, and MArio Kart for VC soon.

Aw beat me to it :o. Also nice reviews =), quite a lot of games you have right there =x. Can't wait till Kirby Superstar comes out, I have 800 wii points + 200 other wii points waiting just to get that game :o.
